Need for Speed's March Update is Hot!

    New Hot Rod'ness

Information has dropped about the latest Need for Speed update called 'Hot Rods', due March 3rd, which will introduce Hot Rods and Drag Racing, together with some of the most wanted player base requests.

Hot Rods are one of the premier examples of car culture, taking an older-bodied car and cramming as much engine into it and then taking it to the drag strip (keep it legal folks!) and seeing how quickly you can run the distance produces some incredible examples of automotive madness. And NFS is giving you two, for FREE!

A familiar name in this scene is Ford, and so it makes sense that one of these is a Ford 1932 Hot Rod with the other being a mean mother called the Aaron Beck ‘BeckKustoms F132′ - a Mad Max Steampunk-future looking derivative.

The let's call it, 'standard' Hot Rod, has four unique Bodykits, enabling you to transform yours into a great new look: Soft Top, Coupe, Sedan and Pickup. Each of these then have a full set of customisation, including Hood, Lights, Grille, Exhausts, Bumpers and more. This is no everyone looking the same type deal, this is keeping in with the being able to make your car custom to your own (horrible) tastes that this NFS delivers so well.

Of course with these new straight-line devils you ideally want to seek out some strip clubs... the Drag Racing variety and you'll be glad to know these are added as new events with the inspiration being taken from previous NFS games:

Inspired by the Drag Events of previous NFS titles, these new events are the perfect place for you to get your speed fix.

Unleash a burnout on the starting line to prime your wheels, align in the start box and time your revs perfectly. Think wisely about the use of nitrous, as it may just influence the outcome of the event.

There will be five new Drag events for you to take part in; Neck to Neck, The Perfect Shifts, Drag the Town, Pedal to the Metal and Speed Tunnel.

The developers, Ghost Games, have shown themselves to be really open to the suggestions and feedback from their community, and so along with the new specialised vehicles comes manual transmission (finally!), a new Warehouse - giving extra space to store another five cars (yay!), improvements to the Wrap Editor - including a new coordinate display menu to make the positioning of your items much easier, improved text writing with Text Decals 2.0 and selectable fonts, where you can now simply select what you want and then type your text into the prompt that appears, along with some animation and notification updates to make the identifying of what is currently being worked on more reliable. And it wouldn't be right to drop the new vehicles and events without showering players with some achievements and trophies, so there are 3 of these coming too.
