i agree with rb26dett on the choice of 8800 as well (DO NOT GO FOR THE 320MB MODELS) as they the ones with the main stream of the stutter problems i was mentioning earlier.

well if your wanting to upgrade to vista you need more ram for sure, as soon as you install vista on your current one your system will slow an awful lot. as for an entire upgrade, its genarally cheaper to upgrade as oppose to new build, but if you need a new motherboard etc, new builds can become comparable to a certain degree. if a total m/board style upgrade is on the cards check some prices on starter kits, might work out better for you...

well i agree with the upgrade of it and thats why im going to do it, after all i spend bloody thousands on my rig so it can only help, its just that im on the lowest core2duo at the moment and dont have any trouble playing anything but crysis at max settings, but this said i still can run quite high on it. which makes the cpu upgrade seem shall we say less needed when i compare it to things like gimicky triplehead.. but i was thinking about a quad core, but again not many games out they at the moment that fully use these chips as they can be, and crysis designed to be optimal on quad cores has created some rather disapointing results in a few cases. might do some research on those new upcoming chips you mention when im finished here though.. PS i already know the 780i and 680i motherboards are supported in tri sli (using 8800GTX and ULTRAGPUs) and i already own the 680i motherboard, so im good to go there at least.

i wouldnt bother going to an 8800GPU if your budget will extend that far. for the simple reason as much as adore nvidia cards and would never go back to ati the 8800 series has had a load of bugs/complaints throughtout the entire range, and in general dont perform as well as they should do in all honesty. you can read endless stuff on this topic, alot of the gts owners and a few of the others returned they cards in a very short space of time. i was also at one point considering the same action. instead i would wait an extra few weeks and jump straight to the 9series cards due very soon. however this could result in the same issues as i encountered, left with some expensive hardware that doesnt deliver everything it promised... and as we all know your GPU can be one of the most expensive parts within your case.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS: heres mine, after long and considerable thought... upgrade pc to following specs: 1)triplehead 2 go and 2 more of present monitor 2)track ir pro 4 (which wife owes me - so thats sorted) 3)4gig ram - (ordered already) 4)better processor (not too worried about this but might as well lol) 5)triple SLI setup - last in line... not really needed, but just like the idea of it So how do i achieve this goal ? thats right donations, please give what you can asap folks...

not to sure what you mean by frozen state, im assuming that you mean when you enter the race you cant move from the start line, if so i have heard many times about the problem on single player race events, but not so much on multiplayer events. anyhow the single player bug of this type over the last year seems to be have pinned down to user using a nocd fix. goodluck with the problem.

Some of the stage 2 & stage 3 tuning packs are the wrong way around, if you return to the tuner in a new untuned jag, the chances are you are racing with such a car to correct the problem you need to use a stage 2 racing kit rather than the third option. this problem occurs on several cars and you need too keep an eye for them :)

really sounds like a bug to me fella, many times ive been sat talking to a group of folk and they cars are just dancing and hyper speeding around when in fact they actually sat as sit as you are. sometimes up at lighthouse i can just do dougnuts whilst the cars around warp around.
