  1. The 360 is the way to go - XBox live just works out of the box. It's partly Eden's fault for using such a complex connection scheme (mix of client-server and peer-to-peer) and partly Thompson's for making routers that lock into to symmetric NAT, and then all the broadband providers who send them out as the default box or even demand that you use them instead of your own :( I've just changed ISP and I now have to use the Thompson box so I wouldn't be surprised if I now have connection problems in TDU as well :(
  2. How does that help the view you get out of your house, or the drive to/from it? Those are the reasons I pick my houses and it seems to tie in with the price - same house in a better location = more expensive.
  3. 3 Magic words: Location, location, location :D
  4. I tried to join today.. your server isn't running the most recent version though, so I couldn't :( But boy, 6 laps of the nordschlthingy! I struggle with 3 laps around valencia at the moment :p
  5. Cool - what was the lens? If I tried a shot like that with my P&S the sky would just be completely washed out white :(
  6. This one is superb, so sharp. What were your photo parameters? (I can't read exifs here, if it has one).
  7. How about Y= You got mail - an in game messaging system.
  8. I've finally got my pad set up for GTR:E halfway decent - at last I can enjoy the game! Still need a bit of tweaking, but it's more or less controllable now. Fantastic game for a quick blast, can really tell the difference between cars and setups - even just going from WTCC 06 to 07 is a noticeable change. Oh and the nurburgring is fantastic! My only complaints so far are that the map is too zoomed in - by the time you see a corner it's too late, and braking seems a bit odd so far - I can't brake anything like as sharply as the AI cars, even with the aids turned on. It could be the AI cars aren't quite right - I don't like the difficulty adjustment as it just seems to kill their top speeds which makes races quite boring.
  9. Actually it seems to be mostly British ISPs that have a thing about it - I gather in the USA they are only just thinking about applying caps and people are in arms about it. I think our internet infrastructure will be more robust in 3 years time, especially if they find some way to filter out even a portion of the illegal content.
  10. I don't believe MS have said anything about it yet so it's all inaccurate rumour at the moment. Things I've heard: -MS are already working on it -MS will announce it towards the end of 2009 -Component finalisation will occur in 2010, possible release 2011 -Might make use of Intel Larrabee -Have wifi and HDMI output -Use a propriatory optical media -More emphasis on downloaded content
  11. Fanboy of what exactly? I'm a PC gamer. Crysis was the nail in the coffin - it didn't sell well enough to justify making again. Farcry 2 will sell many times more on the console than the PC. So what if you can make a game look better on the PC - if you don't make your money back on it then it's dead business. What do you mean by fastest growing exactly? Your 'highend gaming' doesn't make enough money - 'highend' PC players pirate more than they buy. Can you still call something a noob game if it's 10x more popular than your favourite games, or is it just pointless elitism?
  12. Razor is right - PC Gaming *as we best know it* is dying. Developers get more money for doing console games, publishers make more money selling console games, and they cost less to make in terms of only having one or two hardware variations which you can test and optimise for much better. OK the hardware in a console might be a few generations behind the PC, but when the hardware level is fixed you can really push the limits knowing that if it works on one console it'll work on all of them. PC gaming as a genre isn't dead - it'll move to casual games, games that run on low-spec computers, and subscription based online games. But the single player AAA game exlcusively for the PC is practically a dodo.
  13. It's better than that - just get in the way of a Ferrari (even if you're fighting for position) and you get a penalty - a la Bourdais. Clearly everyone should just park the car on the side of the road and let the Ferraris past before getting on with the race.
  14. That's what I'd heard as well nodz.
  15. The 7:29 time was set by a Japanese stock car and tyres. Why are they surprised that a US stock car (which will have more stringent emissions therefore more restrictive CAT and/or less power and possibly more economic tyres) is slower?
  16. You're assuming that people only play TDU for the racing. That's not the case - trade is an important part of TDU and it's ruined by this cheat.
  17. Nice!
  18. Why use logos at all? Unless you're advertising your business (which you don't seem to be, as looking up D Anderson photography gives several professional photographers) they just get in the way. You already own the copyright of images if you post them.
  19. A *really* old road (Roman, Derbyshire - it goes around the top of the ridge overlooking the Amber Valley). -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) --
  20. So it is a cheat. Well, as I've said, I think it's a shame that anyone would want to make tools available that could kill someone elses enjoyment of an aspect of the game. Mods should be about changing your own game experience without affecting anyone elses unless they've chosen to join in as well. TDU-C had been a place I was recommending to find such mods, but if it's going to be a place that hosts cheats as well I'm going to stop doing that.
  21. So you can't use it to cheat?
  22. This hack is a great way to kill online trade for those of us who don't like to cheat or breach EULA :(
  23. Spider snacking.. -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) --
  24. Eh? I'm a big Kimi fan (driving wise anyway) and I was gutted when he crashed out. But this hasn't got anything to do with Kimi - he hasn't been given any more points as a result of this or anything. If you're a Kimi fan then you should also be against this decision, because it means Massa's even further ahead of him and Ferrari are more likely to back Massa now.
