Snip
Small update just tried copying the game from my PC where I know its working to the deck and yeah still no traffic
None of the built in compatibility layers work either, most the game just fails to boot.. If there is a way to fix it, it is beyond my knowledge of what you can do with Linux. -

Yeah I tested base game and traffic was all there but as soon as I installed Platinum it was not having it, the only other thing I can think that MAY be causing it is it wasn't a certain version of the built in compatibility layer to make windows games work on Steam OS but yeah no idea what version it would be....assuming thats the issue in the first place which im skeptical of when the one I normally use worked with base game fine.

Nah, keep it that way. Check the traffic folder inside it.
It looks...as expected. Its not installed on my desktop right now (wanted it on deck to have traditional controls and the mouse controls right there on the same device) not 100% though, heres the folders though https://imgur.com/a/cCYP3Be

How is your Traffic folder named? From where did you get Platinum?
Euro -> Bnk -> Vehicles -> Traffic
Got platinum from here.
hmmm I just see that the Vehicles folder is called "Vehicules" Should I fix this? I only ask cause Ive installed TDU Plat on Windows and never had this issue and didn't muck around with any folder naming so unsure if thats intentional or something weird happened.
Think it has to be Vehicules. tried renaming it to the correct spelling but it crashed as soon as I tried to launch it. -
I haven't tried this yet but has anyone gotten TDU plat running on steam deck?
I got it running but I've yet to see a single traffic car so think its borked
Final update, tried everything I can think of and yeah I think its just broken sadly. AI traffic just refuses to spawn. So disappointing. -

Hmmm, sorry then, don't know what the problem is. Only other thing I can think of is if you're using Platinum's Patch HD, try running without it. Regardless of specs, it can cause performance issues. Likely an engine-side problem.
I'm using a laptop with 16gb ram, GTX 1070, and i7-7700 HQ and have not seen these issues. Your PC should have no problem.
Do you mean the HD fx tweak?
Or is there some other HD thing I am misremembering?- Fabeto13 and andrey zyb

That's odd. Double check that you replaced the .exe's in your TDU directory (especially TestDriveUnlimited.exe since that's the one Project Paradise will launch anyways), otherwise it might be a PC spec issue. Just tested it by taking the R32 from the south coast to Beat the Clock, and then did the event (~45 mins of long-distance driving total). I didn't experience the same issue, unless it happens after an even longer period of time.
I did have an issue with the AE86 before 1.04 where it would randomly tank the fps after entering certain dealers, and even could make it crash by viewing the S30 from Japanese Classics if I entered it with the AE86, but haven't had these issues since the 4gb patched .exes were included.
I dont think its a system problem.. at least not specs wise, 4770k 16gb ram RTX 2080ti.
Sometimes I can go for hours with it other times I can seemingly go like 30 minutes. -

Are you using the 4gb executables? Some cars had issues with dropping the FPS before 1.04. The 4gb .exe's from 1.04+ should help with this (In the extras folder of the update files). This issue might be caused by the car you're driving.
Yeah I am, unless I just didnt apply it and maybe the car, for what its worth its the R32 GTR it just seems to kill it.

Does anyone know whatt the deal with the fps just randomly tanking to unplayable FPS outta nowhere?

So for anyone who is like me annoyed with the lack of controller support in the map screen you can try running the TDU Paradise launcher though steam and using steams controller config to make your right stick look like a mouse to the game (may need to tinker with the dead zone) Dunno what you would do for left and tright click mind you but you may be able to work something out.
I'm myself using a steam con with the paddles on the back. Hope this helps someone though.
If you use a steam con when I can I am gonna uplkoad my controller config, just add the launcher to steam and name it "Test Drive Unlimited" and I think it'll pop up. -

There may be a way to make those bindings visible, or edit them externally. I'm still pretty new to TDU modding and haven't a clue about how it stores and saves that info.
The reason is that the X360 version was basically a different game that used (mostly) the same assets. All of the menus where edited or tossed completely on the console versions and most of the controls where hard coded to allow for the limited inputs. Visually they are very similar, but the menus are coded differently on PC.
Really? Im shocked they are so far apart, I recall them driving pretty damn similar (I have played a non modded PC one years ago)

1) Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to bind all map controls to a controller. A few of the needed functions are not in the keybindings menu. Map zoom, setting a GPS marker, and warping are not enabled to a controller by default and are not listed in the Map tab of the keybindings screen. Warping is possible with controller, as you can set the "Confirm" binding for all menus to a controller button. While you can also set Option 1-4 bindings (the auxiliary menu options; blue, yellow, ect) it seems none of them are tied to anything in the map except Option 1, which will toggle the filter screen.
2) From what I can tell, the drift is because the map screen is hyper sensitive to axis input. TDU does have a very small axis deadzone when driving, but it seems that does nto apply to the map screen. So any constant input axis (like a controller) will drift unless you use external software to increase the driver deadzone of the controller. Further, you do not need to bind anything in the Map screen to the mouse. They are hard coded to the mouse and if left [Unbound] they will work normally with a mouse.
Sorry I'm not much help, but hopefully I answered your questions. If I'm wrong about anything here I apologize.
Nah its cool you actually were a help in you made me reaslize I just have to deal with it unless there is a hacky way to go about it.
So infurating since these issues were never on the xb360 version -
Does anyone know how to make the "map" screen work properly with an xb con?
I have 2 issues.
1)I cant warp or set a GPS marker with the controller at all... Ive bound near every control... I dont wanna use the mouse for this.
2) I get drift with the moving the cursor when I bind this to the mouse, the stick is centring, both cons I tried and no other game exhibits the drift. -

This is an amazing mod, But i'm having an issue where the time is not moving, nor the weather. I am stuck on a foggy weather at noon. Pls help
Now that you say that mine is like that too, I couldnt remember if TDU had night cycles...

Does anyone know is there is a way to configure the "GPS Target" and " Go There" options on the map to an xbox controller? It is a royal pain in the butt having to use a mouse for it and I cannot find the controller options for it.

Oh ok figured there would be more to it then that, thanks! I got it working

Yes and it is ok. V0.03A is Project Paradise.
I gotcha, well glad im using the right version.
Is there a guide around to making it work online? -
So is there a way to still play this online with the "mmo" freeroam?
Im also... according to the menu on Version 0.03A is that ok? or should I be on another version? -

Hardcore Mode changes driving style to more simulator one.
To enable it you have to get Champion Level first, then activate it in menu.
This option allows to take part in races against bots with Hardcore Mode turned on (normally you have only free-roam)
Your PC will easily run this, since even o dual-core CPU works like charm
Have you installed latest 1.0.5 patch?
I have Version 1.0.5 of the mod, dunno what my game version is.
-
Ok please forgive the stupid questions. I played TDU on XB back in the day and never the PC one
Whats Hardcore mode change? I never used it on XB360 since it was dlc,
How do I enable it on pc?
I see this "Solo Races (H-Mode) thing in the launcher, what does it do?
As an aside any graphics mods I can/should run on top of this? Im on a high-end pc so nothing is off the table.
Edit - Ive run into an issue where the mouse isnt working to click on things at all... Should I be using the community patch or a specific version of the game? im on an early build I think...

For anyone wondering or who may stumble into this, sadly traffic still doesnt work on the Deck with this update.
Also personally can't say I am a fan of the GT starting race noises. Seems very out of place for this kinda game.
