  1. Yeah, at least. I'd like to make a full customizer... it would be improved release after release.
  2. Hi, as I'm frequently asked on what the next Modding Tools will be about etc., here is a quick&dirty preview of past, present and future features. Of course, some of this info is not guaranteed in any kind, and depends hugely from modders' needs - and my spare time. Here we go : Version 1.10 Release date : july,16th - Celebrating 2 years of TDU Patch 1.66A New wizard : vehicle manager - many bug fixes in DB and BNK management - mod installer - manufacturer, model, version switcher - dealer and V-RENT handler - tuner management : ability to change tuning brand and location - wheel drive changing (FWD / AWD / RWD) File Browser can be set to use a particular folder when replacing files (new setting) Progress bar while running patch New patch instructions and variables TDU Mod And Play! redistributable now complies with new modding rules. More news soon with 2CVSUPERGT Version 1.11 Because of yellow facts, without having got agreement from staff here, this version is not uploaded/linked to TDU:C. Release date : september Vehicle manager follow-ups Data - all available cameras and IK sets added (some are not guaranteed to work, though) Vehicle manager follow-ups - datasheet facts - gearbox type changing > ok, only changes driver animation and switching sound. Semi-auto setting is for fun only and will be removed in later version if no change is noticed. - engine location setting > ok, only changes engine sound source - ride height setting (front/rear) > may change maximum speed and cornering. So there will be value restrictions. - suspension height and rate (front/rear) > testing finished. Looks like to have same impact as ride height. - supercharger type > ok, only enables/disables turbo effect - (max RPM tweaking) > ok, does not change performance - mainly lowers car performance if wrong setting :) - (gearbox ratio / gear count tweaks) > Car behaviour changed but global performance is still the same (maximum speed cannot be changed) - enhancing existing features - ability to also change Camera and IK Names and CarColor Editors are now obsolete and will be removed (use Vehicle Manager instead) See change log : http://tdumodshop.forumactif.net/tools-f13/tdu-modding-tools-modder-edition-t55-60.htm#2068 [...] Version 1.14 Release date : 4th April, 2010 Vehicle manager follow-ups - datasheet facts : speed limiter setting. Putting higher value than default will get you kicked from online (till next attempt) > so setting it lower is only allowed. - no physics change impacting vehicle behaviour (only camera, sound settings...). See change log : http://tdumodshop.forumactif.net/tools-f13/tdu-modding-tools-modder-edition-t55-150.htm#4329 Version 1.15 Bug fixes Vehicle Manager : - new ops in exterior color management (change order / rename / copy-paste) - additional (safe) physics parameters (settings not defined yet) > reported to 1.16. - Advanced camera settings : ability to change cockpit cam positions. Patch Editor improvements - generate it, test it - customize your mod picture - customize installer name - ... New database tool - ability to display database contents - automatic data export to make patching easier > reported to 1.16. - integrity check feature - repair feature Stunning new feature  - TrackPack module - Hint: if you don't know how to use TDU's track editor, I advise you to train now :D Version: 1.16 Release date : 02-06-2011 See changelog @ Test Drive Unlimited: Central - View Single Post - Djey : TDU Modding Tools [1.16] + Extras --- now entering maintenance mode (no more added features) --- Version: 1.16.1 Release date : 10-15-2011 Fixes to DDS<>2DB converter. See changelog @ TDU Modding Tools : n00b edition ! (1.16.1) - Page 11 Current version: 1.16.2 Release date : 07-29-2013 Fixes bug when regional settings (e.g Turkey) would prevent database from being read correctly. Finally! Upcoming version: 1.16.3 Release date : WIP - [General] Remove non-useful log messages 'WARNING Attribute .... was not found " - [General] Fix error reading settings.xml - [ModdingLib] Fixes a bug in reading TDU database resources - [Database editor] Re-enables database check for current topics : Achievements, Menus, Tutorials - [Vehicle Manager Enables all drive-able vehicle slots.
  3. I agree with Tool. Keep in mind that ZModeler import/export is getting no updates, and I'm sure , does not support all features of Eden's 3D engine still. Especially with materials configuration. Designer/converter guys need a good experience of workarounds to solve these issues.

Not before 3-4 weeks anyway. Next version has already improvements, I can't include such subjects at the moment. Moreover, I know how to enable this next features, yet I have to make it easy to use for everyone. And that requires a lot of additional work.
  5. Mazda Miata MX5 ! As more Import convertibles would be fun to drive :) Moreover, game designers planned to do it at first (you can find clues and files for it). Edit : Mazda RX8 would be fun, too.
  6. Did you try to apply the same GPS material ? Strange ... If I had time I would have a look at this. Definitely TDU Modding is hard but full of possibilities. Warning ! Army of modders needed ! :D
  7. +rep for this awaited vehicle. I might buy an Effijy then ;)

No, unlinked = you are allowed to put any vehicle in any dealer without restrictions. It should work with classics too, yet I haven't tested it. And no, 1.10 is 1.10 :cheeky: 2.0 (if any) would be a heavy re-build.

Typically kind of complex operation. But it's possible.. not now, as tools are not ready for that. It'll be easier in the future (probably for TDUMT 1.10). Though I can do it manually, like I did for the G500. Also, you have to know that car brand and dealer can be absolutely unlinked to each other. I can put Saleens in a Jaguar dealer if I like.

Hi, a coder finally ! Nice to meet you :) actually Modding Tools are not able to go further than changing resource strings and names. Dealing with database implies modifying encrypted files, and I can't provide such a dangerous (but powerful) feature at the moment. First step, the next modding tools will be able to modify some car physics data, but just for fixing cameras and positions when swapping cars. To be clear, there's still no way to add a new car at the moment, always replacing an existing one. But you can decide which vehicles to place into dealers over the island. Moreover, there are lots of things to be tested, modding possibilities seem to be huge for now. Also, performance data is stored into encrypted side of database. If you're interested in making tools and have a good experience in C++ or C#, we could go on working with email or PM. It's up to you.
  11. Very impressive ! Will try it later as now it's a bit late :) Anyway, simply thank you.
  12. 2 quick responses in order not to fall into off-topic :) 1. each sound package does only work for a particular RPM range. To get better results with the Mustang GTR, a new BNK should be created, based on TDU's genuine Mustang GTR sound. We don't know much about sound processing and TDU. It appears the ranges, sound volume for example are defined in this weird .xmb file. But it's not an open format, no software is able to open it for now. It should be possible to mod the max RPM range in car physics (decrease limit to 6500 rpm), but car performance will likely to be decreased also... knowing that physics modding is always risky and could make the game disconnect you. 2. enabling turbo effect is more complicated than I thought. It seems to be more than an ON/OFF button in database. I'll give news when I'll check this point out.
  13. I was talking about external HUDs for better realism. Do you know any ?
  14. Miscelleanous fixes for other body swap will arrive soon; I have a few issues to solve in Modding Tools; indeed they are almost ready. Just tried with replacing the Mustang GTR, all is perfect but the sound, like Skepsis said, does not go till so high rpms. Moreover I'm searching for a real HUD, not all-digital... the Mustang GT stock one would fit. Unless someone does a 500KR edition ? :p Very good job to Tool and Skepsis anyway ! +rep for you (when I can)
  15. All I know is the causes are multiple... I'm not expert in modeling, some people will surely be better than me. You should have a look at ZModeler 2 forums. Similar issues have been resolved there. http://forum.zmodeler2.com/viewforum.php?f=15 Good luck :)

Not releasing absolutely does not mean not working. But maybe you'll understand it later...

Yes, it seems to work (experimentally though). I think next 2CVSUPERGT's mods will be the first ones to demonstrate these results.

For now you've just the color schemes from the vehicle you replace. Though, it must be possible to define a custom color set within the database (including specials like chrome). Much more powerful method than swapping colors with current MT. ;)

No, unfortunately. Actually the game only permits 1 "body" per vehicle at the time. We can just add/remove cars from dealers; when adding a car to an empty dealer, it gets visible on the map. But it's possible to replace vehicles we don't use normally (as I did with the SSR) and modify them a bit (brand, wheel drive, gearbox etc...). In my example the SSR has completely disappeared from Chevrolet dealer. It's a Mercedes now. So things can get more accurate :)
  20. I'll replace Ford Mustang GTR too :cheeky: As now, cameras and little details (seatbelts if any) will be fixed by Modding Tools. I think I will release a beta version soon... Concerning rim size, it must be a database bug I'll have to watch later. But now I'm too busy on other subjects.
  21. Oh yeah, just have to save it to disk then rename it to file.bnk you'll replace. For example, if Supra is over Jaguar XKR (default), rename this file to XKR_Cpe.bnk then replace the one in \Euro\Bnk\FrontEnd\HiRes\Gauges Make backup of replaced file !

There are about 15 free car slots in Japan Import Tuner. :D If everyone install the mods according to modder's mind (that's to say, without swapping), I could provide a database update. But it's rather difficult, as plenty of people use body swap (I'm one of these guys  ).

Up after some time, as I think it's the best place to do it. Working recently on new facts about TDU Modding, here is potential advancements for the future. That's still in alpha work and need tools to be used easily and safely.
  24. I've already worked on ZM2 so I know what I'm talking about. Seatbelt bugs when swapping with Pontiac GTO have been fixed by new swap (IK-Swap). Same thing appeared with current 2CVSUPERGT's conversion, when he tried to put the car over an other slot (Alfa GT to Lexus SC430) : seatbelts where hung in the air like antennas, driver had his hands beneath the wheel. If you fix the dummies for a particular vehicle, that does not ensure positions will be OK for any other. Everyone knows that now. In fact, in addition of dummies, TDU uses an offset system to align some objects... and this is vehicle-related. You should be happy, thus you won't have any more complains when people will body swap your conversions :) --- Edit: Little names update attached (TduNames_r18-2.zip) with Chevrolet SSR support. This is the 'basical' renaming method, still.
  25. Thanks to 2CVSUPERGT another kind of swap is possible, solving: - seatbelt anchor points - driver seat position (as you can notice seats are moving automatically as soon as driver enters into it). Now driver will always have his hands on the wheels (and not a few centimeters away) - and more, certainly. This swap appears to be safe online (like camera swap), and will be available in next Modding Tools. Concerning ride height, we're not sure it's in database... Finally, wheel size is all about rim dimensions. They can be modified, but we need more tests to ensure the process is safe. Thx for feedback. If something goes wrong with it, don't hesitate to post also :)
