  1. In the tunnel pic where you can see the driver, does anyone else think that the driver is either incredibly tiny or the car is ridiculously huge? I'm pretty sure the C1 Corvettes weren't that big of a car.
  2. Only in Europe I think. If I stand outside the shop I work at for about an hour I'll see four or five drive by. No special sightings for me today, gonna have to wait till one of my co-workers brings in one of his toys.
  3. The current gen Viper is in what is known as the "Final Edition", there have been Final Edition Vipers before, it just marks the end of the current gen of car. The next generation of Vipers will come about in 2013, with a hiatus over the 2011 year and the concept debuting in 2012. It's just a matter of waiting.
  4. Discussion of the Beta in ANY way (even saying that you are in the Beta) outside of the official Atari Beta forums is against the NDA and will not be tolerated in TDUC. Best keep the sharing feeling to yourself if its not bug reporting to Atari.
  5. +1. If Eden didn't care, they would have just released on the original date to cash in on as many of the pre-orders as possible, then turn a blind eye when the complaints rolled in. Instead, they put forth a Beta program to get everything fine tuned so that their customer base would be as happy as possible. In the service industry it's known as the rule of 3-10. If a customer has a good experience they will bring in 3 of their friends, if they have a bad experience they will drive away 10. You can make alot more money gaining 3 potential customers than you can losing 10.
  6. Absolutely. Take two games into consideration; one has decent graphics but the gameplay is absolutely fantastic. The other is prettier than any other game on the planet but gameplay is a crap sandwich. Which one do you think someone would play more often? I know I would play the one with better gameplay, it's why i still throw in TDU while my copies of the various NFS games that came after it gather dust. If this game takes a little longer to come out but when it comes out I literally have a life that consists of sleep, work, play TDU2 because it's so fun to play, repeat; I will be one very happy camper.
  7. True they won't rewrite it entirely, but they can make tweaks to it to fine-tune it.
  8. If you really want to make it worthwhile for those who haven't gotten a beta key, keep your eyes open for bugs, listen to the community's feedback based on the leaked footage they see, and give Atari/Eden LOTS of feedback. Make this game worth the wait for those who are still waiting.
  9. I was sure of that about myself too, but now, I legally can't say squat! Keep your hopes up. Things can change.
  10. Actually since it has been a while since any actual news was available the name of this section should be Test Drive Unlimited 2 - News!!! EDIT: I'm giddy as a school girl right now. I'll let you figure out why ;)
  11. How do they define "devout fans"? I can point out alot of people on these forums who I would consider "devout fans" that I'm willing to bet didn't get into the beta. I'm willing to bet that "devout fans" means "were playing on the TDU1 servers at the exact moment we decided to chose people for the beta".
  12. The Beta couldn't have possibly started! I didn't get my beta key! J/K, congrats to those who got the chance to Beta test TDU2. Look for those bugs and try to break the game! I want this game to be near perfect when released! (so long as it's released in the near future!)
  13. The lack of up to date cars is probably due to two factors: Getting the licensing rights and making the models. Both take a considerable amount of time, so by the time that the model is made and the licensing is acquired the car model has been updated.
  14. those pictures look really familiar........ 5 pics, since crazee's post is technically non-existent.
  15. Receive bacon! Dangerous bacon! http://eatliver.com/img/2009/4222.jpg [mod edit:] Please do not post images larger than 350KB, use a thumbnail or a text link instead, thanks!
  16. I love how on Bonafide's main site it says that "Test Drive Unlimited Volume 1 was a big hit". Maybe TDU2 has already been released, just not the whole volume! Only the Trees and Moths parts of the volume have been released!
  17. You know, I'm starting to see similarities between Atari's release schedules and Valve's release schedules. We can expect to be old and grey when either company releases the game we're waiting for out of their studios, and in the mean time they release 50 games that no one wanted or cared about to try and distract people from the fact that they're getting to the point where Duke Nukem Forever looks more ready to be released than their more anticipated games.
  18. Test Drive Unlimited 2: Unlimited Wait Time
  19. While ground clearance is a HUGE factor in offroading, how you drive is an even bigger factor. Taking the correct approach and running the correct lines through obstacles can make up for a lack of ground clearance, hence why I could take a stock Jeep Cherokee into the same (and sometimes more) places that the big lifted off road vehicles went when I used to go offroading with my friends when I was in college. Besides, from what I've seen in the trailers for TDU2, we won't need to worry too much about "real" off road performance, since the off road aspect seems to be nothing more than a texture, sound effect, and grip change from the on road aspect.
  20. I like to think that they are taking the time to clear out bugs, but then I remember how many times TDU was delayed and how many bugs it still had in the game, even long after release. I hope that they learned from their mistakes with the first one, but of course I'm willing to bet that if you ask an employee about the mistakes in the first, they would say "What mistakes? We wanted TDU to be an experience!" /pessimism
  21. From what I'm seeing in both the gaming industry and in the US game release styles, the word "Beta" has replaced the word "Demo". Most of the games that I have played the "Beta" recently ( Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor being two of the most recent) saw little to no change when the final version came out. I'm willing to bet that Atari has taken the same approach, release the "Beta" to everyone who gave them money from the announce date, then only listen to the feedback from the develop team and their personal friends, letting the feedback from the consumers after full release become patches at a later date (or in EA's case, be something they break in a patch at a later date while adding something that no one cared about.)
