I have no objection to all the side show activity we keep getting shown. While trailer after trailer about social aspects is frustrating I see why they are doing it and it makes sense.
From browsing comments on TDU2 articles across various popular gaming sites it's becoming increasing clear that for anyone who likes racing/driving games TDU2 is pretty much a day one purchase. Similarly a lot of non racing game fans who were lured in by TDU's appeal the first time around also have it on their hit lists.
So with that, why try and sell a product to people who've already got it down as a purchase? The focus on the social aspect is pushing TDU2 to a wider crowd, the people who are usually put off by the idea of a racing game but once combined with almost RPG and adventure game like elements may be tempted into it. For the rest of us who are all about the cars it can create a false image of the game losing it's direction, which I am reliably ensured is not the case.
So while these trailers may not entertain us or excite us, there is imo an intelligent point behind them.
