the banner contest #68: Soundwave wins it with DRIVECLUB

the banner contest #68

A little backstory:

For a long part of our history we have had a banner image proudly displaying up top on our community forum, and for much of the time that banner has been on whichever style and look we were currently sporting, a member's image has been on it. Nowadays we call this 'the banner contest' (tbc) and it's brilliant to see that it is as popular as ever!

The contest invites our members to enter a screenshot of theirs following the manner of the desired theme which is usually set by the previous winner (however circumstances may result in it being chosen by staff or made a complete free-for-all in certain situations) and then from all of those, the community votes on which they feel is the best. At the end of the poll voting period the image(s) with the most votes, WINS! And the prize for winning, is getting their image displaying across our community forum banner and social channels should the image be large enough.

Over this time many games have adorned the space from the early days with Test Drive Unlimited, Forza Motorsport 2 and Midnight Club Los Angeles to the more recent offerings of Forza Horizon 2, Need for Speed Rivals and now it's the turn of DRIVECLUB. With the current-gen of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 it is even easier now for console muppets to compete with the PC lot and contribute top quality and truly incredible images that are always a pleasure to view.

Congratulations Soundwave!

We have just completed the latest in our infamous (among some) 'the banner contest' (tbc) and through all the great entries received there was an out-and-out winner of tbc #68 and that was Soundwave and his impressive looking DRIVECLUB shot. It's not surprising to see that a game with some of the best visuals would take the win, but it's not only about looks with this contest as many games can produce incredible and clean screenshots and so making your shot stick out and be noticed apart from the rest is needed. And Soundy's image does exactly that, due to the stance of the car giving off a mighty aggressive look which is accentuated by the very wet road it's parked upon.

'the banner contest' #68 winner: Soundwave

Personally I am very fond of the sunlight coming in from the left of the shot that is then spread out over the rest of the scenery giving the image it's even greater photo-realistic look.

In second place was Andreas (or Mr Anderson as I call him) with his great shot from The Crew, showing himself and another jumping long and far in the desert with the sun setting in the distance. Taking the final position was hassan1995 with a night-time capture of his custom Hot Rod in the latest Need for Speed. Of particular like in this shot is the city lit up in the background and the coloured tint in the sky indicating that the sun is close to rising.

Not wanting to pile the misery on our team blue member Camel, but we feel it is only right to tell how he never got a SINGLE vote for his image. As funny as this is, it seems way harsh and we think this only happened because he usually spanks everyone in our Forza 6 Track Attack League challenges.

A big well done to them and to everyone else who entered and thanks for making the reboot of our banner contest a great success!
