    My French Tank

Would be interested in seeing before/after performance figures (at least -60 times).
  2. The person with the most votes
  3. The fact that they included Bathurst was enough reason for me to preorder the game (after hearing reviewers talk about 'great physics')
  4. ...but not clean floors :p
  5. Some FRAPS shots:
  6. A few of us have this game and a few more are interested in it from what I can gather - so a discussion thread seems like a good idea. Shift 2 is more evolution than revolution, as you might've expected. Pretty much all the tracks from Shift 1 are in Shift 2 (as far as i can remember), as well as new tracks, FIA GT1 season tracks, including multiple layouts. If you've played NFS Undercover, World Online, Shift 1, and/or Hot Pursuit 2010, you'll get VIP rewards (cash, XP, and/or cars). The big topic atm is handling/physics and wheel setup. You can tell when playing that EA stepped back a bit more this time to let SMS do their thing. The first race in your career forces you to use a casual handling mode, so don't use that for first impressions - just get any type of pass (Bronze will do), finish the race afterwards, then head back to the Main Menu - Options to switch back to Elite and make other adjustments. Overall, the physics are better than Shift 1, which in a way felt like you were racing on loose gravel (the way you could take corners at speed and easily slide precisely without loosing that much traction). Shift 2 almost goes too far in the other direction, the front of the car often feels 'airy' (floating). The steering sometimes lags a bit, and if you start to lose control on anything but ideal, smooth road conditions, you'll probably end up facing the wrong way after a big crash. Brakes are also quite sensitive and can really screw up your approach to a corner - so either be super careful (which usually involves braking early and not placing well), or dial down the Brake Sensitivity. Someone's released a mod to deal with the input lag and floaty feeling, which I've tried out tonight and recommend, so grab that from here. Helmet cam :new: annoys me personally, as I've experienced (and much prefer) TrackIR. I'd rather look where I want rather than be glued to the apex of a corner, or rather, the A pillar of my car. You also have noral cockpit view like Shift 1 so that's fine. I'm half expecting a TrackIR mod to be released within weeks. Night racing :new: - Really good. Support for wheels - as far as the menu's go - it all looks good. They don't even bother asking me to map the controls for Gear 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and R as it knows that straight away. I overwite the rest of the controls to make sure everything is to my liking. The one thing that annoys me the most is that you have to choose 'Automatic Clutch' via the Main Menu - Options. It would be much better if you could change this via the Pause menu mid race. Slower cars with H pattern gearboxes are more immersive with the clutch, whereas fast supercars are easier to use with the paddels (where you don't want to have to use the clutch pedal). Career - so far, so good - haven't progressed that far yet (Level 13), but nothing extraordinary to report. You have unlimited Garage spots to purchase all cars multiple times if you want. Wheel settings - after a lot of tweaking and testing - this seems to be as good as I've gotten so far. I'll probably reduce the wheel rotation degrees further, as I tend to understeer due to not turning the wheel enough. Remember to install that handling mod (and backup the files it replaces). I've changed rotation to 360 degrees now, very happy with the handling now. For those who haven't seen it, here's a video I recorded: If you have questions, screenshots, videos, settings, etc - post 'em here. :)
  7. Obviously no-one at Eden is as popular as you t. Who has more than 83 friends anyway?
  8. Shouldn't you be on the other side of the fence? Preferrably in a car  Recognized that corner instantly.
  9. +1 - Nokia are dead
  10. Cool - looking forward to it.
  11. Received the game today from Atari's New York address. (Anyone want the address so they can send, erm.. hate mail?) (just kidding - so don't ask) The postage date was 1 April - so maybe the DVD is blank :cheeky:
  12. You can right-click the video and click 'Copy Video URL at current time' ^Click to see what happens
  13. At least 5 photos worthy of my vote but had to give it to Leadfoot.
  14. Not to go off-topic, but: Midtown Madness 4 Petition
  15. Maybe the answer that he found was that he can't open them? :cheeky:
  16. GT2 demand outweighs supply due to compatibility with all consoles (reviewers like that kinda thing) ;) Essentially besides that and a few other tiny differences (buttons that light up, colour, etc) they are the same wheel I believe.
  17. It's a shame - as Google pulled the PSX Emulator from their AppStore just before the PS phone was released. I would've most likely purchased that emulator when/if I got an Android phone later this year. Weird thing is that they left a less popular PS emulator on (for now) and the N64 emu's are still there.
  18. I'd be interested to know which slot machine the winners sat on, in case a pattern emerged. I've tried different machines on different days in the Beta and RTM, and the machine at the back on the right tends to give out more prizes than all the others, on a few occasions doubling my $5,000 deposit, but I haven't won the car yet.
  19. I got it a while back and played it for about an hour with lots of traffic and spent most of my time stuck at a left-hand-turn (your equivalent of a right-hand-turn in Australia), where you have to cross over a lane. A few of the 'driving mistakes' that it alerted me to didn't make much sense either - possibly some bad programming there. I would've been happy to turn that feature off. It didn't take long to get bored since (1) there's nothing to do, and (2), I already passed my driving test on the first go. If there's an update I'll probably give it another go. I've not played any car "game" that is as close to domestic driving as this simulator - the only problem now being that my real life car is quite fast compared to most others on the road and in this simulator, but that's my own fault. ;) Online Multiplayer might be a bit beyond this team but there is potential to make it more of a game than a training excercise. Midtown Madness 4 perhaps? :p
  20. Just make up some exciting story about why you've got dents and scratches - i.e. tell your friends a bus pulled out into you and almost killed you.... Oh wait, that already happened...
  21. erm, bit of a bump, but apparently it's better to bump rather than start a new thread :p Anyway, here's a Shift 2 Unleashed video I took. Instead of me blabbing on about it here, just read the video description :) YouTube - Shift 2 Unleashed - Golf GTI MK1 at Bathurst
  22. My colleague has the Samsung Galaxy which looks like a great phone - I've now convinced myself to get an Android phone later on this year. [+] Scotty, we need more power! :yessir:
  23. Leadfoot - I must've missed the last page.
  24. Is that the PlayStation one?
