Car Spotting: What You Saw Recently!
madpioneer replied to The Queen's topic in Automotive Discussion
A dinner trip for soup & salad @Luby's last night found a local dealer's yellow Lambo SV in the parking lot. Unfortunately I did not have my camera so a web shot will have to do. But it was exactly as pictured, with the newer much larger SV decal as opposed to the smaller decal of the earlier models. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/madpioneer/Lamborghini_Murcielago_LP670-4_SV_12.jpg -

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit by Criterion
madpioneer replied to Rai06's topic in Driving & Racing Games
A friend of mine who also helps me out with PC problems got me into PC gaming just a few years ago . After upgrading an older single core PC with EVGA graphics card, 24" LCD monitor, Logitech G25 & Wing Man flight stick etc... I saw the trend soon after how gaming is shifting in favor of consoles. In 2009 I got an Elite 360 & after getting a 1080p plasma this year I got a first release 'fat' PS3 also to cover the bases. Since my PC is slightly underpowered (processor wise) I have gravitated more on the console side myself. Although I really enjoy the PC side of things, graphics, modding etc... I see the problems that come with it too! Being left in the cold with DLC packages, and compatibility problems just to name a few. I purposely pre-ordered Hot Pursuit for Xbox having a gut feeling the PC version was going to have problems & get screwed too at the same time. And it did! Car packs, engine sounds, steering wheel support, invisible rain etc... I also have TDU2 pre-ordered with the same feelings. It's really sad to see the trend going this way as PC gamers are what started this revolution in gaming to begin with. And now they are left behind with little or no support. Sorry if you are a diehard PC gamer, but it was bound to happen. The companies are naturally going to go where the big money is. Although I don't agree with the movement & the trends, I am a gamer at heart & to continue to game I have had to adapt as well. I had a feeling they might release the roadster pack for free regardless if the video made the million view mark. -

Well so far they have released the 'Rebel Pack' of cars for a $ price of course. The Dr. Pepper cars (Xbox 360 anyway). Not to mention the 3 roadsters (Bentley, Lambo, Viper) 'free' if their game launch video views hit one miillion by Dec. 12? Now they are planning a 'Super Sports Pack' which is going to include not only more cars but more events... Criterion Games will soon deliver some new rides and some new ways to pit those rides against the fuzz in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit by way of the newly announced Super Sports Pack. The DLC includes the following six cars: • Bugatti Veyron SS • Bugatti Veyron SS Interceptor • Porsche 911 GT2 • Porsche 911 GT2 Interceptor • Gumpert Apollo • Gumpert Apollo Interceptor Read more: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Super Sports Pack DLC Announced - G4tv.com 'Super Sports Pack Video': Nice to see it's being supported like I hoped it would. Some are already bored & disappointed with the game. I hope to see more in the near future not unlike the many DLC's offered for Paradise. The game has so much more potential for DL content, but how long will they stay interested to release more? -
I liked the first one as well even though it was geared more toward a sim style. I have always said to all my gamer contacts since it's release, that it could of stood on it's own right being released as simply 'SHIFT' without the NFS title it would have been fine. Saw this video today as well, I'll be watching an will probably get it sometime on or after it's release.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit by Criterion
madpioneer replied to Rai06's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Cons: Too bad they couldn't have coached the english speaking female doing the car descripts and some police calls. Her pronunciation of 'Le Mans' is atrocious along with 'Pagani' during a police call not too mention other words in car descripts. Hope the French, German speaking community have better luck with the language in their games! I think they missed the tunnel ambiance with the volume dropping, they got the sound spread nicely but the volume dip is too bad. The car engine sounds could have been more aggressive more like Forza 3 (nit picking here!) but I digress I am overall ecstatic about this game very well done for an arcade racer IMHO. -

Forgot to mention the tarmac detail cracks, road patches, tire marks, etc.. Some may love a perfect looking new road, I prefer weathered. Some of the best reflective wet road effects I have seen in a game yet. Birds flying around. Oil platform right off the coast lighted at night not to mention the ships nearby. The demo only exposed a touch of what we were in store for. -
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit by Criterion
madpioneer replied to Rai06's topic in Driving & Racing Games
The game is amazing, addictive, stupid fun in all it's arcade glory! Played for over 9 hours yesterday after taking the day off from work just for the game. Only 28% into the game after all that! Went driving around in free roam and was amazed at the approach Criterion took with some of the more subtle details in the game. Ice machines & soda machines, dumpsters, cones and advert signs outside stores, lodges, etc... Tour bus (modern style) outside the museum & lodge areas took me by surprise! Pay phone placements inside one of the tunnels. A call box phone by a fence with complete detail, out in the middle of nowhere. Looping ambient sound track of people inside the coffee, doughnut shops & restaurant. "The best coffee in whole Seacrest County". As a developer I probably would have left things like that out and thought that people would never even notice or care to see or hear those things in a race, chase game! The final product graphics remind me of Bad Company 2, not surprising as DICE was involved, but not as detailed as say Modern Warfare. The creative decision to make the night really dark on unlit remote roads was a good one IMO. Driving at over 200+ mph with only your headlights to help you see is a rush in it's self! The 1 on 1 interceptor night time modes with the higher end cars are amazing fun! Fugitves & suspects use tatics to elude you like 180's and other stuff I'll leave out so not to totally spoil it for everyone. But I will say chasing them at 220+ in the pitch black of night is a thrill ride you won't soon forget. I'll will say the AI in these chase modes is pretty darn good. It seems the game may posses enough content to render repeat plays. There are enough races & chases in all tiers, both medium & high end speed that I know I willl defintely go back for more fun, & try to top my current times. So anyone else got more to add after playing?........ -

From the official Need For Speed Facebook page: Hey guys, Interceptor mode allows you drive anywhere in Seacrest County online, so anything goes as you try to out-race the cops. You can free-ride anytime offline to take pictures and learn the lay of the land. ^SL:thumbsup: -
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit by Criterion
madpioneer replied to Rai06's topic in Driving & Racing Games
From someone who supposidly had inside information that I read, take it for what it's worth, not confirmed by me: Offline-solo free roam as a racer or cop with no damage no access to the overview map just your on-screen GPS. As a Racer NO! AI cops in waiting or crusing to chase & bust you if you speed or smash into things (like MW or Carbon). Online-supposidly you can free roam with a friend(s), where one/some can be a racer the other(s) a cop with damage, not sure if you get any bounty/bust points if a chase ensues? -
Now I have seen everything! http://www.ktuu.com/news/ktuu-radio-flyer-car-092910,0,1784245.story?wpisrc=nl_wonk

I may be a little biased when it comes to Vettes, as it is my all time favorite American car. Having owned an 85' C4 at the same time as an 84' Camaro Z28 I could easily compare the quality between them both. At the time the Vette was superior in all ways. Build quality, horsepower, torque, interior, materials etc... the Vette always came out on top. But we are talking about two different cars here. At one point two of my neighbors had C5's. One said C5 was hand built for a special GM event and ended up afterward at a dealership where my neighbor purchased it. That paticular Vette was faster than other exact model Vette. The build quality as well benefitted from the handbuild. I was able to look over them and even ride in them. So I saw and felt the quality compared to my C4. Which was much better than what I had. Now catching C6's including Z06's & ZR1's at local shows I can see the quality is getting even better. But the interiors have always been spartan, and that includes 80's-90's 5.0 Mustangs & Porsches. I remember seeing in the 90's a brand new 928 S4 on a showroom asking price was over $98K with a horrible spartan interior & of all things an indash 'cassette' player NO CD! Car was nice but the interior was plasticky old 70's style Datsun if you ask me. Not worth the asking price! The new ZR1 has been tested against the Lambo SV several times and is comparable in track speed and handling to a point. Just as one example. The ZR1 is around $120K USD and a Murc SV is around $400+K USD. So I think the Vette is a great bargain for what it is. Could it stand some improvement? Of course. Then again it is not handbuilt, nor gets the assembly line attention that a Ferrari or Lambo or others would get. Then of course there is the Lingenfelter & other package upgrades you can purchase to make it faster & more responsive. I don't think it has been around for over 50 years for no reason. I don't think it's the best car ever, but it is a good car for the money. The Corvette still stands as an iconic American car with a nice heritage. But many cars out there easily bypass it's quality & speed. My 1985 Vette sold off in 2008. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/madpioneer/DSCF0045.jpg

This is an Underground Racing twin turbo 1400 hp at the rear wheels mod. Not sure if the wheels were part of the mod package or owner changed on his own? -

Though I have already played part of the game and formed my own opinion of it, I hope any here that try the demo will give some of their thoughts & feedback about it. Wether you like it or hate it I would be interested & curious in hearing the comments. Either here or a whole new thread on the subject. -

Yeah I have seen & photgraphed one with the Heritage package, but this paticular one had old style honeycomb rims lowered & sounding very raw like a race car not your standard GT sound. Made to look like an old one, wish I could have taken a pic but alas I didn't bring my camera!:sulk: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/madpioneer/Cars%20and%20Coffee/IMG_0836.jpg -

I am sure that's true. You don't see Ferraris & Bentleys parked everywhere downtown but granted there are alot of cool toys here. Underground Racing 1000 Hp Gallardo, F40, Enzo's, a SV or two. The night I was at the local Need For Speed event saw a lowered Ford GT with GT40 dress louder than you can imagine! Owner must have wanted to emulate an original GT40 closely! To give you another idea of the toys round here.... Here is a local lunch get together meet-up.... Yes! thats a REAL Lime green SV not some kit car, and no it's not just some random pic I took from the web.. it's local toys for sure! http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/madpioneer/LamboLunch.jpg -

A few hours from Houston, but we got some 599 GTO's here. I am told 2 Enzo's & a Lambo SV. Quite a few Lambo Murc's, Gallardo's of all colors & makes. A few Countach's, Spyker's etc.... I try to catch what I can! We have a Bentley dealer here who also deals with Aston Martin & Lotus, so you can catch some nice ones at the dealership and at local shows. We also have a Ferrari dealership but carries mostly recent models. Then we have a few speacialist type dealers who can get you just about anything your heart desires if you have the coin of course. Sometimes they have some pretty classic exotic beauties on their showroom floors if you can catch em'. There is alot of $$$ here & alot of toys, but some prefer to be more private & never take their toys to local shows so I try to see whats out there the best that I can. More pics as I can hunt them down! As a side note, back in the 90's I must have seen every color of Testarossa's made they were everywhere here! Now you can pick up a used one for around $45,000. -

Yes! and they take a slice of it on the road (albeit limited events & locales) so at least some can try it out BEFORE the demo release. A novel concept. I hope more than Atari are watching & taking lessons. I am sure it cost them a little coin to do the small tour but are going to recoup that amount 1000 fold through game sales from people who attended that were perhaps on the fence about it like some here.
