  1. They got too caught up in trying to make a game that can do everything, and wound up making a game that can do almost nothing.

Well that's part of what makes TDU franchise unique, it's diversity of things to do. I think the problem is with the implementation of how they done things. TDU2 really consist of four careers; pro racer and illegal racer, the main two. Cop and outlaw are the two sub-careers. Eden mixed the main two careers together, when they should have been separate but equal. So the illegal racers are bound to the same rules and restrictions as the pro racers; required licenses, schools, championships, and cups. Those schools where more challenging than was needed for the very casual racers in TDU2, but to easy for the more hard core racers. What makes it bad on the very casuals racers, Eden fixed it where the big money was in the racing. And there's no point in re-racing those championships and cups, because the reward isn't the same as the first time, so that left the less skilled players struggling to get enough money. From bad to worst, Eden built a driving engine with an identity complex. It does not know whether its arcade or sim. It makes a great cruising driving engine, but very frustrating for racing. A good many people got frustrated and stop playing TDU2, because Atari would/will/have not made any considerations for them.

So, it's not that they tried to give too many things to do in TDU2, they forced people into doing things to get to other things, and that took away from the total freedom feeling that was in TDU.

BTW. What are those stars by this thread mean?

  2. ;425731']It's not Eden's fault. They are not in the position to make the game they actually want to make - almost no development houses are - and that means they just listen to Atari.

    -Leadfoot

That's not completely true. Valve does not allow EA to order them around when Valve is working on a title for EA. Eden picked the wrong time to strike, they should have done it mid development on TDU2.

  3. A vote of NO Confidence in Atari!

Everyone by now have read the TDU2's FAQ, I'm assuming. Based on the responses they gave, we have formed some very strong opinions about Atari and concerning TDU2. Another forum poster pretty much summed up Atari attitude in one statement below.

"It's nice to hear your feedback, but this is our game and we will decide if something needs to be changed, we will not be swayed by consumer opinion."

    ebig2000

And that's really "sugar coating" it. Atari Stinks! Arrogant, self centered, disrespectful, delusional, and stubborn are attributes that come to mind when I think about Atari's attitude, after reading the FAQ. It reminds me of EA's attitude about the NFS franchise. EA's attitude kelp the NFS franchise on the verge of folding under for many years. EA finally come up with a strategy that has stabilized the NFS franchise and put in a safe zone. They have a very good PR system in place now. The gaming world stuck with them doing their trial and error time. Now Atari need to ask themselves, will the gaming community be as patient and long suffering with them as it was/is with EA? EA and Atari has/is burning to many bridges for me to further support NFS and TDU franchises.

As for me, I vote NO confidence in Atari.

    What's your vote.

Well, I was reminded of the fact that Eden has suffered dearly for their part in TDU2 and it really was not right for me to "kick a wounded dog." So I do apologize to Eden. I have made the necessary corrections I could to the thread to fully focus on whom it should, Atari.

BTW. I give no credit to EA, with the exception of being experts at BSing there customers.

  4. Activation limit-That one bad "apple"!

I want to thank Atari/Eden for putting TDU 2 on the market. With its flaws, shortcomings, and oversights; TDU 2 is, by far, the best automobile game on the market. TDU2 is second to none, when comes variety of real world elements in a car game. There's a little something in TDU 2, for anyone that likes car games. I have gotten more joy out of TDU 2 than any other car game I've ever played. I honestly could see myself playing this game for years to come. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen, because the activation limit is going to put a stop to that vision.

I looked through the list of all the questions being addressed. I started to comment on a few of the given answers, but only one of the answers given takes presidence over all the other ones.

    Hey guys,

Why is there an activation limit on this game?

As part of the security and anti-virus measure, we have to enforce some activation limit.

Hope this adressed some of your FAQs =)

    Meixy

To us PC players, the looming cloud of activation limit, renders any, if any, improvements and request made to and monies spent on TDU 2, Useless. So if Atari/Eden made TDU2 the "perfect"(whatever perfect means to you) game, but left the activation limit on the game, all those improvements would mean nothing. Well, you could keep buying the game over and over. That would be good for Atari.

The answer that was given to this particular question is completely unrelated to the question and the issue it poses. The answer given is, as insulting to the paying customers' intelligence, as the activation limit is to our money. To me, that's a little to much "F-U" from Atari to its paying customers. All long as that activation limit is on TDU 2, I'll never by another TDU, if there be another one, and it's very likely that I'm not going to buy anymore of Atari's products again. Once my activation limits are up on TDU 2, that's going to be the end of the TDU franchise for me.

  5. Ask a programmer. ;)

Plus, modding is a bit selfish. Only PC gamers can mod. Eventually, we might be able to mod the game like we currently do in TDU1, but what about the console players?

I do sympathies with you. This is an issue that both pc and console gamers need to stand together on. Cross platform modding for our games. But more than likely, we will make this as console vs pc players war while the game makers continue to rob us all of good game features.

  6. I don't understand what your problem is with this? If you believe that most sim racers would not be interested in TDU2 in the first place, then what harm have ISN done by reviewing it? If some sim racers were curious, they would've found out one way or another.

I'm glad you enjoy the game, but your posts make you appear to be wearing 'rose-tinted glasses', as the saying goes. If the devs fix up the game, I'll order a pair for myself :p

My point being, if ISR was not going to judge TDU 2 fairly then they should not have reviewed it all. If ISR would not have reviewed the game, that would have been a clue to the hard core sim racing fans, maybe this is not the game for you all.

You being a mod of a TDU franchise fansite; or are you, because you are confusing me?... Make no mistake about, I'm not lost on the problems and some bad concert implementation that when into TDU 2, I'm just a recovering NFS-aholic. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of what a racing/car game franchise is. The NFS franchise is "bulletproof". No matter how much EA refuses to give the NFS fans the game they really want, a TDU 2 with NFS in its' title. And no matter how many "rejects" sold on advertising, false promises, and BS that EA churn out year after year, in the eyes of the game reviews and like, it gets a "pass". TDU franchise is not "favored", on its merits and strong support of its fans is why it exist and will continue, hopefully. TDU franchise give more of what we want than any NFS i've ever played, NFS Underground 2 is the only close. So yes, it's fair to say I have on "Rose-colored Shades", because if TDU franchise is going to survive, we(the fans) are going to have to make it happen. I believe it's worth it.

  7. As for ISR's affinity towards pure racing games, they're called Inside Sim Racing for a reason

Well they should not have reviewed TDU 2 at all then. What people choice to spend on a game is thier responsibility. I'm not talking about piracy, just choose to buy the game when the price drops to what they consider proper.

  8. ...What was our bias ?? We like good racing games' date=' not ones that are poorly done ? [/quote']

I my opinion: ISR has an affinity toward pure racing games and those racers that leave you no real choice but to race. Neither TDU nor TDU 2 fit those molds, by design, but ISR judged TDU 2 by those measures. Atari/Eden dared to be different and made two "racers" that "march by the beat of a different drummer." ISR, with extreme prejudice, tore apart TDU 2 and shined the most negative light on a product, reviewed it based on its bugs and weakness and dismissed its strengths.

  9. I feel like the TDU franchise is not being treated "Fairly" by the gaming world like Forza, Need for Speed & Shift, Codemasters racers, and Grand Torismo Motor Sport. I was very hesitant to buy TDU, because of the negative and lack of info on it. After I bought TDU, two years after its release and for $20. I found it hard to believe a good this good and massage in scope and variety was not receiving the same welcome as those above. TDU itself, has outlasted most racing that got so much press.

It does not seem like Atari put the same advertising dollars in it that those other companies due, but can advertisement really make that big of a difference to those "legit" gaming editors?

So what do you all think, TDU franchise being treated: Fairly, Not Fairly, I really have not thought about it I dont care.

  10. I cannot understand why there's so much anti socialism in online racing games. If you approach some people they just jump to somewhere else. Some people try to ram you. Not many people are willing to race. TDU2 's environments is one of the coolest just to hangout in with your friends and to met people, but most are not wiling to do it. I thought the purpose for being online is to interact with other people, was I wrong?

  11. @oshaylinux: Eden can be blamed for TDU2's execution, not entirely but they still can. It's anybody's guess why car performances are so horribly wrong compared to the specs they enter, and Eden in some cases lacked skill or experience.

I agree with you in part. Eden is paying for their part in the -not so great TDU2, but Atari, the publisher could have rejected the project and told Eden to go back and get it right. Atari did not do that, they choice to release the game in a poor state, so they ultimately should bear the blame.

  12. I really dont fine the game boring, but I see how it could be. The implementation of the schools and races. The schools should not have been mandatory, unless there was a pro racing career. They should not have contained the races within the mandatory schools, it takes away for the exploration of the environment and the times when you just want to race.

The should have offered us several different roles to play in the game. It would have been good it they had made the cop mode a full career. A career as a pro driver could have complimented the schools well. Think, GRiD & DiRT mixed together. We have the illegal racers career. Just think how great that would have been to have at least three well defined careers to choice from...

I'll make this short and simple. They should have put a Simulation and Arcade driving models in TDU2.

The developers are beyond caring , atari never cared in the first place .can we just all agree on this game is nothing but a joke and leave it , I think it'd be easier for all of us.

No. I will not agree to that. If with all of TDU2's faults, it's still a very nice game to have. It has an addictive quality about it and this game has longevity to it. It's on of the few console2pc ports that is not keyboard + mouse or xbox 360 controller only.

  13. The only thing that would work for tdu2 would be a re-release , but with all things fixed , better advertising

I think that Atari doesn't realise how much money they could make and how much succes Tdu could have , there is no other game in which you could cruise so much , also there is no decent game with motorbikes , there is sbk but you can't cruise and I know that motorbikes have a lot of fans , including me .

The islands are brilliant , they could make some trucks and add delivery missions like in 18 wheels of steel

Tdu2 could be one of the best car games but it isn't , because of the developers......

We are like-minded on these things, but we just cant blame the devs. the publisher is the one who released the game in such a bad condition.

  14. I still go here because I like the people here and I like the non-TDU stuff being posted here. Not because of TDU and never ever because of TDU2.

I said the same thing when I let go of the nfs franchise, and I found it hard to let go also.

  15.

they don't have any money to support anything .

You might be the only person here who haven't ditched tdu2.

they can add all they like , unless they add hc mode back I'm never coming back

The fact, that you are still posting on a TDU and TDU2 fansite, shows that you have not given up on the game. I also like the HC mode and think it should have been the default driving engine with arcade as an option for those who so choose. It would have been the best of both world.

  16. I like your optimisim, but this is Atari. Remind me how long it's taken them to bring the exploration pack to the console platforms :)

Atari is all greedy companies, if they see making more money on the game it will continue to support it. With me being a PC only gamer, we know how it feels to be, on the tail in of things and in many cases, all together left out. It's to bad, us platform specific fanatics often times revel in the fact, that a game and/or its content and/or feature is exclusive to their platform of choice. They fail to consider, it will be them getting left out in the near future.

  17. What's the point of doing all that if we've all ditched the game due to the awful driving physics? :)

No we all have not ditched the game. I am a die hard TDU 2 supporter and there are many people still playing and will continue. People love a "come-back-kid" and if/when Atari/Eden stop their scwabbling and make the changes, adjustments, fixes, and add more content, the people will come back.

  18. +1

Its a racing game not some social "sims" place.

Well it's not just a racing game. Social is the "big thing" in major games today. Look at the nfs they have built a whole "facebook" into them.

I think they did not go "sim" enough. They should have had furniture stores in the game and left the houses unfurnished and allowed us to furnish our own homes. They should have had a pet store in the game and allowed us to choose our own pets. They should have allowed us more interaction with our environment, like swimming in the pools, playing billiards(pool tables), Darts boards that we could use, ect... I cant get over how Eden thought a casino was a good idea, but all these other things where not.
