  1. Me and some people from work... ... went to Knutstorp raceway in Sweden for a trackday. Had lots of fun. Got to drive loads of nice cars, and I had my Celica do some serious racing as well. I'll post some more pictures, when I get a chance later. For now, here is my having a trip in a swedish built car, and a picture of me after the five laps I got as a passenger.
  2. That's a lot of non-Favre ;) But sure Nige. I'll play :) Picking the game up monday or Tuesday :)
  3. Hmm. Went a little overboard last month. Got Rock Band, Civilization Revolutions, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Crackdown (all for the box) and Civilization 4 Complete edition for the PC. Before that it was GTA IV. As for the future: Madden 09 and Force Unleashed this month, and next month: Fallout 3 and Fable 2.
  4. Seeing as a lot of you like this piece of bling, here's a treat!
  5. I rather like the new line to be honest. They've modernised as well as kept the lines from the old series. This of course can be thought of as a shortcut and lack of imagination, but if you look at the different models, the attention to detail as well as the care with which they have updated the designs without loosing the old version is actually a rather large accomplishment. Well that, and they managed to make a Corvette that doesn't look incessantly tedious and dull. A thing that hasn't been done since 1983. Spiffy!
  6. I'll leave the comments about sensitivity and lack there of to people's imaginations. Andrea Pininfarina was killed while driving his Vespa Scooter. You have anything against those?
  7. mine has flames and stuff
  8. I disagree. Racecars doesn't feel as fast as street cars. Mainly because the tracks on which you race are wide and turns are as well. So while you are travelling at 200 km/h you don't feel it. You can compare it to driving on the highway. How does it feel going 100 mp/h on the highway? Not too shabby. How does it feel doing 60 in a school district?
  9. Check out this site for a lot of oldies, that has been deemed abandonware.
  10. Sometimes I see threads like these, and my age shows. I don't know anything about Pikachu or Power Rangers.... mainly because I was early twenties, when these games were released. I've met some old classics here: Stunt Car Driver was a great game. Leisure Suit Larry also. Driver was great, but there are so many old games that has been left out. So here are a few of my favourites with a link and a short explanation: Car games: Pit Stop. One of the first Formula One games. I only managed to find a link to a picture, and this is one of the later versions. The first one was all green and grey. 4D Racing Man this was great. You could make your very own tracks with jumps, barrels and loops and everything. And the choice of cars... wow. Quarantine Futuristic FPS action, with great graphix, very nicely varied sceneries and the first "sandbox" driving game ever. Taxi-fare straight to hell. With guns! Carmageddon Another not-strictly car game, but man this was beautiful, when it arrived. Graphix and gore, and you needed a monster of a computer to run it. But if you had one, you could multiplay it. Flight-/Space-simulators: Elite has been mentioned, but... wow. That one blew me away. Wing Commander This was like watching a movie, when it came out. The plot was great, the action sequences were aweinspiring. Had me hooked for ages. Star Wars: Tie Fighter They started with Star Wars: X-wing, and then released TF. The latter had better controls, and a more smooth sensation. At the same time, you got to fly special missions for Vader. I've completed this game more times than any other game I've every played. I've completed it 100%. The follow-up XvT and X-Wing Alliance were also great, cause it took the experience to multiplayer. FPS Wolfenstein 3D Killing nazis and facing off against Hitler as the end boss was sweet and it set the bar for every single FPS that has come since this one. And since you all know Doom, I'll swipe that into this one. Rise of the Triads This game improved on the stuff we had already seen. There were a sort of fake 3D going, with vertical movement through lifts and "bridges" across the landscapes. Guns were improved or at least... altered. Oh yeah. And it had "SHROOMS MODE" Strategy: Defender of the Crown Now here is a true oldie. Manage your troops, invade parts of England and destroy castles with your catapult. Sweet. Dune 2: Battle for Arakis The format, which we know today, started with this game. Command & Conquer took the glory, but this is were it all started. Used to play this game A LOT! Starcraft Released in 1998, this RTS is still being played by millions today. Hailed as the best balanced game ever, the sequel is due out this year, or next. And it is the sole reason, I upgraded my PC recently. RPGs: Day of the Tentacle The sequel to Maniac Mansion, and one of the best Lucasarts RPGs ever. Police Quest You get to play detective and solve crimes. What else do you need? Apart from wee better graphics perhaps. Resident Evil WHAT? WHAT IS IT?.... Ahh. The poorly done voiceacting makes a chill run down my spine. This was SO scary when it came out. Pity they made the movies, which are a complete waste of time, and that they took the series in weird direction. Final Fantasy VII Quite possibly the best game ever. And the clearest proof, that graphics and sound has nothing on a great story. And here are a few random ones from my days with Amiga 500 and Commodore 64: Alien Breed You get to kill aliens from a top view. Who cares, that it is an unlicensed product, and that it isn't the "real" aliens. Space Taxi Again with the taxi. Still a fun game. Lazy Jones A computer game about a guy playing computer games.... how avantgarde! North & South I wish I was in Dixie..... Hooray, hooray.... Spy Hunter Another awesome car game. With Guns! I can keep it up: Winter/Summer games, Lemmings, Giana Sisters, Boulder Dash, Maniac Mansion, IK+, Another World, Cannon Fodder, It Came from the Desert and many many more.
  11. I've played through Fable 1 a few times now. Usually I start out trying to be evil, but I can't keep it up. I've watched Fable 2 carefully, as I am looking forward to it immensely. Release is set to October, and I will be playing, so let's see if we can get some coop going by then :)
  12. Guys. It's easy to belittle and make fun of those who doesn't share your world view. Christianity often allows for people to find sanctuary in a world filled with change, terror, danger and daily lives with the problems that follow. Religion is often handed down from parents to children through no means of induction other than a daily life with religious contexts. Families who goes to church, and observe religious holidays. Luckily the majority of those of faith keep it to themselves. The observance of a religion does not automatically require you to "draft" the "non-believers". So in turn we should not repay with ridicule of those of faith. However, the minority who do preach and turn to the "traditional" word of God has chosen to ignore these facts and see it as their job to promote the word of a God, whose grounds of belief were written 2000 years ago i patriarcal society which didn't tolerate the observance of other religions. Among other things. Seeing as these people doesn't respect the beliefs of other religious people, of agnostics or atheists, it would be easy to turn to ridicule and mockery. But I still don't think it's the right way to go about these things. Observe a respectful tone, when approached by those who will attempt to save you. Listen with interest, and let them know, that you respect them for their choices, their beliefs and their way of life. It drives them nuts, when they can't pin you for satanism or worse ;)
  13. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaldyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

    GT5 vs GRID

"Oh dear lord. I is going sideways, when I is driving this here car, which is crap and can't go straight forward. I is going to invent a sport and call it drifting, for everyone else who has a crap car and can't steer it!" Seriously though: I haven't tried GRID, but after seeing that video, it sure looks like I am going to have to :)
  15. Well literal translation goes: If you pasenger, I can smoke you if you are on.... (Spelling errors included) What it means... noone knows.

  16. I finally got a chance to take a look at the replacement box yesterday night. So it would seem that they replaced the innards, as well as the casing. (Not just the front panel) So how do I know this? Well... The note that followed the box, when it was returned, said that it was a faulty DVD-drive (Didn't know these could cause RROD). So I know they replaced the DVD. It is quite silent compared to the old one. Which incidentally is also the case for the box itself. Fans are quieter, the disc doesn't spin like an apache gunship taking off. It's quite a treat. The case had a dent in it from where I dropped the recharger for my camera. Not a big dent, but it was there. Now it isn't anymore. So I am thinking that I got a new one. I have to redo all the settings for TV and users and whatnot. Quite annoying. But hey. At least it is back.
  17. Maybe their techno-masochists and get off on bad rep? Saw a woman perform an act with her mouth upon the physique of a man in a game of uno once. Was weird, but I quickly found out, that he was "preoccupied", so I easily won the game.
  18. UPS guy called me this morning. We agreed they would deliver my box at work, and I just received it now. Apparantly it was a faulty DVD-drive, that caused the RROD-fault. I haven't tested it to see it if it runs, but they replaced the machine completely, because the flippy thing covering the USB-plugs was a bit wonky on my old one, and it isn't on the one, that just got delivered. So exciting to see how it goes, when I plug it in tonight.
  19. Yeah. Got three tries to make the drop off. After the first they leave a note with a number you can call and rearrange. Will have to call monday and tell them to come to where I work They had it from late tuesday afternoon till early thursday, when I got a mail saying it was coming home. Wonder if they fixed or replaced it?
  20. Today the UPS-guy came around. I was at work, but he came around anyways. Then he left a note and buggered off again. So 10 days from departure till arrival. Not too shabby...
  21. Ah yes. 8th win for Tom Kristensen. What a great race. Danes on all podiums. Good times. And even if AM beat Magnussen in the 'Vette, it was still exciting, since they have been racing unopposed for WAY too long.
  22. I am amazed. Well and truly amazed. My Xbox died on friday the 6th. (Don't they always) 10 minutes after the hotline closed. So I tried getting the online form to work, but it refused. Monday I forgot to get the serial number along with me. So I ended up phoning them tuesday the 10th. They sent the shipping thingie after a few hours, and I took it home, packed the thing and had it with UPS out on the 11th. The 14th I received a message, saying that they had received my system at 5 pm. The 16th at 10 am, I received a mail saying that my box was coming home, and it would be shipped on the 17th. So here I am, waiting for my boxie. Last time it was gone from friday till the next tuesday. So if I get it today or tomorrow it will have been faster.
  23. Just saw this one, and it made me laugh so hard.... If that scenario played out in Denmark, the numbers would be quite different. First off, you can't drive till you're 18. The expenses are as follows: Clio 1.2 2002: 8.000 quid. Insurance for 18 year old: Roughly 2.300 quid. Road tax: 300 quid a year. Petrol: 1.20 a litre for Unleaded 95 1.23 for diesel Lessons in DK: 49.5 an hour. (24 minimum required) Theory Test: 53 Driving Test: 59.5. Theory lessons: 300 for the package. You still think England is expensive?
