  1. That's pretty cool. Do you enter your Volvo into any car shows?

Every chance we get. Both of us have been rather busy this summer so have not been to as many as we would like. But once the fall season starts up, expect us to be at all of them lol. We have never seen another here in the states. But granted, we have never really been that far away looking lol

  2. Wait, how many of these does your Grandfather have again?

It was 3. But one of them was bought strictly for parts, so was scrapped after everything valuable was stripped from it lol. Now we have one for show and another on it's way.

  3. Hello, hello people of TDU:C. Let me introduce you to two of my friends.

(Sorry for the picture quality. This is a cell phone camera.)

We have a 1959 Volvo PV544 Sport. It has an inline-4 engine with 80hp. There are about 71k original miles on the car and it is the process of restoration. here are some pics from the last 2 days.

Here is the new one with our 1958 that we have already showroom phresh.

  4. I can post this here because, unlike the TDU2 forums, a thread of this nature will not turn into a flame/fanboy war on these forums :)

Shelby SuperCars to Bugatti: Oh, it's on!

Despite radically different approaches, Shelby SuperCars and Bugatti have been playing a high-speed game of one-upmanship for years. First the Veyron took the prize with a 253.8 mph top speed run in 2005. SSC stepped in and bested that two years later with the Ultimate Aero TT. And just recently, Bugatti threw down the gauntlet once again with its 267.8-mph Veyron Super Sport.

Don't think for one minute though that the Veyron SS will go unchallenged for long. The two-three year spread between Bugatti/Shelby bouts may lead us to believe that the Veyron will hold the crown for at least the next few years, but according to reports, SSC isn't prepared to wait that long.

Our compatriots over at Jalopnik quote sources that SSC has a new supercar in the works that could debut this summer. Congratulating their French rivals, the American firm will reportedly take on the Bugatti benchmark with a new Jason Castriota-designed package. Whether they can squeeze out an extra dozen miles remains to be seen, but we'll enjoy watching them try.

  5. Report: Lotus terminating entire European dealer network

Not the shape of Lotus things to come? – Click above for high-res image gallery

Lotus plans to reinvent itself, and in addition to a range of new products, a dealership makeover is in the cards. PistonHeads reports that Lotus CEO Dany Bahar sent out a letter to the company's European dealers informing them that their contracts will be terminated as of July, 2012. Why the long notice? The company's current contract with its dealers stipulates that Lotus must give two years notice prior to contract termination. The move will likely result in many dealers losing their ability to sell Lotus' wares, but current dealers will reportedly be given the opportunity to re-apply for a new contract.

Back in June Lotus announced to the world that it was entering the "Dawn of a New Era." Lotus has reportedly been spending its time and money picking up ex-Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin employees in an effort to build up its brand as a high-performance luxury make.

This rather surprises me as I thought Europe was a good market for Lotus vehicles? I know they don't sell well here in the states.

  6. I see this failing.

People in the UK are never going to accept a Chevrolet as a decent car, even if it's the best car ever made. And that's really not a bad thing. I would like to see more of the world accept GM vehicles, but, GM don't really seem to care about the rest of the world. They wonder why the Euro's dont buy their vehicles. But, when they actually decide to send one over there, it's LHD and stripped of ever option you can get for them here in the States. That's like Mercedes sending a C300 over here in RHD stripped of all options with a higher price tag. It just doesn't work.

But with the RHD Corvettes and Camaros, it does look like they are finally making some sort of effort. Better than nothing I suppose.
