Those five volumes sold 12.5 million copies, and the overall series sold 32.34 million copies in 2010 — more than double the copies sold in 2009 (14.721 million). Here are the top five best-selling comics in Japan of 2010: Rank Volume Copies Sold 1 One Piece #59 2.594 million 2 One Piece #57 2.579 million 3 One Piece #58 2.557 million 4 One Piece #60 2.492 million 5 One Piece #56 2.480 million Oricon's year-end book sales ranking chart for 2010 tabulates data from November 23, 2009 to November 21, 2010. 17 volumes from One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, Nodame Cantabile, Naruto, and other series each sold over 1 million copies this year. There were only 11 volumes in 2008 and 12 volumes in 2009 that accomplished that feat. Since the manga series launched in 1997, One Piece now has 200 million copies in print. The newest volume, #60, holds a record for having 3.4 million copies published in its first print run. It is the first book, since Oricon began reporting its book ranking charts in April of 2008, to sell over 2 million copies in its first week of sales — in just four days. I'm confused with this part. Are you saying have the earth as in viewed from space with a road moving away/toward it, or a picture representing earth with an image of a long stretch of road of Ibiza?

TDUCk will be taking that spot. ;)

The design is for those using resolutions more than 1024x768. According to our visitor stats only 3% of our visitors use that resolution and below and to be honest it limits you to what you can create. We're a community dedicated to a game, so it makes sense to use the most popular gaming resolution for our look. I've also dumped IE6 so if anyone is using that then you will have some issues show up, however if you're using a browser within the last 10 years then we should be good. It's funny, while I was planning 'four' FC changed to it's current look and I was like hmmm. The thinking behind this is '24 hours on an island'. Starts with the night sky (top), the sun rises (banner), the day is the main part (skyblue and light fresh main content) and then it goes back to night with (footer) with some of the sunset being shown in the buttons and links in said footer. I'm still considering adding something to the footer and have been playing around with ideas but nothing jumps out at me yet. :D I debated hard about losing the tarmac background as that is somewhat our trademark type thing, however with that background I was limited to certain schemes, however I may try and incorporate it somehow if the demand for it's return is their. I'll add this to the list, it's not a major thing but looks like you're not alone in this thinking. Thanks! That's a tough one as I could add more to the left side but at the end of the day if the thread content is long you will still end up with whitespace one way or the other. I could have it scroll down with you but I always hated those things personally. Yep I know but again change is a good thing and a lot of time people hate it but after a while they get used to it. Well I hope so anyway. :cheeky: Baldy flagged this upto me last night, it's one of the first things I'll be fixing. Yep all I have to do is upload the Speshul sparkle, that's an easy fix. It's annoying that Firefox doesn't show bad images as this is how these things get missed! All in all, thanks for the feedback, good or bad, I know things aren't complete with this and with the feedback you guys are giving it's making it easy to note down what needs sorted and then I can hopefully get around to sorting it.
-
Thanks for the feedback all. I have a list I've been composing from what I have seen myself and from what you guys have mentioned. It's still being worked on even though it's here but you will see some things change as the days go on.
-
Sorry I missed this. :( Happy Birthday mate, have a good one!!
-
Hey all, if you haven't noticed already - not entirely sure how that's possible - you will see that we are now sporting a new style, our fourth in fact which we have aptly named ....wait for it; 'four' As you can see it's a lighter version that the deathly black we have been known for and had in the past so yes it's a break from the usual but hey a random change of pants/underwear is always good! :bunny: Anyway there's still a few things we've got to sort and they will be taken care of in the next few days but if you do see something post it here and we'll get onto it and add it to the list. Also it would be good to get your feedback on what you guys and girls think so that we can cry in a corner after so much hard work. Cheers!

Washimiya, the Kuki City neighborhood that is home to the "Lucky Star shrine," hosted its first otaku matchmaking event on Sunday. According to the organizers of the "Ota-Konkatsu Washimiya Deai-Hen ~San-jigen no Kimi ni Todoke~" (Otaku Matchmaking: Washimiya Dating ~Reaching You in 3D~) event, seven couples were formed out of the 20 male and 20 female participants. A representative of the local chamber of commerce and industry's youth division acknowledged the high 35% success rate and added that the organizers want to run the event again — then mused aloud about how many times they can run the event in a year. The event began at 2:00 p.m. with the male and female participants going into separate rooms. The members of each room then introduced themselves to the other room via microphones and speakers. An hour later, the two sides met face-to-face and discussed various things such as their favorite characters. Everyone joined together to make soba noodles by hand before dining. At 7:00 p.m., each participant could choose up two candidates for their ideal mate and write those candidates' numbers down. (Each participant had the option of listing no candidates.) If two participants chose each other, they were declared a couple and received presents. The Mainichi Shimbun newspaper's Mantan Web site reports that many of those who did not "win" ended up asking each other out to go drinking. Washimiya is the home of Washinomiya Shrine, which was used as the basis for a location in Kyoto Animation's 2007 television adaptation of Kagami Yoshimizu's manga Lucky Star. It has since become a popular destination for anime fans, who make "pilgrimages" to the shrine. The concept for the dating event originated in 2009, when many visiting fans who filled out surveys said that they were interested in marriage. 386 males applied for 20 spots — or 19.3 applicants for every spot. 115 females applied for 20 spots, or 5.75 applicants for every spot. 42 people actually received the invitation emails, although only 40 actually took part in the event since two did not show up. The male entrants had to be between the ages of 18 and 40, be otaku, and pay 8,000 yen (about US$100). The female entrants had to be between the ages of 18 and 40 "be tolerant of otaku or better yet, be otaku or be sympathetic to otaku"; and pay 1,000 yen (about US$12). The Japan PEN Club and the Tokyo Bar Association both announced on Thursday that they opposed the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's new attempt to amend the Youth Healthy Development Ordinance. In addition, the general affairs division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly's Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) is meeting with manga creators on Monday on the matter. The current ordinance already prevents the sale and renting of "harmful publications" — materials that are "sexually stimulating, encourages cruelty, and/or may compel suicide or criminal behavior." The proposed Bill 156 would require the industry to also self-regulate the sale and renting of "manga, anime, and other images (except for real-life photography)" that "unjustifiably glorify or exaggerate" certain sexual or pseudo sexual acts. The revised bill will specifically target depictions of "sexual or pseudo sexual acts that would be illegal in real life, or sexual or pseudo sexual acts between close relatives whose marriage would be illegal" and therefore be "detrimental toward the healthy development of youth." Another section of the revised bill would allow the government to directly restrict the sale and renting of the above images if the depicted acts are also "considered to be excessively disrupting of social order" such as rape. Under the name of their president Takashi Atōda, the literary writers in the Japan PEN Club said that the proposed bill would "warp the freedoms of speech and expression" and allow the government to have the authority to enter into areas of people's privacy. The organization had also opposed the earlier version of the bill in March, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly rejected that version in June. Under the name of their president Kazuo Wakatabi, the lawyers of the Tokyo Bar Association noted that the revised bill removes the controversially vague term "nonexistent youth," which was used to define which characters' images should be restricted. However, the association said that the revised bill now uses the vague term "exaggerated" to define the restricted materials, and the association added that manga, anime, and other media are "exaggerated" almost by nature. The association concluded that there is concern that the restrictions would violate the freedom of expression. Yukie Nogami, a second-term DPJ legislator in the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, reported on her Twitter account that her party's general affairs division will meet with Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe) and other manga creators on Monday regarding the revised bill. The division plans to also hear from four publishing associations on that day. DPJ is currently the largest party of the assembly; it opposed the earlier bill. Chiba has expressed his opposition to the revised bill and predicted how it would affect creativity in the manga industry in a November 26 blog entry. Chiba had joined other manga creators in opposing the earlier bill. Translator Dan Kanemitsu noted on Wednesday that the revised bill, just like the earlier version, covers several other areas such as Internet filtering on phones used by minors under the age of 18. The revised bill also calls for the industry to deal with a publisher who release six or more "harmful publications" within a one-year period. If the publisher releases another "harmful publication" within the next six months, Tokyo's governor can identify the publisher in public with supporting documentation .
