  1. Yup :( Unless it's a retail version of windows, but being a Dell, that's very unlikely. Sure. But you can't play TDU on ubuntu unfortunately (well, there might be a wine hack that might help, can't remember the name of the directX layer project that you need as well). Without OS it's certainly possible :)
  2. The danger isn't just that it's a few days late, the problem with these strikes is that they generate an enormous backlog, so it can be weeks before the post gets through.
  3. You'd still need a new license for Windows - it's tied to the motherboard.
  4. You will need a new case, PSU, motherboard, graphics card, RAM, CPU and operating system (dell use OEM ones tied to the motherboard). Most people consider this a new computer. If you want to think of it as just an upgrade then that's cool - the computer doesn't mind what you call it either way (unless you call it Mac, they tend to take offense at that). :) To get all of that under £200 is impossible with a new build (the operating system alone is about £60-70), but you should be able to get a second hand computer that can play TDU fine for that price.
  5. What kind of driving do you prefer? If you like arcade-like skidding around over dirt tracks etc. then Dirt is the one for you. If you like more sim-like driving around racing tracks then Shift is the one for you.
  6. Is this where you dress up as a pirate in the shortest time possible? ;)
  7. There are no screenshots in my game folder :( -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) --
  8. So has anyone tried this? I know Diablo's going to be too engrossed to post, but anyone else? :p
  9. There are a few bugs, but nothing major and stability-wise the game is solid. My main gripe is that a lot of things seem cut down compared to other games like the multiplayer options, as if they had to lock down the game. But I'm pretty sure they'll improve some of these things over time - the first patch already added in mouse control and LAN mutliplayer.
  10. If it was a situation where you could only ever buy one of them, then I'd wait for Forza 3. But if you will be able to buy Forza 3 as well, at a later date, then I'd get Shift now and enjoy it.
  11. Yes, at low speeds they are quite similar. At higher speeds though the Shift driving model is much better - it handles downforce and sprung weight transfer much more accurately and it's far more driveable as a result. I've never had this bouncing thing that some others have, so I'm not sure if it's a particular setup issue or even a computer speed problem - I've tried all the cars that supposedly have the problem and they've been fine for me.
  12. It's a good game. Handling feels like GTR with some controls that step in and prevent it from getting out of hand.. so not as nice as GTR:Evo but a significant improvement on previous NFS games and others like Grid. The main problem is lack of decent controller setups - and not that many options to adjust yourself. Once you do get a good setup though it's perfectly possible to drive the cars without sliding them which is more rewarding (and faster). You can't simply boost power without consequences either - downforce and tyres need to be upgraded or it's very easy to slide again, and they've added slipping clutches so there's a need to upgrade the drivetrain as well. Multiplayer is both the game's biggest strength and it's weakness - underneath it's a really sound game, but there's very little choice in how you join games - it randomly chooses a lobby to send you to, which is frustrating. As is the enforced start of the match 2 minutes after the second person joins the lobby. There are some bugs, of course, like car setups disappearing or worse, setting themselves completely wrongly, but the game is very stable. AI acts like the majority of players you meet online, which is to say, very rudely. Can be frustrating when you're trying to race cleanly but other players or the AI want to play bumper cars. Best recommendation is to get some friends who you know race cleanly, then try and get together with them for races.. but with the multiplayer setup that's easier said than done! Graphically it gives a wonderful sense of speed with all the track objects hurtling past you and the blurring effects, but some aspects aren't as pretty as Grid.. that said you won't be taking the time to notice in a close race, or even just some of the faster cars as they demand a lot of concentration!
  13. Please.. just.. turn.. in.. ! -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- Sorry for lack of supercar pics - I've been having too much fun driving to take screenshots (and unfortunately print screen doesn't work in windows 7 so I have to do the replay/snapshot/upload/login to NFS website/download thing just to save them :( )
  14. 1) I don't think you need to upgrade your CPU. GTA IV lags on PC because it's poorly optimized. If your world revolves around GTA IV then okay, worth considering upgrading (or better, just buy it on console), but don't use it as a measure for how other games will perform. NFS:Shift on the other hand will run fine on your current CPU and graphics card. 2) If you did need to upgrade then I'd consider a Phenom II chip - not Phenom (I). Phenom IIs are actually quite good chips for the money. You can use an AM2 or AM3 processor in your motherboard, but check before using the highest powered ones like the 125W designated ones. 3) If you did need to upgrade mk 2 then I'd consider a graphics card update rather than a CPU update, and then you might need a new PSU. 4) Read point 1 again - it's the most important one :p
  15. Surely the fact that Eden ported NFS:PU to the playstation only tells you that they're good at porting games to the playstation?
  16. You can download it at 1 minute past midnight on the 18th I think, so it'll arrive pretty quickly :)
  17. oops sorry, forgot you need a code: HotUKDeals_10GBPOff
  18. Just £20 pre-order at the EA store ;) (use 'HotUKDeals_10GBPOff')
  19. It's £20 from the EA store too, with 'exclusive' porsche. My GF is looking forward to getting it and creating some pink cars with silly wheels.
  20. Isn't that also a really tiny car? It's possibly an age thing, but unless you're having a mid-life crisis there does come a stage when you start wanting something that's a bit more comfy and luxurious :p (PS I think skoda's are well built too - in some ways better for UK roads than VW badged cars, because VWs are designed for smooth german roads, while UK roads are more like Czech ones :p)
  21. Deamon Tools installs Ring0 drivers (bit like a rootkit) so it can be very hard to get rid of effectively short of a format. But first try cleaning out any remains of your TDU install and re-installing it again.
  22. How much does it cost to run and insure the corvette, and can I fit my family, the dog and lots of luggage in it?
  23. *explodes with confusion* If I were to make a suggestion, I'd recommend scrapping negative reps. Keep reps neutral (good opportunity for friendly and constructive feedback) and positive only.
  24. Then someone is breaking the rules. There's no comment.
  25. I seem to have negative rep, but I've no idea what for as there is no comment or name left.. is that normal?
