  1. With the current shape that Atari and Eden are in, I higly doubt any DLC will grace our consoles.

However, to contribute to the thread, I will say the C6 Corvette. I could care less in what form it comes, but it deserves to be in the game.

Agreed, the 1956 Corvette is alright, but we need some current Corvettes. No ZR1? That car is insane, it's Jeremy Clarkson approved. I'm happy they gave us the Camaro, Charger, Viper, Mustang etc., but there is a serious lack of 60s/70s muscle. And some trucks would be awesome but that's not happening, cause them Europeans will never go for that...guess they've never seen a truck pull.

  2. I love that they put offroading in the game... I love it A LOT. But we need stuff like this...

... instead of a Q7. So far we've only confirmed one SUV. No pickups? No Jeeps? Seems kind of lame. At least an SUV from an American manufacturer would be nice.

    Mud would be awesome!

Amen brother, that is what we need. Maybe a GMC Topkick Ironhide Edition?

[mod edit:] Please do not quote images, thanks!

  3. I don't think trucks are the only option for serious offroading. I am 100% sure that cars like certain Land Rover SUV's and perhaps even a few of the line ML/X5 are just as capable of offroading, never mind even talking about classic Land Rovers and the Mercedes G-Class (Long wheelbase, Short wheelbase with 3 doors and Short wheelbase convertible). Being offroad-capable is not depending on solely ride-height. Also, I might be wrong, but those American pick-ups are very long and often very high, and that could get you in just as much trouble as a too low rideheight.

Also, did you see any difficult offroad tracks in TDU2 sofar? They are just retextured asphalt routes on which I'm sure sportscars will perform just as good as on the road, with the only difference being dirt and some more sliding.

You're right, I forgot to mention Land Rovers. They are pretty good off-road machines.

Good point, ride height isn't the only thing thats necessary, and I should've been clearer, but trucks have huge engines. Up to 100 horsepower more than European SUVs, not to mention chunkier tires with deeper treads. And the only truck thats especially long that I can think of is the SuperCab F-250/350, but its got such a huge diesel, its pretty safe off the road.

I suppose I'm thinking too much into the offroad aspect, and that it will be just gravel roads. Oh well...

  4. Here's my concern. Taking a look at the pictures of the Q7 covered in mud just looked strange. I'm worried that the cars they will give us to offroad in aren't really going to be offroad cars. I mean, real offroading kinda requires some ground clearance, and while your Q7s, Cayennes, and Touaregs probably have the same ground clearance as trucks...it's still not enough. That's why trucks are lifted so often. But you never see lifted Cayennes. My point is, (and correct me if I'm wrong) we kinda need trucks to offroad in. Or at the very least, lifting options for all SUVs. Don't get me wrong, I love those European SUVs, but more for on the road. And I'm sure they'll give us a Ram SRT10 and other street trucks, but thats just what they are...street trucks.

  5. Well, i would disagree, most off road capible trucks are usally modifilied, stock they would really be that much better off road then something like a range rover or a hummer h2,the drivers would just be more reckless seeing how they have a lot less to break.

I have to disagree, if you look at a Cayenne or Q7, they still have less ground clearance than a lot of trucks. Any Ford with an FX4 package or any Chevy Z71 come stock pretty high. PLus, trucks (especially diesels) have a lot more power to climb hills and such.

And not to mention..what looks better covered in mud, a Cayenne or a Silverado?

  6. actually, that does depend on the region one lives in. in the states, and particularly states such as texas, montana, or wyoming where there is lots of land and land rich people, a truck such as the f-450 King Ranch is way more preferred than a supercar. not saying they dont have them, but the truck will get FAR more use than the car.

and if the driver/owner is a multi-millionaire and enjoys his truck, would that qualify as his version of the High Life?

I agree 100%, and I am from Texas and if i was a millionaire the first thing I'd do would be to blow $50,000 on a King Ranch then another $4000 on a lift kit. The High Life is about blowing money on ridiculous things just because you can. No one needs a $50,000 truck, a cheaper one would work, but someone living the highlife would buy the King Ranch package because they can.

  7. Anyone who thinks pick-ups aren't "high-life" enough are sadly mistaken.

The Ford F-450 King Ranch costs upwards of $60,000 and has a 6.5 L V-8.

The GMC Topkick/Chevy Kodiak costs up to $80,000.

Not all pick-ups are for blue-collar construction workers. They are actually incredibly expensive.

  8. Instead of having the servers generate a plate number, just do a custom one.

The only problem I have with that is there are too many immature people are going to think it's funny to put stupid things statements on their plates.

Agreed. And I would be too tempted to be one of those immature people..PEN15..see? I can't help it.

  9. Today I was surprised to find in a U.S Xbox magazine some info about TDU2. Not only that, it gave some interesting info about houses. There is a customization option, but it didn't go into detail. It offered a few pictures of very high-end houses (I would expect nothing less). And it also said the most-prestigious purchase is...a yacht! Pretty sweet, right? A few other notable things I read included the ability to walk around freely, sit in and drive your friends cars, and physics that are supposed to be as real as it gets.

I'm going to try something bold here. This thread has nothing to do with the cars of TDU2 or their features, but rather about how they are changing the concept of houses in the game.

The concept of houses in the first TDU was actually kinda why I bought the game. I've never seen it in any other game. But the house in TDU was really no more than a place to keep your cars and to change clothes. I read in that French magazine or whatever langueage it was, I don't remember, that there will be a deal of customization in your house in the second TDU. Does anyone know any more details or have any comments?

  10. That's the problem with american cars. There's no passion...it's all about power and speed for y'all. The bigger, the better....

It's my opinion...and as you say I don't understand the appeal in those cars/trucks.

What is the appeal for you? The black smoke rising in the sky? The tires spinning? The smell of rubber..?

EDIT: I just want to add something:

I understand that there are different points of view about those things. For some it's about the mechanical aspect of it. They like the power of what an engine can do and things like that, and that's their passion.

What created my passion for cars is that some of them are like artworks. Every time Lamborghini or Ferrari create a new car, it's like Kandinsky or Mondrian made a new painting. It's more than just an engine and four wheels.

If you take the Ferrari 250 GTO for example; it's like driving the Mona Lisa with an orchestra instead of the engine. It's art, it's passion.

Enough with the metaphors and on with the conclusion: Different points of view equals different types of passion.

That's why I don't understand enormous and powerful trucks, but I understand why some people enjoyed them.

Honestly, I don't know what the appeal is. The best answer I can give is pride. Most of our cars have a long history, some of which started just years after the car itself was first produced. We're just proud of our cars, but not in a stupid-American way. And like Firecatman said, trucks are so useful. You have the F-150 which can be used for haulin hay on the ranch with the King Ranch Edition or it can take down a sports car on the track with the SVT Lightning Edition. Or you can just use it as a comfortable family car with the basic F-150.

We all like our different cars, and I can't quite explain why we like trucks, but I suppose they're just in our blood, and America has grown up with them.

But I respect everyone else's car likes and dislikes - I suppose it all depends on where we are and what we've grown up with.

  11. What the...

Some people don't realize that this is a racing game.......

Have you ever seen a diesel truck drag race, blackhole? Way more horses than any little Italian car. Personally, I think big trucks like Rams and Silverados should be included, but I know they won't because people overseas don't understand the big truck appeal like us Texans do. They'll put their Land Rovers, Touaregs, Cayennes, which I'm okay with, but I'm willing to bet, the only pick-up they put in the game is the Saleen Supertruck or the Ram Srt10, like in Forza 3.

  12. True that, I like damage, but in a game where it sort of...makes sense, like forza/gran turismo and all that. I guess the best thing atari/eden could do to satisfy everyone is just set it as an option or something, where you can turn it off while racing with your friends and on when playing solo for example!

As for ferrari not wanting to damage their cars...I agree their acting childish, just like you can't paint their cars the way you want (although you can mod that). But a game like this without Ferrari's...would be hard, at least for me, not that I'm a huge Ferrari-man, but I'd still kind of miss 'em...

I like the idea of turning damage on/off. Sometimes if you hate a car, it's fun to launch yourself off a freeway at 100+mph....in a Chevy SSR for example. But I don't want to see my Gallardo all banged up. I like the idea of being able to get out of the car and walk around, but any more freedom than that would be to complicated. Personally, I'd like TDU2 to take on more of a simulation of living the high life with the nice houses, cars, clothes etc. Speaking of which, if clothes are included again, atari/eden needs to rethink their brands. Who wears Ecko? And what's Ben Sherman?? I felt a little gay wearing those designer name brand suits.
