  1. Ultimately there's nothing you can do to stop a truly determined mod thief from stealing credit for a mod you made, but there's nothing stopping you from making it as difficult as you possibly can. 1. Lock the .3DG file when you export from ZModeler2. This will prevent someone from using your mod as a basis for future projects. Locked files can potentially be unlocked, but it takes someone fairly skilled to do it, and it doesn't look like the current crop of thieves has that level of skill. 2. Sign the textures you use on a section not used by the mod. Every texture has unused space, use it to identify yourself as the original modder. Unless the thief is looking for the signature, he'll leave it in there which guarantees you a way to identify the original modder. This is especially important for HUD creators, mark your textures in a way that can't be seen ingame, but CAN be found if you investigate properly, because HUDs are being stolen as well as car and bike mods. 3. Watermark your screenshots. Find someone with photoshop to make a transparent text overlay of your name across all your preview images, right over the car/bike itself. Stop the thief from using your own screenshots for his gain. In a pinch you can use Irfanview (<--Clicky) or even MS Paint to leave opaque text across the image. 4. If you use an auto-installer, leave your name in it somewhere in the install.pch file. Most of the thieves who leave the installers intact never check that file, and it's just one more way to identify that it's yours. For Sound modders, if you can hide your name somewhere in the CarVSTConfig.xmb file, do it, or if it's possible to leave a readme TXT file inside the sound BNK without corrupting it, do that, car sounds are being stolen along with all the rest. 5. Leave your own name or logo on the outside of the car mod in 3D letters. I know it's not "realistic" to do this to every car, and I know some of you don't like this when sites like HF Garage does it, but if you lock the 3DG file afterwards, it's a highly visible reminder of who the original modder is that can't be removed. Just think of it as a "Dealership Logo" that most car dealers stick on cars they sell every day. You could even leave the text/logo in body color to hide it in plain site against the car body, it would be visible from an extreme angle in a reflection, but nearly invisible when looking directly at it. You could even make it small enough to be passed over on initial inspection or hide it in a specific location that makes it nearly invisible.
  2. I found that playground site last night, there's a ton of stolen mods on there without crediting the original modders. One of the biggest thieves is a modder who names himself "STEV GERRARD", he's taken mods from Tool, Terzer, Zoqqer, and others, removed all the original readme files, and taken the credit for himself. He even steals the credit for the HUDs and sounds he includes. There's also an entire Russian clan that's dedicated themselves to stealing TDU modder's work, you should be able to find most of their stolen stuff on the playground site. All the modders need to read this.... http://forum.turboduck.net/showthread.php?t=21336 Like I said, some restricted races CAN be run, it changes the Ford restriction to Honda if there's no Fords left in the game, but others it refuses to change, specifically the Jaguar and Alfa Romeo races/missions, and about a half dozen of the "Hot Model" missions that require specific cars. I'm just wondering if those early attempts at changing the brands may have resulted in database corruption that's causing the current lockouts.
  3. This bike desperately needs a factory stock skin. Install the GSXR manually, it works fine no matter what patch you're running.
  4. Link in sig, put the car wherever you want, then change the cameras.
  5. One question about that, will it be able to see (or fix) the bug in the vehicle names that kills some of the restricted races/missions? Example, if you rename a car from Ford to Honda, sometimes it can't be used for the Hot Model or Hitchhiker missions, or some of the restricted brand races.
  6. How are people figuring this out??? There's not a single ingame TDU HUD that shows RPM while in Cockpit view, so this means to me that they're just guessing that the RPM somehow doesn't match. In any case, people should be keeping their eyes on the road instead of the gauges, it's an arcade style driving game people, not a realism simulator.
  7. Make sure you check the physics in TDUPE before you start the game. If you find any blank entries, or any entries that say <resource not found> then fix them, those are what's causing the crashing.
  8. Then try the R34 GTR Cockpit cam, it's still centered, the steering wheel is a bit lower, and it looks down at the road a bit more.
  9. Check the attached pic, how exactly is that "too low" ?

  11. Rallying is nothing more than drifting on dirt. If you think you can't "drift" with a 4WD car, then maybe you should go watch Gymkhana 1 and 2, Ken Block going nuts at abandoned airports using full Rally and Drift techniques. What you call "powersliding" is more technically known as "Power Over", a DRIFTING technique detailed in Keiichi Tsuchiya's Drift Bible. Most tight sliding Rally turns are actually initiated in two major ways, Handbrake turns, and the well known "Scandinavian Flick", also known as Kansei Drifting.

  14. If you're installing things manually, and they work, just leave it alone. In many cases, the auto-installers have been known to seriously bug up people's games and cause them to have to re-install just to get things fixed again. It's the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"......
  15. Uhhhh, wrong, soooooo wrong. Programs that can extract 3D models from console games have existed for years now, they go as far back as the PS-1. A very cheap 3D modeling program called MilkShape3D could extract models from the original playstation game discs. Since then people have been ripping models from the Gran Turismo games on PS-1 and PS-2, as well as many other games. Plus we now have Forza 3 conversions being done. Because certain modders out there actually DO look at request lists like these, but the problem is, they look at them for what they WON'T do. Certain modders have the bad attitude that just because people want the car that they'll refuse to do it. This is the only modding community with that kind of stupid backwards thinking......
  16. Just because someone makes a sound for a Supra doesn't automatically mean they actually made it sound LIKE the Supra. Lots of the Supra sounds out there sound heavier and have more bass than the 2JZGTE engine they're supposed to sound like. The same thing goes for many modders that ever made Skyline sounds, they didn't always sound like the RB26DETT, many of them sounded like artificial sewing machines with a Kazoo for a muffler..... The RB26DETT has always had a heavy, bassy, deep roar to it. Bog stock they've all got the exact same claimed horsepower from the Factory, 280hp, the same exhaust diameter, the same number of catalytic converters, etc etc etc, so no, the sounds aren't going to be much different when factory stock. I seriously doubt that anyone but a dedicated RB26DETT engine builder could pick the sounds out of a blindfolded lineup. That still doesn't mean that you need someone to make you a sound labeled JUST for the R33 in order to put it on that mod. Search the sound mods section of all the known TDU modding sites (including the one you're on right now :rolleyes:), especially Reilsss' site, he's got some decent Skyline sounds. Just an FYI, you can go back farther than 2 months when browsing the Sound Mods section of this board.....
  17. There's nothing in this topic to download, this is just a list of cams and IK's for existing mods. You can find most of the mods here on this forum, some stuff can be found on some of the Russian sites, and still more on sites you would have to sign up for to download the mods. If you're looking for a specific car, just say which one and I'll try to help.
  18. Nope, the original modder would need to fix the bug himself.
  19. Then you need to find who made the model and ask them to give it to a TDU modder for conversion.

  23. Obviously somebody already did make it because that's a 3D Render and not a picture of a real car.
  24. Uhhhhh dude, I suggest you actually learn what engines are in the Skylines.... RB26DETT for the R32, R33, and R34. It's the SAME ENGINE for all three cars. The only thing that's different are the turbos and exhaust systems, which means any one of the dozens of inline 6 cylinder engine sounds could easily work for the R33.
  25. Look Up.....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
