Atari and Eden are companies, a company makes money, fact of life.
Yes, they have neglected us, but the only reason they show us stuff in the first place is to entice us into buying the game when it eventually comes out.
Even though they probably don't want it to happen, they will gain publicity from this, and from the comments, it seems they are getting good publicity, which is lucky, because equally, they could have had bad publicity from people looking at an unfinished product, and making judgement on the final game from it.
I'm not trying to defend Atari, but from a business perspective there's a lot at stake here, playing to the demands and curiosity of gamers doesn't make money, but showing them a high quality product they will want to buy does.
