  1. Hi Baxie ... wasn't on last night as I was catching up on the end of 'Ashes to Ashes' but I'm often on either TDU/PGR4/BP/FM2 so if you catch me online just give me a buzz Most probably going to organise a TDU cruise for the 'usual' suspects for the Sunday 27th April some point 8pm ish as a farewell to TDU for a bit
  2. An island would be best as Randomus says ... means you don't have to use fake barriers to block roads off I'll be happy with Oahu with more roads, better detail, better physical and mode cars, remember there are a lot of roads they didn't model!
  3. BMW are well known for their April Fools in the British Press.
  4. found this cool one this morning ... LEGO HALO! http://i32.tinypic.com/64gr5x.jpg Oh loved the flying pengiuns ... just shows how good the BBC is these days with it's production. Dynamo Keyboard anyone? http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/dynamo-green-keyboard/index.html
  5. I gave up with BTCC years ago ... I remember the good old days of Mondeos vs Lagunas vs 3 Series vs 155 vs Volvo T5 Estate! And I was round my parents and they only have 5 TV Channels!!!!! But I wouldn't have watched it anyway as I was watching the MotoGP in BBC2
  6. sounds like a sensible idea from the FIA ... they definitely needed one as it wouldn't have been too long before something nasty could have happened
  7. whatever exists be it a program or a copy protection someone will always find a way to crack it
  8. yeah who in the UK is on from 9am till midday! I was wondering if MS was worried about some April fools prank / Virus ... especially as your supposed to stop jokes at midday!
  9. Hah ... I've got the best name ... Liquid Anaconda!
  10. Thanks for the correction ... silly American sites forgetting there's a world outside the US!
  11. Magnum P.I. Theme tune ... has been since polyphonic ring tones appeared ... although now it's a proper mp3
  12. Well I think you'll find most (if not all) drivers would have a large bonus built into their contracts if they won both drivers championship and the team won constructors As to it being silly ... well depends on if he's ACTUALLY being given the car ... as part of their contract the McLaren boys drive Mercs and the Ferrari boys drive Ferraris ... I wonder what Alonso drives this year????? I know McLaren have a few cars on display in their 'factory', a few old Formula 1 cars and I know there is a black F1 on display, they could easily have kept an F1-LM just for history sake ... it might be he's just 'lent' the car whenever he wants to play with it ... would be no use in Switzerland anyway! Also you have to remember the relationship between Lewis and Ron/McLaren ... Lewis has been under their wing for a long time
  13. yeah I personally hope Lambo do a LP560-SV and a LP640-SV I'm also curious as to what the Murci and Gallardo 'Familys' will be replaced by ... both vehicles are starting to get old now even with all these 'freshenings'
  14. Just read this ... http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080327084228.shtml My question is does Ron have a spare F1-LM lying around in the garage then? I can't see them 'giving' him one if it's the car officially kept by McLaren (if McLaren have one themselves and it's not part of the 5) ... if not I'm sure the price of the 5 in the world will increase a bit with this news especially if Lewis is top of the drivers table and McLaren top of the constructors towards the end of the season
  15. Well Lambo have stopped making Gallardo Superleggeras Only 172 examples in the world 10 White 34 Grey 37 Black 45 Yellow 46 Orange So are they going to make a super stripped out variant of the Gallardo LP560-4 ? Source: http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/0803_2008_lamborghini_gallardo_superleggera_production_ends/index.html
  16. It could be RWD as I think there was a Q4 (4WD) variant, so it would be 'relatively' simple to change the drivetrain. However FWD to RWD conversions have been done before ... Rover/MG 75 was FWD from what I remember and then they put a Mustang(?) V8 in it and made it RWD as a high performance variant!
  17. I see this is ONCE AGAIN in the news http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7314751.stm Personally as a 34yrd old adult and having had a machine to play my own computer games since I was 11 ( a ZX Spectrum ) there are a few comments I'd like to make. Games have got a lot more graphic over the years in terms of their visual content ... yes you could kill people by a sword but you didn't cut them in half with blood splurting everywhere ... but then the processing/storage/graphics weren't there. In line with this, what is 'acceptable' in terms or violence and language has changed over the years ... films that are now rated 12A (the rating created for Spiderman from what I remember) would have been a 15 when I was a kid, and tv is certainly a lot different in terms of it's contect ... and if you swore at a parent or a friends parent ... well you didn't ... I still don't swear infront of my Dad. Watching violence doesn't make a person violent, however a susceptable person watching violence might ... and kids of a young age often don't understand the different between TV/Film violence and real life, it's up to parents to inform their children about the differences ... but then I never inflicted the violence you get in "Tom and Jerry" cartoons on my pets when I was a kid! And now onto games ... I do agree with using exactly the same rating system as Films, far simpler for people to understand. But again I think it's a fault of the parents to a large extent. Too many times have I been looking round computer game stores trying to work out what to buy next and there has been "little johnny" asking his mum to buy him the latest game because it's brand new and all his mates have it when clearly it says "18" on the cover, and there are pictures on the front and back showing the content of the game and what it's about. It's not as if parents can't be informed if they wanted to ... there's the internet, there's the details on the box, or there's the staff in the shop that could all provide details about what the game is about and is it right for thier child. I think the industry is trying to react as much as it can and I know a lot of computer game stores are equally responsible (as they have to be legally in the UK) with selling age rated games ... surely parents (I'm not one by the way) should stand up and take some responsibility. Yes I am aware that this would mean that a lot of you forum members wouldn't be able to play GTA IV ... but tough ... that's called life ... you can't legally smoke, drink alcohol or drive a car till certain ages ... why should you be able to watch 18 rated films or play 18 rated games? (assuming GTA IV will be an 18)
  18. Found this earlier on Autoblog ... lets hope it's the start of a new series of GTAs http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/26/spy-video-alfa-romeo-159-gta-mule-spotted-at-the-nurburgring/ A V8? Oh and anyone remember this from a while back http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/cars/alfa_romeo/10/brera_gta/0410.html I wonder what happened to it? I'd would have been interested in this ... though I don't think finances would have stretched that far!
  19. Well I knew about this ages ago when it was first mentioned ... For those of you who don't know TATA are a very large company ... a while back they bought a company called CORUS ... previously known as British Steel! Also they're family owned which is refreshing these days As to what happens to JLR I hope it's good news ... to some extent Ford lost their way with Jaguar in trying to make it compete against BMW (the reason for the X-Type, S-Type and Diesel engines!) ... however the plus side is Ford did bucketloads to improve the build quality of both Jaguar and Land Rover. Lets just hope TATA understand the brands and use them properly. Could certainly be interesting as TATA have some great ideas ... just look at the Nano ... a great solution to a problem. Oh and isn't everyone forgetting that they were owned by an American Company ... not many 'truely' British companies left ... apart from the 'cottage industry' ones ... Bristol, Morgan, etc
  20. Best at what? I can think of good and bad points for all 3 companies BMW - great engines shame about the exterior styling Audi - solid cars shame about the blandness (except R8) Merc - good cruisers shame about the build quality Oh I selected Audi ... the only company out the 3 I'm likely to buy from
  21. Yeah I remember the original Poly F1 cars ... from what I remember one was a copy of the old turbo F1 cars ... Oh the days ... shame they didn't copy a 97T I still might wait for the full blown GT5 for getting my PS3
  22. OK I take your point ... but the Holden still isn't beautiful ... if you want modern beautiful cars Alfa Romeo 8C Aston Martin DB9 Maserati Gran Turismo I can't think of much else ... either too many flaws or too fussy a design in most cases ... there's lots of 'nice' cars e.g. Alfa Romeo Brera and Spider and 'yaw dropping cars' e.g. Reventon but they're not Beautiful
  23. Some of you kids have some terrible taste ... most, if not all modern cars I wouldn't call beautiful or even get close to being one of the most beautiful cars ever ... how on earth the Holden/Pontiac thing can be placed here shows people have no taste ... I'll give you the 8C is beautiful ... especially in the Spider form ... the Reventon isn't beautiful ... it's impressive but not beautiful ... new 500 can't count as it's just a copy of the original, Zonda is too fussy in it's design ... as to the Falcon, well it may have been the pinacle of Aussie Muscle ... but you'd have to be blind to call it beautiful! I'll give you 3 BEAUTIFUL cars ... all classics ... 2 from the 60s ... and one a lot more recent DB7 250 GT Berlinetta E-Type Jag
