  1. The January issue of Gakken's Megami Magazine is announcing on Tuesday that its readers can submit designs for the panties of Asuka and the other characters in the Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai television anime series. The magazine has just revealed that NAVEL's Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai—under the innocent sky visual novel software will spawn a television anime next April. The winning entries will be used in the actual anime, and the designers will be listed as part of the staff in ending credits. The winners will also receive prizes. The original software follows the lives of young people in the big city of Yanagihara, and it features scenario writer "Ō Jackson" (Shuffle! contributor), character designer Aoi Nishimata (Final Approach, Lovedol ~Lovely Idol~, Shuffle!), and musical composer Acchorike (Shuffle!). Shinji Ushiro (Blessing of the Campanella, Omamori Himari, Strait Jacket) is directing the anime at the studio Nomad. 2. The wraparound jacket band on the third volume of Rino Mizuho's The Magic of Chocolate (Shokora no Mahō) shōjo horror manga series is announcing this month that an anime adaptation has been green-lit. More details will be provided in Shogakukan's Ciao magazine. The "bittersweet, mysterious story" revolves around Chocolat Aikawa, a chocolatière who runs a shop called Chocolat Noir. She can grant wishes to the troubled people who visit her shop — if they give her something precious in exchange. Mizuho has been drawing the manga in Ciao and Ciao DX on an irregular schedule, and the first compiled volume shipped in July of 2009. The second volume, The Magic of Chocolate ~bittersweet~, shipped this past March, and the third volume, The Magic of Chocolate ~creamy sugar~, is shipping this month. 3. Washimiya, the Kuki City neighborhood that is home to the "Lucky Star shrine," hosted its first otaku matchmaking event on Sunday. According to the organizers of the "Ota-Konkatsu Washimiya Deai-Hen ~San-jigen no Kimi ni Todoke~" (Otaku Matchmaking: Washimiya Dating ~Reaching You in 3D~) event, seven couples were formed out of the 20 male and 20 female participants. A representative of the local chamber of commerce and industry's youth division acknowledged the high 35% success rate and added that the organizers want to run the event again — then mused aloud about how many times they can run the event in a year. The event began at 2:00 p.m. with the male and female participants going into separate rooms. The members of each room then introduced themselves to the other room via microphones and speakers. An hour later, the two sides met face-to-face and discussed various things such as their favorite characters. Everyone joined together to make soba noodles by hand before dining. At 7:00 p.m., each participant could choose up two candidates for their ideal mate and write those candidates' numbers down. (Each participant had the option of listing no candidates.) If two participants chose each other, they were declared a couple and received presents. The Mainichi Shimbun newspaper's Mantan Web site reports that many of those who did not "win" ended up asking each other out to go drinking. Washimiya is the home of Washinomiya Shrine, which was used as the basis for a location in Kyoto Animation's 2007 television adaptation of Kagami Yoshimizu's manga Lucky Star. It has since become a popular destination for anime fans, who make "pilgrimages" to the shrine. The concept for the dating event originated in 2009, when many visiting fans who filled out surveys said that they were interested in marriage. 386 males applied for 20 spots — or 19.3 applicants for every spot. 115 females applied for 20 spots, or 5.75 applicants for every spot. 42 people actually received the invitation emails, although only 40 actually took part in the event since two did not show up. The male entrants had to be between the ages of 18 and 40, be otaku, and pay 8,000 yen (about US$100). The female entrants had to be between the ages of 18 and 40 "be tolerant of otaku or better yet, be otaku or be sympathetic to otaku"; and pay 1,000 yen (about US$12). 4. Manga creators Osamu Akimoto (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo), Fujiko Fujio A (Doraemon, Kaibutsu-kun), Leiji Matsumoto (Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999), Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe), Souichi Moto (Dakkan, Megumi), and Juzo Yamasaki (Mukoujou, Tsuri Baka Nisshi) are holding a press conference to voice their opposition to the new proposed amendment to Tokyo's Youth Healthy Development Ordinance on Monday. The Nico Nico Douga website began streaming the press conference shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday in Japan (2:30 a.m. EST). Nico Nico Douga will also stream a separate special program about the bill at 9:00 p.m. in Japan (7:00 a.m. EST). Media journalist Daisuke Tsuda will host a panel with manga creator Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina, Negima! Magister Negi Magi), scholars and critics Hiroki Azuma (Fractale) and Kaoru Nagayama, self-described "otaku lawyer" and manga creators' rights advocate Takashi Yamaguchi, and members of the Japan Magazine Publishers Association. 6. The official website for Kodansha's Morning seinen magazine and its manga titles announced on Thursday that the web team plans to open an English version in the near future. The announcement came as part of a revamp (pictured at right) of the entire site. The English version will be the first step in Kodansha's plans to make the site available in multiple languages, and it aims to have simultaneous releases worldwide. The site revamp launched a number of new series and an application for the Apple iPhone and Android smartphones, and it also introduced a new official mascot character, a bear called "Morninguma." 7. The Japan PEN Club and the Tokyo Bar Association both announced on Thursday that they opposed the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's new attempt to amend the Youth Healthy Development Ordinance. In addition, the general affairs division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly's Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) is meeting with manga creators on Monday on the matter. The current ordinance already prevents the sale and renting of "harmful publications" — materials that are "sexually stimulating, encourages cruelty, and/or may compel suicide or criminal behavior." The proposed Bill 156 would require the industry to also self-regulate the sale and renting of "manga, anime, and other images (except for real-life photography)" that "unjustifiably glorify or exaggerate" certain sexual or pseudo sexual acts. The revised bill will specifically target depictions of "sexual or pseudo sexual acts that would be illegal in real life, or sexual or pseudo sexual acts between close relatives whose marriage would be illegal" and therefore be "detrimental toward the healthy development of youth." Another section of the revised bill would allow the government to directly restrict the sale and renting of the above images if the depicted acts are also "considered to be excessively disrupting of social order" such as rape. Under the name of their president Takashi Atōda, the literary writers in the Japan PEN Club said that the proposed bill would "warp the freedoms of speech and expression" and allow the government to have the authority to enter into areas of people's privacy. The organization had also opposed the earlier version of the bill in March, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly rejected that version in June. Under the name of their president Kazuo Wakatabi, the lawyers of the Tokyo Bar Association noted that the revised bill removes the controversially vague term "nonexistent youth," which was used to define which characters' images should be restricted. However, the association said that the revised bill now uses the vague term "exaggerated" to define the restricted materials, and the association added that manga, anime, and other media are "exaggerated" almost by nature. The association concluded that there is concern that the restrictions would violate the freedom of expression. Yukie Nogami, a second-term DPJ legislator in the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, reported on her Twitter account that her party's general affairs division will meet with Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe) and other manga creators on Monday regarding the revised bill. The division plans to also hear from four publishing associations on that day. DPJ is currently the largest party of the assembly; it opposed the earlier bill. Chiba has expressed his opposition to the revised bill and predicted how it would affect creativity in the manga industry in a November 26 blog entry. Chiba had joined other manga creators in opposing the earlier bill. Translator Dan Kanemitsu noted on Wednesday that the revised bill, just like the earlier version, covers several other areas such as Internet filtering on phones used by minors under the age of 18. The revised bill also calls for the industry to deal with a publisher who release six or more "harmful publications" within a one-year period. If the publisher releases another "harmful publication" within the next six months, Tokyo's governor can identify the publisher in public with supporting documentation . The anime features a casino dealer named Rio Rollins (Marina Inoue) who has starred in several pachi-slo (pachinko parlor-style slot machine) games from Net and Temco. She competes for the greatest honor among dealers — "Most Valuable Casino Dealer" (MVCD) — by collecting 13 legendary cards known as "Gates." "The Goddess of Winning" first appeared in 2003 in the Super Black Jack game franchise from the pachi-slo company Net, thanks to Net's collaboration with Tecmo (Dead or Alive) to create female characters. Rio's popularity led to several more games, including 2005's Rio Carnival, 2007's Rio Paradise, and 2009's Rio 2 -Cruising Vanadis-. [img width=160 height=160]http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk241/Eudemon_Randy/c10b00038l2.jpg The pre-orders end on December 17, and each customer is limited to 10 pairs of each style and size. 15. Take 2 :pf: and I'll call you in the afternoon. :D

  16. There's nothing to stop those people ordering from the UK though. Also I get what people are saying but one thing to remember, as much as you want Atari/NBP to say 'yes the pre-order exclusives will/may become available after the release of the game', they can't as they are bound to the agreement they have made with all those retailers. The point of these bonuses is to make people buy from that shop over another, if Atari were to say the above then people would just buy from wherever making these "retailer pre-order exclusives" seem less attractive. So basically never say never but no-one can say 'yes' this early. Note: Again I know nothing, so don't take this as a yes they will come post release.
  17. I got the full hires selection, I will upload them after resizing them later though.
  18. Manga creator Ken Akamatsu (Negima! Magister Negi Magi, Love Hina) revealed in a Livedoor interview posted on Thursday that he want his J-Comi manga website to legally distribute dōjinshi (self-published works) that parody other works. Akamatsu announced last week that his website is posting out-of-print manga for free with advertising support, and the site has just launched its beta test. Akamatsu said that manga parody dōjinshi are basically unauthorized now, but added that they would be legal if the creators of the parodied original works gave their permission. (Unlike in the United States, the current Japanese Copyright Law does not have a fair-use clause to allow parodies and similar derivative works without requiring permission. The sales of dōjinshi at Comic Market and similar conventions are essentially unauthorized, even though the restrictions on derivative materials are largely ignored and unenforced at these conventions.) Akamatsu suggests putting advertising in dōjinshi and splitting the advertising revenues between the original creators and the dōjinshi creators. Akamatsu added that he believes that "Japanese dōjinshi are a important part of our cultural heritage." He noted that dōjinshi that are often scanned and released widely online within hours of Comic Market. Since parody dōjinshi themselves infringe on copyrights (under current Japanese laws), dōjinshi creators have little recourse when their works are uploaded online without authorization. However, Akamatsu said that if the original creators gave their permission, then the dōjinshi creators can also claim copyrights on their works. J-Comi's Beta Test & Love Hina As Akamatsu announced on the official J-Comi blog on Monday, the website's beta test period launched at noon on Friday (10:00 p.m. on Thursday EST). Even though his Love Hina manga is still in print, Akamatsu is posting all 14 volumes for free for one month to test the viability of the business model. Each Japanese-language volume has six pages of advertising and no digital rights management (DRM). Akamatsu suggests that personal computer and Apple iPad users download the high-resolution PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format) version of the manga, while Apple iPhone and Android smartphone users can read the low-resolution version due to faster downloads. There are also embedded comic viewers in the website for users of personal computer and Japanese mobile phones who do not wish to download. Amazon Kindle users must first download the PDF files on a personal computer and transfer them over USB.
