  1. Your memory's going old bean ;) What did you tell me to do in this post: http://forum.turboduck.net/showthread.php?p=58478#post58478 ? (read onwards) (hint - how did I get my afro ;) )
  2. Oh yeah, been a PC gamer for far too long :)
  3. Chasing the sun... -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) --
  4. What's that meant to mean?
  5. Sorry to hear that - losing your job is depressing in almost any situation. Does oz have job seekers benefits like we do over here? If so get on that pronto and you'll either get a new job or get paid while trying to :)
  6. Ferrari 430 Spyder, with a hole in the exhaust and a very poorly engine. I know Ferrari's normally sound very rough, but this one sounded really really rough.
  7. Nah, very good actually.
  8. Heh sorry, yes you'll be be able to see smoke in the GAME ;) But yes it will jerk. The HD 3450 is a pretty slow card.
  9. It won't smoke! But it will be jerky if you have the resolution/details turned up. Just play about with the options and/or resolution and it'll be very playable.
  10. You can tell the difference can you?
  11. Audi R8 (big fat, pretty ugly) Aston Martin Vantage (really quite small in real life - nippy though!) AM DB9 (huge!) 911 GT3 RS (bright orange! Tasteless on normal roads) Jag XKR (gorgeous, especially the rear. Reminds me of a lotus somehow)
  12. LOL you can't be worse than me - I'm wing over splitter more times than not on my 'pad :p Still fun though.
  13. But not very fast.
  14. Reference point.
  15. They do look horrendous, though we'll get used to them. I first thought we'd be getting back to cars that looked a bit like the racers in the 80s/90s, which were to my eyes the best looking of all of them, but that new front wing just ruins it. Guess they must be there for something other than looking good then ;)
  16. Sounds like we should organise a time for all the TDU-Cers to race together :)
  17. Nice Eden, but you'll want to use triple channel with that i7, so choose either 3x1gb or 3x2gb sticks of DDR3.
  18. Thanks Speedtouch, appreciate it. I know you mean use -ve exposure comp rather than stop down the aperture ;) And it's a good point, but sadly the dynamic range (shooting in the direction of the sun in a shady forest!) was way too much for the little P+S and a darker shot I took lost too much shadow detail (unrecoverable - this shot already has some shadow and highlight detail recovered). I need a proper camera :p Oh and I agree about rule of thirds, but in this case the scenery either side of the shot was pretty naff.

  20. Bath, Edinburgh and Manchester are the stand out choices there mate. They are all fantastic places and universities. Bath and Edinburgh have a smaller, more traditional feel to their cities, while Manchester has so much life and choice it's a great place to be (and is much improved recently - you won't be shot/stabbed unless you end up in the wrong part, but it's so huge you won't ever need to). Dundee, Nottingham Trent and Liverpool are the next ones down in terms of uni, though the cities aren't that great (avoid nottingham if you don't want to get shot - and they have the worst football team in the entire world), and the rest I don't rate particularly well at all. While Oxford is a nice enough place (I suppose, for being the wrong blue and all), you'll get very annoyed with everyone who's at the 'real' university there.. ;)
  21. X360 is out today, PC next week I think, PS3 soon after. Definitely looks to have a sort of soldier of fortune/turok type feel. Screenshots look very nice. Not sure I'll get to play it much though having just got Fallout 3 :p
  22. Hippy tree-lover, moi? (by some completely random co-incidence there's lots of minis in the background so you can pretend it's a car shot if you must) :p http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/3336/autumntreeresizexh8.jpg
  23. Nah, you don't need a wheel. I think I'm doing ok with a pad, just a case of getting it set up right. I had some fun pootling around the ring on my own trying to get the car setup right - got one that worked really well as long as I was in the zone.. but then I made a mistake and totalled the car :o
  24. Even if it did, that would only be for the online portion of the game. So yes, it's a small victory (similar to that of other online games like Guild Wars/WoW/etc.), but ideally games should sell to people wanting to play games offline as well.
  25. Piracy has been around since before the PC was even invented.. it's not that that's changed, instead, once upon a time, people thought that stealing was wrong and that it was right to pay for something that you would enjoy so despite pirate software being around it wasn't used by most people. That seems to have changed and the majority of PC gamers think that they deserve to get something for free that has cost millions to make. They even do that despite the fact it means they lose out in the long run. So ultimately it comes down to two things - lack of morality, and lack of intelligence. If there was an easy way to cure those then I think we'd all be better off :) But we can only rely on education and setting a good example (by parents, peers) to try and change it. It seems to go in cycles - we hunted the dodo to extinction because we prefered short term gains to actually thinking things through in the long run.
