  1. Over 100.000..... will 3.6 million do? :p I have to admit though I never practiced optimizing meshes before, which I need to do. Once I do that, I might be able to get it down to 1.5 million maybe.... I also have a lot of ''junk'' in the file though, which I hide from view, but which dó get counted in the polycount. The car has 3 rimdesigns, which means it has 12 rimpieces (4x 7-spoke, 4x double-6 and 4x 20-spoke), and despite only having 4 rims visible, the polycounter counts all because it doesn't take into account if an object is hidden or not. Either way, it's large, so optimizing has to be done, as soon as I could get an answer on how to properly do that.

  2. Remember it took me ages to get there too :p And don't try to climb mount everest straight away, start with a low hill: so don't start high-poly stuff immediatly, start with low to mid poly stuff. You can also try to work in several files so you can try out stuff. And thanks, good luck with your modeling too ^^.

  3. Thanks a lot mate :D

  4. Thanks for the b-day message :D

  5. Thanks for the message bro, nice vid too. That sound will be missed.

  6. Thanks man, appreciated. I was cleaning the last few piles of old paper stuff from my bedroom and I kept stumbling upon newspapers I saved, describing the unveiling of the 211 in 2002/2003 xD.... Is that a hint?

  7. Thanks man. I will finish it, that's for sure, and it's way over half way now so it won't take very long. I don't know what I'll do with it afterwards. It has too much polies to go in a game, but perhaps I can one day reduce it to something a game can handle, who knows...

  8. Thanks, I found out I just used a wrong order of doing things, that's why it didn't work yesterday. This afternoon, I've been dropping oilslicks in the neighborhood and I've fired fireworks at RC cars :D

  9. That Zenvo looks really good, keep up the good work!

  10. That's pitty it can't drive, I have the same thing with my Merc. I wanted to control it with the Madcar plugin if I'm correct, but I had to delete so much stuff that it wasn't worth it. You'd need a supercomputer to get it to work xD A car of 20.000 or 30.000 polygons should be drivable with that plugin though, I drove a truck of 34.000 polygons on a flat plane with that method.

  11. Unused 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster heading to auction block And apparently owned by a dutch owner o.O I knew of the dark coupe, but I didn't knew this one was also dutch owned....

  12. What the heck..... either because Zetsche is also a turkish man or they finally accept their general prejudice of being a car for turkish people... either way that is just crazy lol.

  13. Yea, MB is already pushing SLS-ish elements for styling on the new CLS, SLK, and SL, so another one shouldn't be a problem ^^

  14. You can make it as difficult as you want. My Merc is difficult in the way that it has much detail, and I often make stuff (both 2D as 3D) from scratch, like the warning decal for the radiator fan, or all the icons of the buttons inside the car that have to light up in dark scenes. If you start with a car I'd first say to do one with a rather simple design, and forget about the interior, you can make interiors later on. Be sure that you look closely how to set up blueprints if you try to model an existing car. Blueprints are known to sometimes not allign correctly with each other. Other than this, well, there are lots of ways to make a car. Boxmodelling, NURBS, polymodelling... Just try some out, search some tutorials, and don't throw it away if it doesn't work. Modelling takes time and eventually you'll have to redo some stuff, but the result will be worth it.
