PlayStation 4 Update 3.50 Available Now

PlayStation 4 Update 3.50 Available Now

As well as being hard at work closing down studios, Sony have also been hard at working further improving the PlayStation 4. Here are the 4 most notable features added/improved in 3.50:

Appear offline

Friend online notifications

Remote Play for PC and Mac

Custom Scheduled events

Appear Offline

Have you ever been on your PS4 and just wanted to chill out and watch a film or play on a game on your own with no interruptions only to be bombarded by messages and invites from one of those friends that do everything they can to drive you up the wall? *breathes* Well fear not, you can now appear offline and do your own thing.

Friend Notifications

Another feature that has been slightly copied from the Xbox is friend online notifications. For those of you who have friends that are seemingly attached to you at the hip you can now set a notification that pops up when they pop online so you can spend more precious time together. How sweet?

Remote Play

Remote Play is now not exclusive to handheld devices like the Xperia phones and the PS Vita. If you own a powerful enough PC or Mac you will be able to use it to play PS4 games by plugging your DualShock 4 controller in via USB. So if you really really want to you can play a bit of CoD or NFS whilst sat on the throne with your laptop on your lap. I think this will makes some peoples lives complete!

You can download the Remote Play software from here if you're running Windows 8.1 or higher and Mac OSX 10.10 or 10.11. The max resolution is only 720p but do you really need more than that when on the throne?

Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p

Default resolution – 540p

Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps)

Default frame rate – Standard (30fps)

There are a few other minor features that have been added but I'll let you head over to the PlayStation Blog to check them out as I'm sure you've had enough of my blabbering for one day.
