  1. Very weak car list. It doesn't add anything in comparison with the first TDU and there's too many of the same cars like a dozen Veyrons, one hundred Audis, a thousand Ferraris. I would be fine with that if they didn't sacrifice other cars like Corvette (the new ones), Lamborghini and Maserati, which were in the first game and could've been added to the list easily. I dare say the car list of the first TDU was better for its time, and with all the DLCs it trounces this lame excuse for a list Atari and Eden came up with.

I was having high hopes for this one, but now it seems I won't even try a demo. I'm very disappointed and underwhelmed.

  2. You got a point about leaderboards etc, alot of people if TDUC was to allow physics modding (Like top speed, acceleration etc) some people may start betting to race noobs who don't know about physics editing.

    Example:

Physics edited Alfa GT VS a Noob Pontiac GTO

Many people (Like myself) don't like it when a little kid has a full tuned saleen S7 and asking you to race for money, Its sorta the same situation if someone was to physics edit cars and bet for money.

I rarely get challenged to duels by people with common sense anyways.

However, with the new patch and Modding Tools (which not everyone has to know about) you can drive a stage 3 Ferrari F40 and an AWD Saleen S7 which IMO fall into the same category as physics-modded cars.

Thing is, when we find a problem we tend to stop right at it instead of finding an ingenious workaround, which leads to banning everything. That's not healthy because with limited possibilities you'll invariably reduce interest in the game. For example, in GRID up to patch 1.2 you were allowed to use eBay cars online and those cars had an advantage over the regular ones. People found a way to edit the game files so that they could have super eBay cars. As a result Codemasters banned eBay cars from online play, without considering the fact they were the ones who included the eBay cars as an original feature of the game in the first place, a feature that rewarded the players who looked for them. And, despite the banning of eBay cars, people can still cheat with trainers and memory editors.

The main problem with banning physics editing is that people have already found a way to do it and it will be available to anyone who search for it. In the end, it penalises fair players who aren't aware of and/or don't know where to find these underground mods. However, I acknowledge that competitive online play may be at a serious risk if everyone has a different database file. This doesn't mean we have to reach a full stop on this matter!!! IMO it would be better if we could reach a middleterm. How we could do it is, however, a different discussion.

  3. That may be so, but this is also a forum that does not accept hacks/ways of cheating online. As you may/may not know, lowering the car drastically increases speed and acceleration. Hence why it was deleted.

Who cares about cheating when the leaderboards are cluttered with cheaters and Atari doesn't give a rat's ass about the game? Sorry for sounding aggressive but that's my take on this.

  4. Dude your such a beatyful example why I if i where a modder, would never give a damn about requests on this forum. Your attitude made me laugth hard.

You talk too much for someone who hasn't delivered anything in a long time... Sorry. :(

If anyone is interested they could always contact Icekid for his Nazca model.

  5. No it really is not, you use NFS carbon models which have 512 by 512 textures and are sorta low poly due to no door lines and less detail, as im using the original TDU model modified into the superlaggera which slightly increased file size then trying to fit in a 1024 by 1024 texture over it all. When file size is already stricted for the actual model originally.

If I was to fit in the vinyl in I would have to get rid of a texture which then you'd have a missing texture as all textures in the .bnk are being already used then TDU then will start reading it wrong and cause problems this isn't a custom model im dealing with where it has only like 4 textures or so. My aim was to keep all bump maps and all textures in tact so it was TDU quality except being the superlaggera

Before you say it... I cannot down size the texture as djeys tools don't allow it slightly, it would make the texture on some peoples computers either stretch or turn into a pixelated colours. It would still need to be the original size. I've already been through the down sizing textures problem and it ain't happening again (GT500KR was a arse to sort out)

You should've picked ProStreet model, way better. But then again the lights are not so detailed.

  6. You don't only need DB_US.bnk, you also need DB.bnk. In fact, you mainly need DB.bnk - that's most likely the corrupted file.

If you don't have a backup of that, you may as well download the patch 1.67D - it contains a new DB.bnk which overwrites your current one, so, after you run the patch, you can back-up your DB.bnk before you attempt to mod the database files again. :)

^that, and be sure to download only the latest version with the important fixes for IK/Camera swapping to prevent further corruption of files.

  7. Yes exactly but not actual 'Mods' that people create. You can't really ask EA for car models to use cause they would say "Go screw yourself" etc. Or they would try and sue your arse.

Thats why with mods a locking protection is always handy.

I think that for many WR2 cars the locking mechanism is a bit redundant because you might as well take the model from somewhere else (like the game they originally came from), it's the same model just with different materials, names, etc. There are many cars in WR2 converted from NFS and TDU which are just straight conversions. In fact I'd not even touch WR2 models because they're not in separate parts and this makes it way harder to convert to other games. A stolen model might end up in the likes of Turbosquid but only people without a clue would fall for the scam. But the password system is still there to protect some other cars which have to be protected (since they're not available anywhere else) like the R8 V10 you converted with TomWin's permission.

More worrying is mod theft within the community IMO. It takes a lot of skill to convert to those new games and seeing some random dumbass claim someone else's work as his is a little bit disgusting. I don't know how to convert cars to TDU but I imagine it's pretty hard with all the features and restrictions.

  8. from the raw theorie its possible to convert from WR2 to TDU.

Lucky there a boucne of walls you migth crash into. The first one is the file opeing protection of costum models. I'm glad that it exsists for wr2. So people can't blindly rip models from wr2 to other games. At last I know all of TomWins realse are fully prtected.

Yet we all rip stuff from all games left, right and center...

  9. I understand their point of view, but TDU came out in 2006. People rarely ever challenge anyone in a race anymore, people just cruise around, and no one competes anymore for anything anymore, sure it can make some cars faster but how often do you see someone challenge you for a race? plus if you do lose, the most money is 10,000 which you could get back in 1 race. Putting an invisible wall in front of us because of your fears was understandable back when TDU was still the hype and it had massive amounts of players, but now days it's different and keeping TDU the same game as it was will just kill it slowly as everyone will get bored of it, tools like these shouldn't be limited, it gives players something to play around with, something new, sort of like adding new cars into the game, honestly you guys should just stop being so anal about "protecting" TDU, all your doing is slowing down or even stopping TDU modding, depriving us users of such mods that might keep TDU alive.

Djey I think you should post your TDU Modding Tools in different forums as the staff here are just limiting everyone because of what they think is right.

    Fully agree with you.

  10. -either patch the EXE file to prevent disconnecting orders and disable MAP control :p

-or create an independent server (permitting TDU to survive in the future) with improved code

Either would be nice since Atari hasn't been supporting this game the way they should for a long time (as seen by the leaderboards) but the second would be better since we would be able to develop our own anti-cheat measures for those who race competitively.

  11. Since 1.66 patch, Atari have set a data checking feature up through their servers. It appears current car characteristics are compared with a clean TDU copy > disconnecting database modders in online.

So don't expect too much about performance editing. It could be really fair.

Cheaters with trainers are less affected... very disappointing once more.

That sucks... Maybe one day it will be possible to add completely new cars with new data, but I'd guess there's still a long way to go.

Actually my only interest in editing original cars would be to improve top speed of German cars which use limiters (because TDU treats them as aero speed limit instead of electronic) and fix broken upgrade stages like Corvette lvl 3.

Performance enhancing mods are not allowed on this forum, only visual modifications. We have allowed the engine damage mod as this does not aid you online or allow for cheating.

    Do they even exist?

  12.

Well Djey that's fantastic! I really appreciate your work since TDU is my favourite racing game for PC. The only missing thing would be performance editing which could be halted because of the cheating but there's so many people with trainers that I don't think Atari would bother with changing speed of cars through editing of game files...

BTW is this an entirely new vehicle with SSR data or an SSR replacement?
