The crap help I got from Atari and Digitalriver...
killalldude replied to killalldude's topic in Gaming Discussion
^I made a thread and contacted Implausable at Atari's TDU forum about this issue early last month. Implausible just told me to contact Digitalriver. I didn't really get any useful help from anyone there. This past weekend I saw the Megapack for sale on a European site. The currency was in GBP, but I was able to convince Dad to buy it. And guess what? As soon as I finished paying with Paypal, the website automatically redirected me to the download site and sent me the activation code email! Too bad my graphics card died the next morning. Haven't been able to test out the megapack yet :sulk: Anyways, after downloading it from the European site, I contacted Implausible again, telling him that Digitalriver sucks and[insert all sorts of slander/swearing here, then wash mouth out with laundry detergent]. He thought that I was trying to buy the megapack outside of North America, even though I was registered at the North American Atari forum. I sent him another message telling him that I am actually an American resident and he has not replied since. Oh well, at least now I have 45 more cars to exploit with my lead foot! -
Best Gaming Graphics Card Under $100?
killalldude replied to killalldude's topic in Gaming Discussion
After doing some more research, I'm now deciding between the 4870, 5750, and the 5770 (it's moving to sub $150 now lol). I will be getting a 1gb version no matter what card I buy (you can never go wrong with more vram, right? :)). Right now, I just don't know which is better, the 5750 or the 4870. I know that the 4870 is faster, but will I see much of a difference between the 4870 and 5750 (look at my specs)? The 4870 kicks the 5750 and 5770's butt, however from what I've read, the 5770 is a better all rounder. E: Feel free to suggest an nVidia equivilant or better, preferably less than $150. I don't look at nVidia's that much since I find ATI's product range easier to understand (the higher the number, the better the card :D) -
Threads made of fail from the TDU2 forums!

Well, I had a Dimension 4600 and I was able to replace the PSU and processor and a whole bunch of other things. I don't know why everyone says upgrading factory computers is uber hard. When buying your PSU, just measure the size of your old psu and when you are buying the new one search for the dimensions of it. One problem:Opening the case of your computer may void your warrenty, so you should check on the status of it before doing anything. So, if you do choose to upgrade the CPU, contact DELL. On their website somewhere there is an instant message help system. All you do is connect with some DELL technician, give them your serial number, and ask them what is the fastest processor your computer can handle. They will tell you the exact processors that will be compatible with your system. Make sure you get the "SSpec" number of the processor. Then, just copy and paste this number into any computer parts store and you will find the correct one for your computer. The only problem with upgrading these computers is you will eventually reach your computer's limit (I can't think of any other way to phrase this, I hope you understand what I'm saying). You would have spent lots of money on your old computer, and you cannot make it any better. This money would have probably been better spent on a new one. As Mellors says, try out the beta before dumping your wallet into your current computer. Consider the cost of buying a new PSU, processor, and graphics card. You'll probably spend at least $400 on parts, unless you are planning to buy from eBay (you'll definatly get a good deal on the PSU and processor there!) and/or settle for used parts. After you figure out how much it costs to upgrade your old computer, pretend you are going to build your new computer. Select the parts you would put into your new computer and total it. Compare the cost of your new computer to your upgrade and use this as one of your deciding factors.

Best Gaming Graphics Card Under $100?
killalldude replied to killalldude's topic in Gaming Discussion
Thanks for your help guys, I'm planning on getting the 4850 or 4870, but I still don't know whether to get 512mb or 1gb. -
Hey guys, unfortunatly my graphics card died on me this morning. I need some suggestions on what to buy, as graphics cards is something I suck at buying. I really don't want to go over $100. I want something better than my 512mb XFX 9800GT. I don't really need something that can run games like Crysis at maximum settings. I'm looking at getting something that will play TDU2 and GTA:4 at high-medium settings. It would be nice if it were something that doesn't become useless after 1-2 years. I don't have any preferances between nVidia or ATI. E: I forgot to mention that I play a modded TS3, and my current card lags when I add lots of mods to TS3. I have a 19" monitor, the resolution is 1360x768 I'm currently looking at: ATI Radeon HD 4870 ATI Radeon HD 5750 ATI Radeon HD 5770 Was looking at: nVidia Geforce 9600GT nVidia GTS 250 ATI Radeon HD 4670 ATI Radeon HD 4850 ATI Radeon HD 5670 Should I get something with 1GB video ram, or is 512mb fine? Decided on 1gb Any help is appreciated :D

Used cars aren't always bad. My parents always buy used. You get a lot more for your money. Just don't buy something with more thak 35k miles, that's just too old. The bulletproof way to get a reliable used car is to get a used car from the dealer (even if it's not certified pre-owned, the dealer reconditions all of their used cars). The only downside to this is a used car from a dealer is that it could be anywhere from 2-5k more than getting it from a private owner. There's nothing wrong with getting a used car from a private owner, but if the person seems "car stupid" you definatly don't want a used car from them. Mileage and condition are the main factors when you buy a used car. The lower the miles, the newer the car will be (it has been used less, so there's less wear and tear on the car). A car in good condition means the owner cared about their car, and properly maintained it. I don't know whether you want something sporty, reliable, or versatile, or what you are going to use this car for, but I'll make some suggestions. These are all used with less than 35k miles. 80-09 Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable- This might not seem like a fun car, but considering you can get a sedan that's as big as a Crown Vic, loaded with leather and a decent interior for around 13-16k with around 20-30k miles, its a bargain. It's safe too! 05+ Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan- This too isn't a very fun car, but a fully loaded midsize sedan for around 14k (depending on year) is a bargain. 05+ Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Magnum- A fully loaded V6 with low miles of any of these LX platform cars can be had at less than 15k. A fully loaded V8 with decent miles can be found in the 17k-20k region. 05-07 Audi A4- One of these with decent miles will run you about 18k BMW E46 3-Series- If you don't mind an older body style, e46's with low miles are in the upper teens. 06+ Cadillac CTS/STS- V6 versions of these cars can be had in the 16-18k range 05+ Ford Mustangs- V6's can be had for less than 14k with decent features, V8's can be found in the upper teens. This is a great car since it's so mod friendly (if you're into that kind of thing) 03+ Infinity G35- A midsize luxury priced in the upper teens 04+ Jaguar X-Type and S-Type- Compact luxury sedan in the upper teens 05+ Jeep Grand Cherokee- Midsize SUV, IMO the best SUV in it's class. It has a decent interior and can be had for less than 18k 06+ Jeep Commander- Midsize SUV, but unlike the GC it can seat 7. Looks nice, can be had for less than 20k 06+ Lexus IS250- Another compact sedan, can be had for just shy of 20k 06+ Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ- The 06 was named the Zephyr, 07+ were named MKZ, idk why. Anyways, these are just luxury versions of the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. With decent miles, you'll get one for around 16-18K 05+ Lincoln Town Car- Don't know if you're into Town Cars, but a boat on wheels for 16K, why not? :D W209 Mercedes CLK-Class- If you're lucky, you may find one for just under 20k 03+ Mini Cooper- Depending on the year and features, a Mini with reasonable mileage can be found anywhere from 12-20k 06+ Mitsubishi Eclipse- With decent features, these can be picked up for as low as 16k, both coupe and convertible variants! 04+ Nissan 350z- Get one of these for around 15-18k 02+ Nissan Murano- With low miles, these crossovers run in the higher teens 04-06 Pontiac GTO- The LS1 versions can be picked up for 13k, but LS2's are closer to 19 06-09 Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky- Great roadster for 15-18k 99+ Porsche Boxter- This is an older car, and ones with less than 50k miles can be found under 20k. But hey, it's a Porsche! 06+ VW Passat- a midsize German sedan, for 15k! Hope this list is helpful. I didn't include run of the mill cars like Civics, Accords, and Camrys because you can definatly find these anywhere. I just listed the cars you wouldn't think you could get under $20k with low miles ;) Good luck!

What DLC Island Would You Like To See In TDU2?
killalldude replied to yuhui2010's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Japan would be cool, but it's probably too big. Some of those Mediterranean islands would be nice though. They are so picturesque! -
This is one of those cars that will be made, don't worry about it ;)

An M1 mod was made for WR2...

Okay, so I found some rims on a Russian site (tdu-world.com) a while ago. I didn't post it immediatly because it has some issues and doesn't exactly resemble the SRT rims. The wheel doesn't spin perfectly around when you are driving. Maybe someone can fix it? The pictures make the wheels look grey, but they are really silver. They were made by Maximal for the Porsche Cayenne.

This is a really nice color filter for photomode, but it makes tdu feel like dusk all the time. Nice work though, I like it.

This is my favorite G-Class car mod. It's so nice! Thanks! -
I love the roadster version of this car... Especially in yellow

From skimming through all these posts, it seems as though this would be hard to implement. But it would be cool to tow the damaged collectable cars you find while cruising around.

Yeah I used to put realistic handling on my g class muscle cars but last week I kept getting a message saying something about "game data is inconsistent with something," so I reinstalled and it works fine online. It only happened to the cars that had modified physics. There's an easy way to get around physics online but now I guess Atari figured it out and fixed it.

The crap help I got from Atari and Digitalriver...
killalldude replied to killalldude's topic in Gaming Discussion
Diablo, no I'm not registered at the Atari forums. Mellors, I tried using a credit card at first and got an email saying the order couldn't be completed, so I tried again using paypal and I got that error 30060770 - 0. I never tired again using credit card because typing the information over and over got really annoying. I do agree with you that they probably didn't get a payment, but whenever I try to download the megapack, I always get that error. -
I wonder why everyone hates Dell? They make pretty solid reliable computers that last a while. They don't collect much dust inside the case either. I had a Dell Dimension 4600 that worked great and there was barely any dust in it whenever I opened it. I only got a new computer because that old Pentium 4 didn't perform well enough for my games. I will say that they suck, in fact all major brand computers like HP and Gateway suck, compared to a custom built computers :nanananana:
