  1. this problem is not isolated to laptops, as funny enough, i had exact same prob on my desktop gf-9500GT, after working fine for many months, didn't play for a while and it would not load to menu, a simple graphics update got it going again even tho was using same install and version as before. ..perhaps a directX update had stuffed up the old graphic drivers compatability with this game, so maybe some laptops will work after a driver update fisrt from manufacturer site, if that fails then try a generic driver from the graphic chip's site.

  4. @edwin: i checked the .ini files in your mod, you have indeed made my 'dawn' as your 'clear blue sky' it is not actually clear, there are a lot of foggy clouds and the sun is often hidden behind those, low on the horizon. that is why the sun is not visible in your screenshot, even tho it reflects on the ocean. if you watch the whole sequence, the fog changes to greyish clouds also. the file in my mod was in the 'dawn' folder, also if you check it's contents you'll see the times of day are: StaticCfg = "FREERIDEWEATHER_NIGHT_B" "" StaticCfg = "FREERIDEWEATHER_NIGHT_B" "" StaticCfg = "FREERIDEWEATHER_MORNING_B" "" so 'dawn' seemed the most appropriate name for it, no biggie, no need to change it unless you update the mod for other reasons, renaming it 'foggy blue dawn' or something more appropriate would be appreciated. edit: other than changing the names, can you let me know if you modified anything else.
  5. thanks for crediting me [even tho you asked after using it] i don't have time to test your mod yet, but judging from the screenshots/descriptions, here's what i think: 1.Clear blue sky: nothing like my version, and it makes no sense that sun reflects on ocean when the sun is not present, looks more like my 'dawn' version. 2.Partly clouded with sun: looks more like a "clear blue sky" to me, a few white clouds don't mean much... apart from that, your installer looks good, [i made this mod for myself, and decided to share it with others, so did not worry about that side of it]

  10. Very Very Minor Update: v1.1b patch and full version links updated in 1st post. fixed: "SUNSET" and "overcast with SUNrays" timecycle speed slowed down in step 2, all other files are unchanged, update not needed for those who edit times themselves, mainly released for new/future downloaders.

  13. 1 quick question iLLusion: will you be green-erizing the mountains as well? they look to brown ingame, should be more lush like the mountains on TV's LOST [hawaii] & maybe could also use a re-texture.

ETERNAL SKIES MOD, made in 4 days. *****very minor update 15/8/10 to v1.1b - see last post for changes Motivation: to create persistent times of day that are faster cycling [about 15-30min?] and to make the sunsets lighting more colourfull. The following 5 time cycles are included: 1. ETERNAL SUNSET [with orange lighting] 2. ETERNAL BLACK CLOUDS [late arvo - almost night/storm] 3. ETERNAL OVERCAST [with some sun peaking out] 4. ETERNAL DAY [blue sky/white clouds] 5. ETERNAL DAWN [dark blue sky/white sun] To change from one to another you must exit the game and restart. Most of the weather [except for sunset] will be similar to what you have already seen, but with different transitions come different outcomes. Works with HDR on, but I have not fully tested HDR as I don't like the bloom effects in this game - it is over done. :bananahello: -enjoy! -------------------------------------------- note: to quicky preview the cycles you can change timescale from 200 to 2000 for fast [30sec] cycles, or reduce to 50 or 100 for slower cycles.
