  1. Thanks for the advice, both of you. I do realise the 350D is getting on a bit now in the world of cameras but I'm not up for spending £500 on a camera like I was almost prepared to do a few months ago. I don't need a camera which can record HD video now so that saves me quite a lot of money. I'll either keep my FZ38 for filming or sell it on at some point. I plan on getting a couple of other lenses at some point, I'll probably wait until I next get paid, I don't know when that'll be because I've been paid twice in two weeks but I'm only meant to get paid once a month. Motorsport is the sort of photography I want to focus on although when things quiet down on the motorsport front I'll probably try out some landscape and wildlife photography. I've also been asked to photograph a wedding after-party in a couple of weeks (not the Wedding itself I wouldn't trust myself with that yet :p). I'd guess it'll be quite harsh lighting in places with disco lighting etc. How would you anticipate the 350D and any of the lenses mentioned to cope with that sort of atmosphere? There's no rush to get a camera really but it'd be a bonus to have one ready for the party in a couple of weeks because judging by past experiences with my FZ38 I can't see it handling the lighting too well.
  2. Thought I might as well continue hi-jacking this thread a few months on instead of creating a new thread which also means quite a big bump :p Thanks for all of the above links, I did look at them all but in the end I decided against spending so much money. I'm back looking at cameras again now but at half the price as I think I'll probably start getting into photography instead of faffing around with YouTube videos which don't seem all too successful any more. This brings me on to wanting something cheap and cheerful. To be honest I'm only looking at second hand DSLRs (No more than £250) and other forums that I 'bless' with my presence seem to like recommending the Canon EOS 350D as a good starting point. I've been scanning the bay and found one which has caught my interest at £225 (Or Make an Offer) which comes with the 18-55mm lens, polarising filter and EW-60C lens hood which I've read is pretty useless but never-the-less it's something else that the cameras in the other auctions I've looked at don't have. What are people's thoughts on the 350D as a starting point? If I do actually buy something this time around I'll probably wait until I next get paid and buy another lens but what are people's recommendations?
  3. Like the camera and also like the phone. Mmmmmmaybe... I won't buy one of each because I won't have any savings left :/
  4. This is all I've got that I'd consider entering and it's not that good anyway. Although, I did see a coupe E-Type today in the same colour parked behind a pub but that's for another thread. P1010047 by GTAMADDOG, on Flickr
  5. My obligatory Metal addition to this thread, although saying that, this could be described as Death 'n' Roll:
  6. Time for me to buy some of those cars, me thinks. I bought the yacht and got the Atom V8 (which I'm not really interested in) yesterday after I finally willed myself into doing the last Hawaii Championship. Need some cars to put in me boat now. Edit: Oh. My. God. I could listen to the sound of the Shelby Mustang GT500 endlessly and never get bored of it.
  7. I think the pictures of the DBS and V12 Vantage are the wrong way around on the TDU2.com website. I wouldn't mind the Caterham, GT500, XKR and 370Z OP to be honest. But just yesterday I ran out of garage space after buying the MP4-12C, still a couple of million away from being able to afford the yacht as well.
  8. Met a guy who's a DJ at parties today and also claims to have seen many UFOs over the last decade or so. He also claims to know that crop-circles are made by people who wish to attract UFOs by using the weird designs you sometimes see and completely denies crop-circles being created by UFOs which have landed, he apparently knows quite a few people who make the crop circles including one that appeared in a field near to me about 6 months ago. He also claims to have seen an E.T. of which he could describe in quite a lot of detail but the mental image generated in my mind made me question myself as to whether I should believe the guy or not. He described it as "Absolutely the most horrible thing I've seen in my entire life. It was covered in spikes like a hedge-hog and also had no face, but had two piercing blue dots which I presumed to be the being's eyes and it also hovered above the ground despite having limbs which looked a lot like legs. Once I'd got my mind around what I could possibly be stood infront of I put my hand out and was about to greet it before it shot off up into the sky in a blink of an eye". I must add, though, that he did look like a 1970s Hippie and didn't look like the sort of guy who gets out of the house a lot and neither did he look like he was a stranger to illegal substances. But, saying that, it was interesting enough listening to him anyway. He even has his own website which he claims has 100% real photographs, unedited, of some of the things he's seen although he can't say the same about the videos which are not his.
  9. Quite interested in this game but then I get the thought hanging around in the back of my head that makes me think that in essence it'll be just like every other racing game with no features to make it stand out from the rest. Graphics look decent, not entirely convinced about physics from the videos I've watch, car-list is samey.
  10. New interior looks tidy. Still haven't found some nice half-leathers for my 306. There were some in Swansea the other week which were in great condition and only £80 but I hesitated too much and someone else snapped them up :(
  11. Sort of off-topic but I love Cathedral cheese, especially on toast. That is all.
  12. One of the very few Metalcore bands I can stand listening to all day and my favourite of their songs: Good mix of clean vocals and screaming in my opinion. "They've already judged me, why can't they trust me". Sounds like a lot like my life at the moment.
  13. I love the album that this song is on.
  14. Went for my first proper bike ride in... a number of years today. Did better than I expected and I'm obviously fitter than I thought I was, which is strange because the last time I went on a bike ride it was with Mistermojo and I basically died. Might take it up as a different hobby to sitting on a computer doing sod-all, but not in a serious "MUST GET FIT" sort of way. Just to keep me oot 'n' aboot.
  15. I find this hilarious every time I watch it, half of what makes it funny are the accents. Contains very strong language
  16. The perks of knowing someone who works in a Bang & Olufsen repair center. Apparently a lot of the customers are really picky and if there's any damage to any of their products - even the smallest of hairline scratches, even if they've caused it themselves - they'll ask for a replacement. Can't blame them considering the price of some of the stuff really. I can't see anything visually wrong with these earphones though.
  17. I guess these aren't really a purchase seeing as I got them for free. Second or possibly even third set of Bang & Olufsen earphones I've got that I haven't paid for although these are for mobile phones and have a built in microphone compared to the usual MP3 player ones. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020663.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020654.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020653.jpg Excuse the crap photos, my camera's rubbish when it comes to taking photos of stuff under the lights in this house.
  18. Oooo, there's a video for it now. I posted the song a couple of pages back but it had Radio 1 presenters talking over some of it, as they do.
  19. Cheers, y0. Serviced my car yesterday. New air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and oil. All that's left to do is swap the driver-side front wheel for one of the spares I have because the tread is getting low and the tyre's wearing quite quickly on the outside and then sort out one of the belt tensioners which is seized up and then she should be sorted... mechanically.
  20. I bought an Amazon box: http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020636.jpg Which also had these couple of things inside for some reason: http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020638.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020639.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020641.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020649.jpg Feels like such a waste having the G5 sat around doing nothing now so I think I might sell it to a friend, or I might just keep it as a back up, it's done a Hell of a lot of killing though. 16,500+ kills in CS:S alone since Steam started recording stats for it, I probably killed just as many people before.
  21. Well, I got one of the things I ordered last week, today. My new mouse and mouse mat did have an attempted delivery but I wasn't in which is sod's law so I'll hopefully end up with those tomorrow. For now, have some photographs of the Led Zeppelin - Mothership CD/DVD set. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020631.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020632.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020633.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020634.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/P1020635.jpg £4 - Bargain. :coolspot:
  22. I should've meantioned this really but I was completely knackered at the time and not thinking very clearly. Had the same thing myself when I installed my HD 5850. Plugged everything in, put the case back together and pressed the power button and the computer started but I had no video output on the monitor. So, I instantly thought "Oh, fantastic, I've been sent a dodgy card, just what I needed" followed by a lot swearing before I remembered that it needed the extra power input. Connected those up and all was well.
  23. An ATI Radeon HD 5770 should be good enough, they should be under budget as well, something like this: XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 If you could stretch your budget by £10 then something like the following would be more than enough although it's not in stock until next week: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5
