  1. Took a few pictures today, nothing special, just because :D It is a dirty dirty car at the moment and in desperate need of a waxing. It litterally feels like a sandpaper when you touch the paint :( I feel so terrible about it, but i'll get around to fixing it maybe next weekend hopefully and i'll put on the summer tires then aswell! Finally! :)

I also noticed the summer tires in the shed so i decided it was time to weigh them cause i haven't gotten around to that yet :D So The Sortilége's with somewhat worn tires were: 23.0 Kg. I actually thought they would be heavier. The winter tires on the 18" Terrific rims where as i wrote earlier 22.3 Kg.

  2. Had it dynoed at 163.2rwhp, which is about spot on to where a stock NA Supra should be. Set myself a goal of about 210rwhp

Seems to be quite a bit of power loss in there tho. I've seen dynoed GT86'es that has had similar 160 bhp marks too i think, and they are only 200 bhp to begin with.

  3. Huh? Do you know like, at all what you are talking about? What does a clutch have to do with anything? As long as it's not slipping it's doing it's job correctly.

Bigger cars/vans like the Sprinter has heavier clutches because they need to be a bit tougher than on normal cars, hence a little bit heavier, but not necessarily. If that Sprinter had a petrol engine the clutch would be just as heavy. It all depends on how it's designed. It's something you live with and accept when driving a manual.

  4. It might be the best all round 'product' but it certainly isn't the best choice, it's so GODDAMN BORINGGGGGGGGGGG. I'd literally rather paint my house and watch it dry than own a 2.0 TDI golf. They're perfect company cars or cars for people who don't care much and just want a transportation system. I'm not saying they're not class leaders for engineering but god damn its boring and soul-less. I also don't think it has any presence at all, nevermind 'a lot of presence' like you stated. But I guess that does come down to different countries/cities etc, where some cars might stand out more in one place they'll go by unnoticed in the next.

Might I add, I've never seen the huge attraction and buzz over the above vehicle, if someone gifted me one I'd sell it immediately.

WORD! Would never want one in any shape or form.

  5. It's not that straight forward, and I think you can only tell what you'll do when it's your turn to do it.

We could have afforded the M5 rather than the M550d, but a car's payment is something that we're agreeing to, and that's something we can control and are prepared to do. However fuel prices are insane, specially petrol. And each time you fill up the tank, even with the diesel, since we can't go under 11.0L/100km, It's a big ammount of money we're spending, and we have to fill up the tank every week, and it's not driven too much. Each month we spend around 250€ in fuel. That's 3000 per year. Then you also have the insurance which is not cheap.

The M5 would turn out much more expensive on the run, expecting around 320-350€ of fuel per month. With 300 per month you can buy a small car lol.

When you buy a car you can't just account what you're paying when you get the keys.

Also due to the price cathegory of our car we pay an extra 20% of fuel price, so on top of the 3000€ of fuel per year we pay another 20% of that.

And for which reason would we get the M5 instead? None, we don't race, we don't track the cars. My father only stretches it when the roads are empty at night or in highway driving, most of the days he's under 50-60km/h. I already think that our car is to powerful for what we can do on our roads.

We've already been in situations in which we think, I'd do this and that if I were going to do X instead of doing what someone did, but when it's your

turn to decide on the very same thing you'll think it over better^^

Just saying, things are not that straight forward xD

So why do you have a 550d at all? :P Why not a 528d or 520d? You could cut the monthly costs in half with that.

    --- Post Updated ---

Anyway someone mentioned diesel sports cars?

  6. I was at a BMW Tour thing today where they let you testdrive various BMW cars.

The most awesome one there that i tried was the BMW X550d with X-Drive and Steptronic auto gearbox. Dear god in heaven that car moved! It was so quick! It was just like, "i'm just gonna drop a few gears and try a little" and immediately you were at 100 mph :D

Might not be a "sports car" as such since it's a big SUV. But it was fast like one. :D

  7. Even with MOT's there's a high chance of them being on the road.

As they say, "An MoT is only valid on the day you got it". I personally know of people running cars well over the limit for noise & emissions because come MoT day they slapped the original exhaust back on , then after they put there other one back on. Nothing bad but you see where I'm coming from.

People do that with entire engines here. Put the original motor in for MOT and then when they pass and get back home they simply lift the 800 BHP engine back in the car :)

  8. Just curious about cars in EU. Do all cars in the EU have to pass an MOT? And is it the same test whether you do it in the UK, France, or Italy?

And also window tint. I notice that SUVs and wagons sold in the US have tinted windows from the factory, save for the windshield and front two windows. In Europe, usually the same SUVs/wagons do not have tinted windows. Are the tint laws stricter there?

In Finland: New cars get a free MOT pass for the first 3 years. Thereafter it's once every year.

I don't think they would fail a car MOT just because of tinted windows, as long as it's only the back windows. Front and front-side windows are not allowed tinting at all. They even complained to my brother for having a small tinted stripe at the top of the windshield (homemade, but professionally done, for protection against the sun) tho they didn't fail him, just a "warning" to get it removed.

  9. Got a few more pictures lying around so i'll post them!

Just put on the winter tires in this pic. Was like a month ago tho

  10. A little update on this car:

As you might know i sold this car in January to make way for the RCZ i have now. But the guy who bought it has it for sale again now :) It looks exactly the same still exept for the brake calipers that are painted blue like the car :)

  11. Suppose I should upload a pic of my actual interior then, haven't got a very good or recent one though, but here.

I've got some new heater control buttons that should be here soon (no more 'yellow' buttons :msuh3:) plus I have my TRD speedo to put in, so when I pull the dash apart to do those I'll be able to have a look at what's causing that little bump in the dash just above and to the left of the speedo. Hopefully it's not warped and has just had the dash out before to replace a light bulb or something and not been put back properly. If it is warped then bugger it it can stay that way lol

Man i want a Supra :( But there are no LHD versions of them around here! -.-
