  1. Yes, the "official" forum is no place to seriously discuss TDU2 (can't offend the moderator there, ya know). Also, I would lay all blame on atari, as they are the publisher and financier. Eden could only make what atari told them to make, which, obviously, was a dumbed-down version of TDU1 so that it'll play on the consoles. How do you think they got TDU2 to work on a 5 year old XBOX, but most PC players will have to upgrade their RAM or GPU just to run it at all? TDU2 is shipping with more problems than TDU1 had (for PC gamers), and I will wait till (if?) atari decides to spend the $$ to fix it before I buy it. I hope a lot of people feel this way and we can let atari know how unhappy we are with this backward-stepping game of theirs.
  2. The car megapack atari put up for sale to PC people because we never got the monthly DLC that xbox did.
  3. Remember when the megapack was released? It seems it was accidentally released a little early, a Friday night if I remember. I was one of the first ones to grab the DL and post pics of them to the atari forum. Then, all of a sudden, it was down and you couldn't get the megapack from the atari site. It didn't come back till Monday, when it was "officially released". I think that little incident shows that atari, gamespy, whoever, doesn't do everything correctly all the time, and the little kerfluffle that is currently happening, is just another example. I always though gamespy only ran the logins/friends list thingy. I've seen an error trying to log in which said something to the effect of no login server found, or some such such do-daddle. Good to know, if atari keeps the TDU1 servers up.
  4. Online is the same as singleplayer (offline), just with real people driving around. Unfortunately, right now Test Drive Unlimited is Test Drive Severely Limited as the online servers are down and atari has no clue as to how to fix it(not that they ever did . . .). Most people, when online is working, just cruise around with each other, dodging AI traffic. The game is so old that we've all done the MP races ad nauseum and are content now with just cruising, either in HC mode, on bikes, or just normal cars in normal mode.
  5. Not only that, they're completely down now. Connection failure. Looks like when Atari tries to fix something *when they get around to it) they either go nowhere, or make it worse, LOL!
  6. I'd like to believe that, I really do. Trouble is, my experience with atari is not good. The cynic in me says atari wants to shut down the TDU1 servers to help push people to buy TDU2 (of course, I wouldn't dare say this on the official forum - I'd probably be banned for some perceived slight against atari!). Some PC people are saying it's just not for them, that it's even more of a console game than TDU1 - all arcade-y and stuff. BTW, I have no idea who was or wasn't in the TDU2 beta, my PC didn't "qualify", so I wasn't able to participate in the open one. I can't be the only LAN/WAN guy on these forums. Any network manager worth his salt knows you have to have another server set up and ready to go (and well tested!!) before you move over to the new server. And even then, you run both or have the old one ready to go as a backup if problems surface on the new one. But I guess atari just figures that's for paying customers. Either that or they need a whole new IT department.
  7. Yeah, same here. It's been like this for almost a week. Looks like atari either doesn't care or has no clue as to what they did to break it. People are opening trouble tickets with them (like that ever did any good . . .) and all they're getting back are canned responses. There's even some trying to suggest that the problem may be with the person's PC. Kinda' strange that people everywhere would get the same problem at virtually the same time. This does not bode well for TDU2. If atari hasn't figured out in the past 4 years how to keep a server up, how can we trust them to do any better with TDU2.
  8. Just a note to introduce myself. I've played TDU1 since March of '07 and look forward to TDU2. I like the Island Paradise mod by iLLusion. Hope to see y'all on the new Ibiza and Oahu islands in TDU2!
