  1. while you do have a point about the environment, the fact is, people simply do not care about the environment as much as they did before and SUVs will sell and keep selling forever.

    For example: weather

here in Kentucky, the snow can get pretty deep and nasty.

Where are the cars? stuck in the snow and calling for the SUVs to help.

Where are the SUVs? helping the cars out of the snow and driving easily home, worry free!

same goes for the rain when it's over roads...

where are the cars? trying to find another way home

where are the SUVs? driving through the water and going home, worry free.

    and for the family aspect...

My family consists of 2 parents and 2 children including myself which could all fit in a car, however, if we go on a vacation for a long period of time...where is the luggage going to go? It go in the trunk but probably would not fit.

what about wrecks and/or crashes? for example:

car hits car: where are the drivers? on their way to the hospital

car hits SUV: car driver finds ride to hospital. SUV driver finds ride home.

    Another example is hills:

I live in Eastern Kentucky which consists of many many many hills.

SUVs will actually get better mpg than cars when hills enter the picture.

car goes up hill, rpm's go up and more gas is used.

SUV goes up hill, rpm's don't go up because the engine does not have to try as hard.

And there are many arguements that can be given again SUVs that I am sure will present themselves however as stated above, SUVs sell well, extremely well, and will forever :)

  2. Credit crunch? What credit crunch? Lol.

Bloody typical, a huge pointless SUV with a 5.0L+ engine and chrome wheels.

Do you use that to tow anything? Or go off-road? Those tahoes struggle on wet grass for crying out loud.

This kind of thing just offends me. Why do people drive around in these things when they DON'T NEED THEM?!

Tell her to get something more suited to what she needs.

Sorry if I sound like I'm flaming, but I'm in the 3rd year of a degree in Sustainable Environmental Management, and every time I get in my car I see god knows how many stupid 4x4s with huge chrome wheels driving around Aberdeen, and they're usually driven extremely badly...

Again, these vehicles are totally pointless. The only 4x4s that should be produced are the basic models with hose-down interiors, for farmers and public authorities to use. They're the only people who need them. My dad has a LR Discovery. Yes, it has a large engine (by UK standards) a 2.5 turbo diesel. But it also has a bloody great towbar on the back and a liberal coating of mud. Why? Because he's a farmer! He uses it for its intended purpose!

I can definately add this to my list of most pointless posts.

What is your problem? I am sorry that my mother's vehicle is not the one that you want her to have but if you want another one for her then you can feel free to buy her one. What if a person simply likes SUVs? There are very few people in this world that buy an SUV simply for towing and/or hauling purposes. Honestly I think you need to get a life if the only thing you can find to do with your time is tell other people how pointless their vehicles are. And whats worse, you have no idea what you are talking about.

The point of "Showroom" is to let people post pics and info about their vehicles. I see nothing in the description relating to crucifying people about what they drive.

    Get a life!

  3. no, never, absolutly, positively, 100%, NO! NO! NO! The only reason I would accept them merging is if they plan to un-merge once this economy scare is over. I do not want General Motors to have anything to do with Chrysler Co. I am a die-hard chevy fan and will be until the day I die. Ask the person who's post is above mine and he will confirm that this merger would upset me greatly. GM and Chysler have battled for years over sales and the car world would simply never be the same again, well for America anyway. Not only that, I do not like Chrysler vehicles. There is only 1 and only 1 vehicle they produce that I would consider putting in my garage and that is the Challenger. The other cars they make are worthless in my opinion and they would simply ruin General Motors. (please no hate posts please, this is simply from my opinion and hate posts clutter the threads). And since my opinion serves no purpose other than being only an opinion, there are other things at stake. The way that GM and Chrysler produce their vehicles, and by that I mean thier style of their vehicles, is very different. They could never mix all the styles together. And trying would most definately end up in epic battles over who's style is better. (*coughs* CHEVY *coughs*) What good would a car comapny be if all they do is argue all day? Nothing would ever get accomplished, so they should not consider anything except a possibility to continue their epic car battles. There is just no way that it would work. Absolutly, Positively, NO! NO! NO!

well now that I have vented I do believe that I feel better :)

  4. I believe every word Porsche says. Sure, the GTR has launch control, AWD, and alot of power but there is just no way thta is could have beaten the 911 Turbo, let alone the 911 GT2. There is just absolutly no way. I think the Japanese are just over-rating their "Godzilla" car to an extremem. Yea, the GTR fans are happy that a new one is one the road now, but that is no reason for Nissan to get a big head over it.

P.S. C/D re-tested the new Corvette ZR1's time earlier this week and found it to be a true time. In fact, every single specification that Chevrolet gave (0-60, quarter mile time, top speed, everything)were true. At least Chevrolet is honest. C/D is going to do the same thing with the GTR too but they have yet to release the time of which they will be doing so.

  5. I share the same opinion. a smart move for Chrysler Co. would be to put a V8 into the Viper instead of the current V10. This would mean better fuel economy and a cheaper cost to build the car. I am not even sure why they put a V10 in it to begin with because, they wanted to compete with the Corvette, which at that time, had a V8 in it for the last 39 years. But I suppose if the Viper gets killed off that will leave the foreign car competition wide open for the the Corvette, more specifically, the ZR1

  6. Thats really cool, over here in the UK i'm looking at insurance on cons, a Ford Focus ST170 is over 2 grand (about $4000) a year. Males are more expensive, the more power the more it is, classics or sports cars are a no no for many years for most people (you can get insured but it costs a fortune).

Anyway interior looks stunning, much nicer than most modern cars, why has American interiors gone so backwards, that's so much nicer that the new Vett.

I rode in my cousin's 2008 coupe last weekend and loved it, I thought the interior was absolutly wonderful. But that is most likely because that is what we are used too over here. You guys are used to smaller engines but really nicer interiors whereas we are used to huge engines in everything we make, and an interior to match, but doesn't not neccessarily stand out. So where you come from really does make a difference i guess. Any one from UK I asked talked about how cheaply the Corvette is made, but pretty much any American you ask can only smile when the name Corvette is mentioned and has not a single negative word about it.

P.S. thanks for the comment about my interior, it's not a stock job though. A 1977 model should have a solid color all throughout the interior and that woodgrain should definatley not be there. But I love the way it looks now and do plan to keep it that way :)

  7. alot of people think that it is expensive but really it isnt. In America, males are alot more to money for car insurance as opposed to females...It is even more for a sports car. But, this car is over 25 years old which means it can qualify for a classic car license plate, which is much cheaper on insurance. So it's actually better for younger guys to get a classic sports car to drive, which I know sounds funny but it's true lol :)

  8. jealous :(

nice car dude. how old are you? if you're 18-19, you're very lucky to be driving a vette at that age. i'm 18 and i drive a corolla. :(

I am only 14 at the moment, I will be 15 on the 28th of this month. So I do not drive it yet but mostly sit in it and try to judge things becaue it's going to be difficult to drive due to it's extremely long front end lol

  9. Beautiful Vette Redvette! I was just on google and was looking for the 1977 ad that had a red vette (maybe 78 though?) but I found this instead.

She'll look great! Good luck with it! :)

that is the exact red we are getting it painted lol

  10. Hope it's ok that I started a different thread for this car, if it's not, then I will take my stuff out of this one and put it in the thread with my car...

Anyhow, this is my mom's 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ...

    ou19bm.jpg

White Diamond tricoat paint with Cashmere (beige) interior. 5.3 liter engine with 320 hp and 340 lb.ft. torque. It's got special order wheels, power-deploy running boards, navigation system, rear view camera, and a view other cool things that keep my mom from running iy into things lol :)

  11. WOW 0o, Im stunned... nice car there dude. How much did it cost?

we got a steal on it. These cars in it's current condition are booked for $15,000 but we got it for $10,000. After i get it painted (red) and fix the brakes and stuff the value will jump to about $25-30,000. But I never plan to sell it. :)

  12. This is my car...a 1977 Chevrolet Corvette. And for those who don't know me, this is the very car that inspired my Xbox Live gamertag (I realize it's white but we are getting it painted red in a couple of weeks) :)

    5by747.jpg

She is all-origional with 59,000 miles, she's got a 350 cu engine with 180hp mated to an automatic tranmission (though I would prefer a manual but hey, it's a corvette so I'll be fine with it lol), and she's got a new, 2-tone, red-white interior. I am getting the front and back wings removed and re-doing some of the chrome. She's my pride and Joy :)

  13. Seems like the current trend is to post your pics from TDU...I think I will give it a try. :) (I will apologize in advance for the picture quality...I have to go into my house, go to the photo gallery, and then take a picture with my cell phone and upload them to my comutor because of the adsence of a transfer case)
