  1. Merc is trying too hard with the AMG bits and paintjobs. From the atrocious aero package on the A/CLA/GLA to this grey Edition 1 C-class.

They try hard because they notice it sells, and that's what matters. Look at the second-hand market how many 117's, 176's, 205's, 213's, 222's etc are fitted with the AMG sportspack bumpers, the 'diamond' grille, many-spoke rims... The liveries like the AMG striping were only used on a few entry-series cars (which were designed to attract younger dynamic audiences as Merc would say). Everything above the C (including GTS Edition1) didn't get that. And some of the new paints like Solarbeam, Hyacinth Red and that 176 metallic green are quite nice imo.

You say it is good because it makes the car (and the owner) stand out from the crowd.

Don't twist my words, I never said it's >good< because it makes it stand out. I only said it makes it stand out, and that's what some people want. Not me, I'd never order striping, if I'd buy a racing car in most cases I'd get the hairdryer out and make it plain-body.

I don't really care if the design is based on a DTM race car.

Other's do, just look at the gazillion cars in Gulf, Martini or John Player Special liveries. So for them, if they would be made aware it's also on the DTM car, some might like that link, even though Merc doesn't even actually race with it in those colors. And I never said you have to care, I was only providing that the paintjob didn't entirely drop out of the sky.

  2. The satin paint mixed with the stripes is absolutely disgusting. That paint is very very hit and miss, the stripes are 100% awful, so it's very bizarre. What are merc playing at? Is the chav market really big enough to cater too?

My mom and I saw this thing at DTM this year, she loved the paintjob, even didn't mind the striping. I also liked it a bit more in real than on photos. And the livery's based on how they debuted the C Coupe DTM car, it was introduced with the same livery so Merc decided to make a special edition for the AMG roadcar. Though I'm interested to see how many people opted for this package. Also these specific colors were the PR-livery, but it was also available in other colors such as black striping on a white car (as done on the A45 earlier).

And yes, this makes a car pop out from the rest. Good-looking or not is a different story, but that doesn't matter. I bet the Chinese loved it, because there's only one thing that beats a Chinese driving a Euro premium performance car: a Chinese driving a Euro premium limited-edition performance car.

  3. Luckilly we got some Australian 4-doors to smack such a livery on, just too bad those don't come with police equipment.

Modified my red NSX to something a bit more sporty looking, though it's now also fully tuned:

And I bought a Countach for some 80's championship, though I had to get the S1 Quattro out for the many-tight-turns tracks.

  4. Me too lol. Haven't been able to surpass that but I'm a bit poor in choosing the moments. The permanent blur on the photomode also doesn't help a lot for most pictures. I read it's caused by the fact the game starts in a form of windowed mode (because apps can't start full-screen?). The screen becomes bigger when the top and lower bars disappear but the photomode apparently just stretches along. But we won't have to count on a fix soon, they know the issue but said it has a low priority to them.

Here two more shots, finally captured the EB110 SS. Visually I'd still rather have the GT, the SS rims are so ugly (sorry Andreas... but at least it's not the game itself). Also got the cars from that smoking tire thing pack and when there's a cop car, it has to get dressed as one. So I made a livery, imaginary though, but at least not classic American black/white. The cop car is great for drifting when it got an engine swap and some tuning but no new brakes, tires or anything that improves handling

  5. Ye it's a stradale kind of striping. Ain't no Ferrari complete without one

Few more, of my absolute favorites for doing races with. The E63 has been almost fully tuned (without swaps) so it's AWD, goes like hell and won't stop till it reaches ±390 km/h. It drives like it's on rails even when off-roading, while the other cars in its class are slower and most are RWD. The Ultima is also crazy fast and handles insanely good. Mine was tuned to go ~395 km/h and combined with its handling it's sufficient for most things until now.

Also I finally broke through the 2M credits barrier and that means there's only one thing I should do: buy that CLK-GTR. The Countach is there because photo hunt.

And when I have to take pictures in real life of moving things, it mostly looks like below. Then again, photo hunt, I didn't capture an F40 yet (left on picture)

  6. Sorry, this was the time I decided to use a different name, so it is ''CLR GTR'', no hyphen but a space.

But it doesn't matter, plans just changed so I gotta drive somewhere today, meaning I can't be at the cruise, at least not before 14:00 GMT I think. :(

  7. Makes me wonder what specs the old CLK/R GTR had by way of comparison

Roadcar CLK-GTR (non Supersport) had 631PS, ~3,7 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of just over 320 km/h. In 17 years this has not been exceeded. It's been the same for the CLK-GTR, SLR, SLS, AMG GT and the now previous generation E-Class Estate.

  8. Few more things from my side:

I also noticed my PC version of the game can't handle cancelling a Windows Store pop-up through one of the ingame things. For example, I wanted to know what the treasure map was, and when I saw it was paid content, I cancelled the store payment pop-up, then the game crashed to desktop.

Also, the game doesn't seem to like a keyboard+mouse setup. I can live with a very small default windows arrow (I usually link that to a background error window but alright), but I would have liked to set the mouse sensitivity of for example looking around.

And speaking of which, the looking around functions really, really suck. I can't look backwards if I have throttle pressed, the interior look-around is really limited before it warps outside of the car, it only rotates around a vertical axis (so no look down/up) and also the side viewing is linked to the car's driving direction. Really annoying, but maybe this was too difficult to get done right?..... lol

Regarding car models... it's a bit of a shame in some cases the detail differences between showroom/photomode cars and the models while racing is sometimes too clear to see. Same goes for cars that might have been imported from older Forza's. And some details are a bit off, like in the E63 where all buttons light up white instead of a yellowish color, and the parking sensor display shows all blips on. Something that usually only happens when you practically touch the object they're trying to warn you for. Would have also liked to see more OEM wheel styles to choose from.

Despite all these things though, I'm liking it, more than The Crew to be honest, also for a big part thanks to the environment (more realistically sized roads). It's going to be interesting though to see how Playground/Turn10 pick this up with all these issues being found/posted on the forums.

  9. Sofar Forza Horizon 3 isn't making exactly a smooth impression on PC. There seems to be a LOT of issues with wheels that should be supported but don't work, there's a lot of stuff that isn't being saved, and more importantly, the game for some people won't make it beyond the Turn10 splash screen. To top it off, many PC players are reporting missing Ultimate bonuses, which DO show up when they start their game on xbox...

This is getting interesting, in a bad way :(

EDIT: I got further into the game, managing even to customize the keyboard setup. Now the game crashes to desktop when pressing Continue in the main menu, I suppose the thing that starts cutscenes and gameplay etc.

    EDIT 2:

So I got it to work! Loading times are pretty long but alright, it works. What I have done is disabling the microphone in both Sound>Recording as in Privacy Settings. Somehow, for more people than just me, that seems to do the trick.

  10. Ye, I think Volvo just won with 5 hands up their nose. Merc is now too much wanting to be like the rest.... Oh we wanna have an X6 and X4 too! Oh we also want an Allroad stationwagon! Oh we also want cars to be hard to tell apart from eachother!

But I'm sure they'll prove me wrong and this car alone will have the same effect as the Cayenne had to Porsche :nods: :D

  11. Merc just introduced theirs...

    2048_16C722_066-1.jpg

Not called the E-Class 4MATIC² or 4x4² or GLE (oh wait, they already have that name...), but simply E-Class All-Terrain. It is supposed to sit 29 mm higher than a regular E Estate of which 14 mm is caused by the larger wheel/tire. Nice?

Maybe it's me but apart from visual links to the SUV lineup with the slotted grille wings, the alu-look front and rear bumper protector thingies and all that dark plastic, I don't really see the use of this over a normal E Estate with 4MATIC (their AWD system). But I guess people like off-road looks...

  12. Just when Dieselgate decided to lay low for a while... yeahhhh no such luck. Süddeutsche Zeitung (South-German Newspaper) says they own various correspondance which are currently being investigated by Jones Day, some American lawyer firm. Based on those pieces, they are concluding that not VW but Audi is responsible for the cheatsoftware development, as an Audi manager would have clearly stated they múst cheat in order to pass ever stricter emission regulations.

    It ain't over, not yet...
