1. So the car has had a highly annoying metallic rattling from the front end since I got it. I've figured it out now. It goes away when I press the brakes. So... I have ordered; new front brake pads, anti-squeal shims, and spring clips. That should sort it. Also, a few photos of Bad Habit, as she is known. All 572ci of her. Oh yes. Next year they're upgrading to a, urm, 10.7 litre engine (can't remember what it is in ci). It'll be running dual carbs, still normally aspirated. It's just been built over in America and been dynoed (on standard pump petrol) at over 1,000hp!
2. Bump for more progress info! Also, your attitude can also apply to the Civic's suspension. "I really should raise this *clunk* a little bit *clunk* Oh, that? That was just a *clunk* stone *clunk* in the road." I'd never been in the Civic before that day you gave me a lift home from the garage when I dropped off the Audi for its clutch and stuff. It was an eye-opener! Also, I wish I had space for more than one car. I'd totally have another MX-5 again. :(
3. I really should drop in here more often. I only hear stuff through Calster all the time. Back at the beginning of May I had the clutch replaced, a solid flywheel conversion, and the timing belt replaced. A couple of weeks later I also got all 4 tyres replaced and an alignment done. I then also managed to get my own radio properly wired up to the Bose system, so I now have a radio with a USB port, and a 16GB thumb drive full of music playing through a 10-speaker Bose system! :D So yeah, it's going good apart from a mysterious clunk which I suspect is an anti-roll bar droplink. I have the replacement droplinks here, I just lack the motivation to go and do them. Maybe I'll head out to the parents' farm next weekend to get them done. Here are some photos of my recent adventures. I went for a drive up to Tomintoul with my mate and his 320bhp Impreza. No, I didn't keep up, but it was fun anyway! Then I went all the way to Stratford-Upon-Avon to watch some drag racing at the beginning of May. That was 450-odd miles each way! It was fun though, I have a couple of friends who run a 1974 Dodge Challenger that does 9.7 second 1/4 miles. If you ask nicely I might post a couple of photos of it. Anyway, this is what my campsite looked like: Yes, that's an inflatable whale tied to the roof. It's a long story, but it refers to one of my ex girlfriends. :D All I remember from that weekend was lots of booze, barbequed meat and tyre smoke. Then the return journey was fueled by lots of motorway service station coffee.
4. Well I got some touch up paint mixed for it at Halfords. The paint code inside the spare wheel well (what an odd place to put that info) was Y6W, which came up as Java Green, and was listed on their systems as a VW colour instead of being listed under Audi. Hmm. The paint they mixed looks like a perfect match though!
5. *flump* Java Green 1.8T Quattro Sport. Nyaaaaaah! It's fun. :D I bought it on Saturday, have already done over 400 miles in it. I've also ordered some service parts, including a K&N air filter. Mwuhahaha.
6. 1999 Audi A4 1.8 T Quattro Sport. 180bhp of AWD, leather-trimmed, Bose surround-sound waftiness. The colour is apparently Java Green. Calster17 will recognise where I took the photos! I just got the trims at the bottom of the front doors from there earlier this evening, for free!

The 306 Wagon

I bought a stage 1 map from MidnightClub on 306oc at a very reasonable price. Was recommended him by several people on the forums. Just bought a cheap OBD lead and software from ebay and plugged it in with a laptop. Not sure how far I'm going to go with it. At the end of the day it's a cheap workhorse. The stage 1 map is night and day from the standard map though! The map itself is literally just a 512kb .bin file, lol. I did this today as I had it lying about and the filter in there was dead. It's bodge-tastic but works and gives it some bwarp. You can just see the original intake running up underneath the cone filter there, so it's still got a decent supply of cold air.

The 306 Wagon

Well, my next plan is to give the old steel wheels a lick of paint, as they have winter tyres on them. I'm thinking hammerite of some sort... maybe gunmetal grey. No idea when it'll happen though, as I'm on holiday for a week, starting this Saturday. Family are renting a villa near Florence, aaaw yeah!

The 306 Wagon

The exhaust note isn't really all that interesting. There's a tiny, tiny bit of turbo whistle sometimes, but meh... Calster: I don't actually have any photos of it with the replacement wing, whoops! It's not repainted, just another moonstone blue wing I got from Overton.

The 306 Wagon

Well it's about time I posted this. I've only had the car a month or so! So after my old 306 spat out a conrod and I sold the MX-5 (I just never felt quite... right in it. Bit too conspicuous for me), I needed a car. I always liked the look of the 306 estate, and wanted to try the HDi engine instead of the agricultural old XUD in my phase 1 306 I used to have. So I went and bought this for £770. 2001 Y reg 2.0 HDi with 110k miles on the clock. I took these photos after removing the horrible wheel trims and debadging it. I got some new shoes about a week afterwards... Then after about 2 weeks of ownership, I did a stage 1 remap with an OBD cable and a laptop. It now has roughly 120bhp instead of the standard 90bhp. In real-world driving it's about as fast as the MX-5, 20bhp less but a bucketload of torque! This map just alters the injector mapping and not the boost too, so no risk of the conrods going pop like the last one! Hell, people who tune the XUDs to silly levels use HDi conrods because they're stronger! This weekend I did a popular exhaust mod. I converted a centre section into a backbox, because it's freer flowing than the backbox. I needed to replace my centre section anyway, and I also found out I needed to replace the backbox... So, the new mid section went in its proper place and the old one got the end trimmed off to make it into a backbox... Some creative use of an old exhaust hanger and threaded bar later... It exits in an awesome place on the estates. This is because the back end is so long you have to cut it after the kink. I then tidied it up with a bit of chrome trim. :D I also replaced the driver's side wing, which looked like it was repainted by Stevie Wonder... That's how it stands today.
11. Since when were Honda Civics considered sporty? /trollololol
12. Hmm... I should post in here again. 2 weeks ago my old white 306 spat a conrod through the engine block. Ah well, it was on 180k miles and 2 years of that was spent at 24psi of boost! I also managed to sell the MX-5. Yes yes, they're nice cars, but it was drinking petrol like it was going out of fashion. So, I got something sensible... 2001 306 estate 2.0HDi. Oh, it won't stay sensible long. I've already ordered the OBD cable required to give it a remap. Mwuhahahahaaaaa
13. I'm not sure how to get a photo of the 35-odd litres of petrol in my car's fuel tank. That was the last thing I bought.
14. So you managed to find a photo of the other Supra in Team Beard! I know the owners of both the black one I posted, and the one you posted. :D The Volk TE37s were only fitted last summer. The car's running about 400bhp and has a full cage (in purple) and the engine bay is shiny!
15. A Supra on Workmeisters, eh? This belongs to an acquaintance of mine...
16. Oh god, I'm a bit drunk and there's a fake fly on the screen! This is freaking me out! Also, why not just buy an MG in the first place if you want one so bad? I'll tell you my real name for facebook via PM, but I think my security settings are such that people can't add me.
17. Just tell me next time you bunch of wrong-wheel drive hatchback owners do it and I'll spank you!
18. I saw that, yes. Also, you bloody copy cat! I've had mine since September! I love all this talk about modifying suspension for handling. Mine is fine-handling as it is! It's been through Glen Shee several times at perfectly legal speeds, honest. Also, I cannot see the point in lowering my MX-5. It's low enough as it is. I've already got scrapes on the underside of the front bumper!
19. You got Caliber Eclipses too...? NO WAI.

1. Look at this piece of crap I found in Fraserburgh today! :D
2. Got turned down for another job today. Bleh. I've been away a while. Where do I start? Right, I was working for the Scottish Government in the department of agriculture doing some pretty specialist GIS work (geographical information systems) from June until the end of March. It was a temporary contract, and they realised they couldn't keep the temps in the new financial year. Long story short, 6 of us were out the door at the end of March. I've applied for quite a few things since the new year (we got plenty of warning our contracts were ending). Today I had an interview for a warehouse job at a helicopter parts supplier. I was put forward for it by a recruitment agency I'm with, on the strength of my previous warehouse work experience. I was turned down because the job involves being on-call one week out of every four and they were concerned my evening classes in Cisco CCNA would interfere with it. I even explained to them that it's fine if I were to walk out at any time, because it's not lectures, just working in the computer lab at the college with the tutor present if you need help. AAARGH! MORONS! ...aaaaaand breathe. Also, I'm still single and have been for over a year now. It's getting frustrating. At least I have a shiny MX-5 parked outside and my new flatmate who moved in yesterday seems nice.
3. I'll be up for this. My MC name is matt88sco.
4. It's been a while... I'm on xbox live as SupernautBB. I'm in a club already but I'll be up for some races if you want. Be warned, the people I usually race with swear A LOT. :D I also have Horizon but don't play it much.
5. Hmm, been a while. I got this back in August. Since getting it I added a hardtop and changed the wheels. It's a proper UK-spec 1.8 mk2. I still have the old 306 as a winter car, seeing as it costs sod-all to run. :D
