[RELEASED] Test Drive Unlimited Platinum - v1.21
Mondodimotori replied to Milli's topic in Tools / Others Mod
Mod that car. I won it with tier 2 mod. But it wasn't easy. I had to put at least 15 attemps before getting a sub 3:20 with minor penalty. A suggestion, if you get more than one crash, reboot. Not only you will get the slowdown from the crash, but also the 20 points penalty, that will give you 2 seconds of penalty at the end. As I said in an earlier comment, this challenge is very luck based. You have to try and re try, untill you get a run with traffic spawning in straights, with the ability to optimize cornering trajectory. It's all about luck. -

I won it with an R32 modded to tier 2 (or 3). It required several attemps, but in the end is very luck based and requires clean drive. Every 10 points of penalty equal to 1 second added to your time. If you push to the max avoiding crash and slowdowns, you can go well under the required time with an E class car. But you need a clean drive to not get to much penalty. I ended it with less than 2 sec. of penalty and reaching the finish line 10 seconds before the set time. As I said, it requires many attemps and lots of luck, 'cause you need a lap where traffic doesn't spawn in key points of your cornering trajectory. And since traffic is random, no one knows how many attemps are required. -

About AI, you mean the extra AI from the last update, right? Because I'm using the basic one and I'm finding it very easy to win races. Maybe is just because I'm using more OP cars than the competition, but I hope to find a bigger challenge with top categories. About the sounds, I don't have mush complaints. Even if I don't know to what extent Milli can edit the mods. Because, in this case, I would keep reporting small inconsistencies and bug that I found in some cars. EXAMPLE: The internal speed gauge on the BMW M3 E46 doesn't work properly, skyroketing over 300 km/h when I'm still ad 170 km/h. -

Tested it. I went to the dealer, selected the car, customized it, and took it out for a test drive. All worked well, except part of the roof, that was pitch black (maybe a panoramic roof?) -

I believe you should edit the .exe in a similar manner the 4GB patch does. Now I want to do some test to see when the drop happens with the 4GB patch (not even sure I will encounter it, since I won all the race I could with the R32, a car that crashed the game). I want to make sure that the .exe goes all the way up to 4GB before droping frames. -

Yup, today I had the opportunity to play for more than 1 and a half hour. Happened again after more than 3 hours of gameplay. I don't know if the .exe saturated the 4 GB limit that the patch included, because I wasn't monitoring it... -

In theory, you should have both patch 1.66A and megapack to install this mod. At least, to me the first delership it worked flawlessy. -

Ok, when I go back home, I'll try to do a test drive with the 308 from the dealership. But first, did you install the mod on a clean version of TDU with both patch 1.66A and Megapack? -

Been using Daemn Tools since 2009, and never got a single malaware on my PC. If in their installer of the free version there was a malaware years ago, that I didn't know, since I used an old Lite version for more than 6 years, and stopped using it when it became not compatible with Windows 10. But the latest free version is clean. And isn't even usefull, since I didn't suggest to use it, but to use the PRO (or ULTRA) version that comes with a clean installer, being a paid software. So, I don't know what misinformation I'm making: The only way to use the fixed TDU image is to use DT Pro or Ultra. Both paid softwares with clean installers. But then, if someone downloads the wrong software that I didn't reccomend (Lite, that is useless), from a third party website, I cannot be held responsible. It's not a debate. If I say "You must use the PRO or ULTRA version of this software", and you tell me that "The LITE version used to come with a malware", we are talking of totally different things. -

In what dealership is located the 308? I'll check if it works for me later in the evening. -

Those are pretty old evidence. And the same I found before, when I checked before replying. All those evidences where adressed by the devs back in 2015, when it started to popping up reports about an adware that installed itself regardless of users preferences. But now, DT Lite doesn't install anything harmfull if you untick everithing. Tryed it myself a few months ago, just when I wanted to play again TDU, and needed an software for mounting disc images, possibly for free. Bust, as I said earlyer, DT Lite is not usefull with the fixed Image of TDU, since doesn't support any kind of advanced mount options, so I uninstalled it. That options are only available in the PRO and the ULTRA version, that comes without any kind of adware. And none other software gives you these kind of advance options, because I tryed every single one of them, before going on DT Ultra. That is not a free software. In the end, if you want to play TDU with a fixed images, you must use DT Pro or DT Ultra. I've tryed everything, and every one of them failed. -

WinCDEmu doen't support advance mount option like SECUROM emulation, SCSI and IDE virtual drives. All things that are essential to use the TDU fixed image. Where did you hear this lie about malware? Only the Lite version has optional adware in the installation process (you just need to untick them). And the Lite version does't have too the advanced mount option necessary for TDU fixed image, so it's totally useless. That's why I suggested the PRO or the ULTRA edition. -

Mondodimotori replied to Milli's topic in Tools / Others Mod
As someone else said, SECUROM is no more supported (and always had problems). If you use the original .exe, you can get it to work with compatibility mode. But, in order to use the modded original .exe without compatibility mode, you have to use a fixed disc image of the game. Then, you mount it on a IDE unit with the PRO or ULTRA version of Daemon Tools, making sure to enable (if available) the securom emulation within DT. I used this method for years, because I didn't want to worn out too much my only copy of the game (and my BR drive died a few months ago, LOL), so that I had to pull out the original DVD only for installation. And I wasn't able to find a flawlessy working fixed .exe. The fixed .exe in this mod works flawlessy, even with 4GB path installed, so now I'm using it, and keeping my original DVD in a safe place. -
[RELEASED] Test Drive Unlimited Platinum - v1.21
Mondodimotori replied to Milli's topic in Tools / Others Mod
Well, I don't want to make big proclaims, but there is a very good possibility that I solved the issue. Today, after work, I did some more test. A 25 minutes run with the GT86, a car that never presented any problem before. And, after 25 minutes of gameplay, the RAM usage of the game was around 400 mb. No problems whatsoever. Then I did a second test. I rebooted the game, and switched to the Skyline R32. The first 10 minutes of gameplay went on smooth, with the RAM usage around 300-400 mb. But then, suddenly, the game started eating RAM. 100 mb every 2 minutes, till it reached around 1 GB of total usage at the 25 minutes mark. And then the FPS tanked. Just like yesterday. The GPu went to 99% of total usage to 20%. Then my brain started to working. What if the executable can't use more than 1 GB of RAM? That would explain the drop, since the lock on RAM usage would bottleneck the GPU, getting it to perform only 20% of its power. So I used the legendary (in the rFactor community, at leat) "4 GB Patch". A patch that modify any executable to work without RAM restrictions. And it worked. The patch did not comprimised the executable, and I was able to play for an hour straight with my R32, even surpassing that 1 GB mark, and then switching to the AE86 Trueno. No problems, no FPS drops, no nothing. And the game even start being less "hungry" for RAM when it surpass the 1 GB mark, assesting itself around 1.2/1.4 GB of total RAM usage. Someone should give me a little medal for all this testing... About the "4 GB Patch", you should be able to find it youself on the net. If not, I ask permission to an administrator to post it in this thread, since it could be usefull to more people, and would increment the amount of testing on it, to see if it actually work flawlessly, or my 1 hr run without problems was just dumb luck. -

The game has a dedicated key to start the car. In the option menu it should be called "play" or "start". Basically, you always need to manually start the car when entering free roam or an event. Go find the option and bind it to a key different from "accelerate". This isn't even a mod related problem, maybe we should keep this thread to just related stuff and problems. And I'm a newby too, I shouldn't be telling you this. -

I also had the problem the first time I visited the tuning shop with the R32, so I initially thought it was caused by it, but then I remembered that I tuned the GT86 almost immediately, and never had a problem. So I'm pretty confident that the problem is related to some cars. How many I don't know, but we will have to wait for @Milli to answer us, since I'm not a modding expert, expecially on TDU. -

I'll investigate it more. For now, I'm about to trying after re-installig the whole mod with the update 1.03. I'll also try to monitor the RAM usage. Try going around in offline mode with a Toyota GT86, I didn't had any problem as long as I used that car. When passing to an E class car, the Skyline, the problem only appeared with it. I started a new game, so I didn't try lots of cars, at least not for the time needed to the bug to present itself (something around 15-20 minutes of gameplay). UPDATE EDIT: Ok, I tried monitoring all the components on my PC while playing with MSI Afterburner. It's not a RAM related problem. When I start the game, I have already 5 GB used out of the 8 I have, and the game crashed around 20-25 minutes after the beginning, always with the Skyline. The drop arrived when 6.2 GB of RAM where used, meaning I still had almost 2 GB free, and the game took only 1 GB to function. What I did notice is the GPU usage, dropping from the 99% of normal gameplay, to even 20% during the drop. Tomorrow I will try the same thing but with the Toyota GT86, that never caused any issue with the game. I will also try some other GPU intensive games, to exclude the possibility of an hardware fault. -

The problem seems to present itself only with some cars. To me, it only occurred (so far) with the Skyline R32. What about you? -

I installed the mod aver a complete copy of TDU, with 1.66 patch and megapack. I still suffer of this problem, for now only when I drive the Skyline R32. If I use my starter car (a Toyota GT86, so another modded car), the problem doesn't present itself. I have 8 GB of ram, and I don't run any RAM heavy application in the background. 8 GB should be more than enough for a 2006 game, but I will try to monitor RAM usage next time, even if it's strange that the drops is sudden, heavy, and unavoidable lead to crashing. PS: If the executable of the game is 32 bit, then it will never use more than 2GB... Maybe I need to try a 4GB patch on it, and check if it still works. EDIT: I've noticed now the 1.03 mod update. I'll try it. -

@Milli #bugReport First of all, thanks. Thanks a lot for this massive work. I found it casually surfing youtube, and saw a video about it. It basically made me start a new game on TDU since 2012, probably. And since I started yesterdaay, I could not stop playing it, because the sheer amount of new content in amazing, and I found again that amazement in exploring the game to find the car of my dreams (I didn't read the car list to not spoil any surprise). So thank you a lot for all this hard work. But now, for the bug report, I'm having a strange issue, apart from the bug at race ending (stuck in the winning screen, but with interior view, not bothering since it happened only in one race (twice, maybe a problem with that race in particular), and it still saved the result). The biggest (and only) serious problem happens while I drive my Skyline R32. The game, after 15-20 minutes of play, suddenly lose frames (It start playing at 2-3 frames per seconds), and became unplayable. I can only manage to quit game, if it does't crash before I reach the "Exit" in the menu. For now, I have tried messing with the HD, SD or OFF in the fx tweak in the launcer, rebooting my pc and playing with another car. The last option seems to work, but I need to play a longer session later in the evening. Of course, this last option is not practical, since I can't drive anymore my beloved Skyline R32. Later I will try the last resort, that is to re-check the torrent file for corruption, re-extract the archive, and replace all the files all over again. I will let you know if anything changes with the last solutions, probably I will edit this post. PS: The first time I encountered this bug, I was in the mod shop with my R32. With the dead frame rate, I also noticed some corrupted textures and models before the game died for good. Since it looks like the game suddenly stop using the dedicated video card, I will try long play sessions in other games. Hopes is not my hardware... Still a potato PC for 2019 standards, but a decent machine a few years back. PPS: I've installed the mod on an original installation of the game, with both official 1.66 patch and megapack. EDIT: I've noticed now the 1.03 update. I'll try it and let you know.
