  1. Simple: AA+HDR At the time no other cards were capable of doing that (geforce 8800 hadn't been announced yet), also the 1950xt was great performance for the money (especially in Oblivion), and I can also use it for modelling simulations (like folding) - something you still can't do on other cards.
  2. Warning - naked computer pictures below! Okay, I couldn't resist a cheap pair of RAM sticks the other day and finally got a chance to bung them in. The geek in me wouldn't forgive me if I didn't take some pictures of the current state of the computer :p Yes, I know, it looks a mess, but it's actually deliberate to keep the airflow in the key areas perfect ;) -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) --
  3. Those three are all fantastic and there's no significant difference between them. Go for whichever has the nicest price/cooler/warranty/bundle/scantily-clad-buxom-woman on the box.
  4. Ok.. first off, you'll be able to run dual channel with either setup, so that's not an issue. (Dual channel just needs an even number of sticks). Both options have their advantages - going 2x2 gives you room to update the ram later (assuming you are running a 64bit OS), but 4x1 will be cheaper and correspondingly for the same amount of money you'll be able to get faster ram. The cheapest option would be to go with 4x1, then when you run out of ram (!) just sell two of them and get 2x2 which will then be cheap, giving you 6gb and staving off an upgrade for a while. By the time 6gb isn't enough you will be changing the rest of your system anyway. So, that'd be my first choice if I was buying today. If 2x2 didn't cost too much more then I'd consider it just because it would use less power than 4x1, but the difference isn't huge, whereas the premium for 2gb sticks wasn't insignificant last time I checked. Infact, do you actually need 4gb ram now? Cheapest still would be buy 2x1 and then plug in 2x2 later when the price comes down.

Ah but Benson is an official forum mod so Diablo already knows him.
  6. Hehe yeah, we have a 15 rating, which tends to be used for nudity/sex and mild violence (for films, there's no mandatory rating for video games for those things), but stronger violence or interactive violence tends to get a straight 18 (and a mandatory rating). The law is hopefully going to change to fully match the film industry, so all things that affect a films rating will affect a games rating too.
  7. The BBFC rating could be 18, as you know we don't have a 16+ rating. The 16+ could be the PEGI rating.
  8. It shouldn't be hard to find one that's done one metre ;)
  9. Got most of them and they're nothing like it :p
  10. It's safely tucked away in my documents, sorry :p
  11. *examines the tducvb cookie* Hmm expires 07/02/2009, should be fine then :) *tucks it away in the cookie folder* Thanks again for the welcomes guys :)
  12. Thanks for the welcome. I would have a signature but I've already turned them off so there's no point :p
  13. Nah, I've enough on my plate without having to deal with you lot :jk: Why would I edit my own posts? ;)
  14. Hello, I'm me, and my secret is..[removed]
  15. There wasn't such a thing, so we can just make those up :p
  16. Not really 'hell no', but depends on the game. Photo-mode only partially serves the purpose of making cool wallpapers for yourself, instead its main purpose is to share content with other players. This form of social sharing is becoming a big part of games and just as photo-mode is replacing screenshots I think video creation and other forums of sharing personally created content within a game is going to become more prevalent. Imagine doing a run then being able to replay it, adjusting cameras/lighting. Cutting together scenes, adding (custom) music and commentry, before having a highly polished result rendered in a format that plugs straight into online media sharing sites.
  17. Hehe no I know what you mean exactly, but that's almost why I have a collection of games, so that I can just pick up and play one for a short space of time when I'm bored of something else. RPGs have been the only games that I can play for hours every day, for months and months. This year I'm looking forward to Fallout 3 and Dragon Age most of all. In the future I'm looking forward to Spore, Starcraft II, and Homeworld 3. That's all I'm aware of that's probably in progress that'll I'll get as soon as they come out. Might see if I can get myself hooked on Eve online as well :p
  18. What, no Need For Speed games in that list? :chairfall: rambomc, your bottom sig picture is triggering my company's internet blocker!
  19. Hehe thanks :) Yup the biscuits did the trick.. that and registration finally worked (I think I tried to join about a year ago as well :oook: ) Yeah there are lots of great sims on the PC - what was nice about GT was that it wasn't very hardcore sim like - rather it was easily enjoyable on just a gamepad :)
  20. For right or wrong, the few times I've had a go on Gran Tourismo games on the PS2 I've had a whale of a time. Is there anything remotely close to them on the PC? TDU seems the closest so far, which I also love, but anything else?
