  1. Thanks a bunch for your help!!! :)

    1. Actually I like the FOV, it's only the 2D overlays that I'm interested in changing. Thanks for the tip on the videos, trying that now. D-Gen
    2. I was affraid that might be the answer. What about the startup videos? Anyway to skip or replace with higher res so that they don't crash the game at startup. The reason why I want to do this is because I love playing t he game in 5040. It's very immersive. The only bad thing are the 2D graphics are all streched out. That and the videos are crashing at start. Anyone else have any ideas?
    3. I am interested in creating a mod that fixes 2d graphic distortions caused by running TDU at ultra-wide resolutions: 5040x1050, 3840x1024, 3072x768. These resolutions are possible when running TDU on a system with multiple monitors setup with either the Matrox Triple Head 2 Go or the ATI Eyefinity graphics cards. Problems arise at these resolutions because of the way TDU determines the screen positions of 2D graphic Overlays. It appears that TDU sets percentages of horizontal and vertical screen resolution to determine the width and height of the Menu, dials, and maps. Here are some examples: (Click for Full Size) [imgLINK]http://mysite.verizon.net/degenatron/files/TDU/TDUs001.jpg[/imgLINK] [imgLINK]http://mysite.verizon.net/degenatron/files/TDU/TDUs002.jpg[/imgLINK] [imgLINK]http://mysite.verizon.net/degenatron/files/TDU/TDUs003.jpg[/imgLINK] [imgLINK]http://mysite.verizon.net/degenatron/files/TDU/TDUs004.jpg[/imgLINK] [imgLINK]http://mysite.verizon.net/degenatron/files/TDU/TDUs005.jpg[/imgLINK] As you can see at these resolutions the 2D graphics become horribly stretched. Also, the GPS and Dials are pushed to the outside edges when using the In-Car view and Hood view which makes them very hard to use. Another problem that has arisen from using these high resolutions is that the game has trouble on start-up. The opening videos won’t display at these resolutions. The Matrox drivers compensate for this by minimizing the application as the animations run, so the player ends up having to click repeatedly on the application to maximize it which will allow it to run the next animation, which then causes the application to minimize again. This process is repeated until TDU gets to the menu, then it works fine (besides being distorted). The goals of the 5040 Mod would be: 1. Allow the opening animations to run on startup or skip them altogether. 2. Resize the 2D GPS and Dials when driving. 3. Reposition 2D GPS and Dials to appear on the center monitor. 4. Resize the Menus when navigating in-game (House, Garage, Dealers) 5. Resize the Menus when out of game (Main Menu, Pause screen) 6. Resize the Island Map and all of the distorted Icons on the map (Some are OK). Everything else would be left as “Vanilla” as possible. So the question is: Is this Mod even possible? I’ve been reading through the forums and I read a lot of information on editing the textures themselves, but I haven’t seen anything on changing their size or position on-screen. This leads me to believe this may be hard-coded into the game and not changeable. That would be a letdown, but the game is still very playable even with the 2D graphics distorted. At the bare minimum I am hoping to find some fix for the opening animation “crashing”. Please bear in mind that this is not a “Mod Request”. I am completely willing to do all of the work myself. I’ve Moded other games before and I understand the amount of work this mod may potentially require. This is simply a proof-of-concept evaluation request. Thanks for your time, D-Gen
    4. HeLeX, Sponge means "Canned Air". It's just a can of compressed air for blowing the gunk out of computers. You can get it at any computer supply shop. Caution: Be sure not to turn canned air upside down when dusting out your equipment. It will blow out liquid air which will freeze anything it hits. If it hits circuit boards they WILL crack and be damaged; if it hits skin you WILL get frost bite. Alway hold the can straight up (once it starts getting empty you can tilt the can to about 30~45 degrees if needed).
    5. Really? When I was shopping for wheels the MOMO had a rubber & plastic wheel. That's why I had gone with the G25. I wonder if logitech is phasing out the G25 and raising the quality of the MOMO to replace it.
    6. "...whenever I change the option to HDR then it doesn't allow me to change the AA..." That's a function of you video card. Basicly it's using the same part of the GPU to do the work of anti-aliasing or HDR so i can't do both at the same time. The card is basicly saying "if you're gonna do THIS, then I'll have to limit you over here." "...what is HDR?" HDR - High Dynamic Range lighting attempts to simulate to way your eyes react to changing light conditions. For example, if you are in a dark tunnel looking out into a bright summer day, the outside features will appear to washed out/faded while feature inside the tunnel will appear to be darker. Then as move out if the tunnel into the sunlight, you eyes will have to adjust and you get a burst of whiteness that will the quickly fade as you "eyes" adjust. HDR does all of this on the monitor. In Test Drive it's very pronounced as you pass through the shadows of trees or enter / exit tunnels. Hope that helps, D-Gen
    7. G25 Wheel - almost got the MOMO, but couldn't resist the leather of the G25.
    8. That card should allow you to go max on everything. Maximum Resolution. HDR: on Antialiasing: x4 (perfer x2 because you get a slight performance hit, but not much return at x4) Detail: High You should be able to run that without any trouble. You won't know until you try. ;)
    9. Delete the Radial.CBD like Streak recommended. If that doesn't work: Post the exact wording of your error message. Then: (I assume you are using windows XP. Let me know if it is something different.) Try this as a test: Right-click "My Computer" and Select "Manage" In the Computer Management Console, click on "Device Manager" Double-Click "Sound, video, and game controllers" Right-Click on you sound card and choose Disable Your sound card is now off. Reboot your computer. Run the game. Of course there will be no sound, but what we are testing for is the crash. If you game runs for 10 minutes or more, you can be sure that you have a problem with your sound drivers. If the game still crashes, you've got problems somewhere else, possibly in your memory. If the game Does NOT Crash: Download and update you sound card drivers. If the game DOES crash: Disable / uninstall anything that runs during startup (WinAMP Agent, Anti-virus, Steam, uTorrent, ect.) and then reboot. The idea is to free up as much memory as possible and test. Continue to leave the sound card disabled until you find the cause. I suspect it will be a driver issue (Sound or Video). I would not rule out hardware failure though. Be sure to: Update Sound and Video drivers. Update to the latest version of Direct X. Install Service Pack 3 (for Windows XP). Do each ONE AT A TIME AND TEST THE GAME BETWEEN EACH. Once you've done all that, it's time to start thinking about hardware problems. Also, to turn your sound card back on, follow the same step above except choose "Enable" on the last step. Good Luck, D-Gen
    10. Actually the profiles were working fine, it was my monitors that was choking. I was launching from both - I tried Full Screen from the Mod Tool and from the shortcut - both had the same effect - if the curent profile was set to the wrong resolution, then it would still be wrong after adjusting the settings while in Windowed Mode. However, all is well now: I created a new test profile and it copied the setting from my Main Profile (kinda like how Windows uses the "Default User" to create new profiles). So, after consulting with the kiddo, I deleted the other two "bad" profiles and just made new ones from scratch. Done. Some minor glitches still remain, but they are a completely different can of worms that I'll make a new thread for. Thanks for all the great help, you guys got me back on the road. I'm a techy, so i'll try to give back any chance I get. D-Gen
    11. Worked like a charm... ...After I un-did all of the damage I had done trying to fix it in the first place. I first went off the track when the game started freezing up after I installed the new monitor. I now know that the two were completely unrelated. It was the Radial file that was messing me up in the begining. If I had come here, read through some of the trouble shooting stuff, and not jumped to conclusions; I would have saved myself a lot of time and effort. Once I got the game put back together, I was able to launch wih the mod tool and switch back to my main profile, which has the proper resolution set. Now the only trouble is that my other two profiles won't set to the proper resolution. I can luanch in windowed mode, and switch to those profiles, but it seems that when I change the resolution settings in windowed mode, it doesn't carry over to when I launch in full screen mode. Any ideas? This is relatively minor, since my main profile is working, but I'd like to know a fix just in case I have trouble with my main profile in the future and also one of the secondary profiles is my kid's profile and I'm sure she's going to want to play eventually.
    12. Thanks man! I'll give that a shot when I get home. D-Gen
    13. Anyone know some command line switches for TDU? I've gotten into a spot where TDU starts in a resolution not supported by my monitor. I can hear the startup videos running and I can hear myself paging through menu options, but I can't see anything. I got into this mess by selecting a profile that had been saved while running with a monitor I no longer have. As you know, TDU switches the menu resolution to match whatever the current profile resolution is saved to. Now here's the crazy part: I have completely un-installed the game, including wiping out the Test Drive Unlimited folder under the Application Data folder in my profile, cleaning out the registry of all TDU entries, and moving my saved game files out to a backup location. After re-install, it's still crashing my monitor when it starts. Either the default resolution the game installs at is out of range for my new monitor, or somehow it is remembering the bad resolution settings. I need some way to either force it to run at it's default settings or force it to run at a specific resolution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. D-Gen
