  1. Yes that was the bit that tripped me up - think of plate as the colour version and ws_plate as the image that provides the 3d effect (the blue filtered one)

    ahh yeahhh

Thanks for the words of wisdom there my friend. I thank you for your help today, I very much appreciate it. Now I can have a good nights sleep as I think I've well and truly wrapped this one up.

    :monkeydance:

    :D

  2. ahh okay thnx very much..

But what I did not understand was where we are meant to get two files from..

    One is the

plate .dds file you saved from Photoshop/GIMP

    and other

the new ws_plate.dds file you saved from Photoshop/GIMP

I only get one file from photoshop... after I've made the numberplate... I save it as dds as shown in tut... thats the only file... so when it came to replacing both the plate and ws_plate I put the same photoshop DDS numberplate file for both (in the middle row on the TDU modding tool)...

Sorry 4 all the questions.. It's just I'm the sort of person who won't "rest" until I figure something out so I can do it.. annoying ehh but its good to not be self reliant.. though I appreciate your help 110% .

    thnx.

    Edit: I got my answer

The nromal design and filtered design, you can save as any name. But you must then remember to convert it using the TDU Modding Toos.

For the normal design, when in the dds -> 2db, in the original file bit, it must be the plate.dds and for the filtered, it must be ws_plate.2db Then, in the bnk repacker, replace the plate.2db with the (your new) normal .2db and replace the ws_plate.2db with your new filtered 2.db file.

I have never really been good at explaining things ... but it has worked for everyone else ...

From http://forum.turboduck.net/showthread.php?t=3839 that guy was in the same situation as me.. our plates were identical :p

thnx.. may be the above should be included in the tut for newbs like me :p

    thnx

  3. No renaming needed, the zip contains a common_car.bnk, just back up your old one and drop it in there.

    hey thnx

lol... i did not click it at first... i was "saving image as" by right clicking on ur post... and doing it the long way by going thru the tut.. man im so stupid

    thnxx

so how did u do it on ur end ?

u used that website 2 make the plate.. then u just followed tut... and backed up ur personal common.. and made a new 1.. then just uploaded it here?

  4. hey i've done everything correct... and this is what happens

    http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i140/xhostx/platetdu.jpg

i print screened the cars plate in game and zoomed in via paint... its all weird... half invisible... what am i doing wrong?

Locate the Original plate.2DB file you extracted using the BNK Editor here 'C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Vehicules\Common_Car'

    - 3 - Locate the new plate .dds file you saved from Photoshop/GIMP

this is the file that we turned from jpeg to dds?

Locate the Original ws_plate.2DB file you extracted using the BNK Editor here 'C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Vehicules\Common_Car'

    - 3 - Locate the new ws_plate.dds file you saved from Photoshop/GIMP

is the ws_plate the jpeg that we are told to make ??

    this is confusing... lol

  5. Nope.. but I did add you on msn... :D

Im having a slight problem... I save the plate that Colster made ... into jpeg format...

then I renamed this to Common_car.bnk ... and put this in this file

    C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Vehicules\

(I delete the original common_car.bnk before placing the new 1 in..)

But when i start TDU and go into GARAGE... the game quits and I get a Windows error / (windows error report)...

What am i doing wrong? I did not get errors last time I did this...

im sure im doing this all wrong.. do i have to use the mod tools?

  6. Hey. I made my plate and all I see on my car is a very very faint plate...I can read my custom plate to a certain degree otherwise it looks like its invisible...

Could someone be so kind as to making me a plate please?

I'd like the Hawai background like the other plates with the letters: R 2 5EXY... and if the creater has time may be make a British numberplate like the one made by Iced for TC LEE ( A19 LDP v1.0)

    thank you very much

  7. Hey. Im slightly confused by this

    3. Now go to C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Level\Hawai'

    and replace

    * CommonWorld

    * CommonWorldDiv2

with new files you just created.

Could someone please explain this to me.. thanks..

We have not created any new files.. just replacing old with new.. that why I don;t understand

    thnx.

EDIT: YOU DON;T NEED TO DO STEP 3... Turned on TDU and the new roads where there.. so idk what the point of 3 is.. well i dont even know how to do it.. oh well nice mod !

  8. Hi. I am having a few problems with the sound pack. I have the rar fodler with the sounds and I have backup the original "Vehicules" folder. Thus I select all the sound files in the sound pack and I click "Yes to all" to replace the files..

However.. when TDU loads it connects to the server and then before I get to my garage it get a "critical error" / windows error..saying TDU has to close down blah blah

    I do this:

First off, you're in the wrong folder.

    Make sure you're here - C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Sound\Vehicules

Then just copy and paste the files you want inside. And you should be asked to confirm the replace.

But then there are 3 files for each car

E.g. 300_C.bnk + 300_C_I.bnk + 300C_audio.bnk.. is that how its meant to be? (these files are in C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Sound\Vehicules) when car sound pack is moved into vehicles..

Or is it one file per car when replacing them with the sound mod... TDU keeps on closing down (windows error) when using the mods..its fine when using normal game sounds

please can someone help me.. i really want to experience these new user created sounds.. they are amazing.

    your help is greatly appreciated

thank you very much & i look forward to reading your replies..

    THANKS ! :p
