About This File

This mod will make  opponent AI a bit faster and smoother.  Use exe data shared by tasos007007 and more importantly new AIBotPers.xml and optimized path in AIConfig.xml. The data of AIConfig.xml is tweaked for hravy car, to make it less likely to go off track.

4 files must be replaced / modified in order this mod to work properly. FX.ini, TestDriveUnlimited.exe, AIConfig.xml and AIBotPers.xml.  

 

AI is especially fast in:
- Last Man Standing, you may not win with Ferrari 575M

bug = traffic is somehow messed up. seems to be faster too.

 

The AI is still rather conservative, mainly to allow as many cars as possible to stay on the track.

this is really challenging this time. when i put OpponentDifficulty = 2.5 at FX.ini, the enemies are more even nightmare to beat them....

great job. for smooth cornering you can set OPPONENTDIFFICULTY = 2.75 and copy paste the following code [open with hex editor]  to tdu.exe

thanks. I now use difficulty 2.2 in combination with aiconfig / aibot. fast car can lap never ending loop 6:15. I will post the update after I done all the AI bot tuning from class A to G

okay after messing around a bit more and putting the difficulty on 2.48 the races are very enjoyable and difficult, especially for class A. Even with high end cars you can still have a difficult time. Tested it with class B and C and the AI is fast but unfortunately it really depends on the individual cars because they run off the road.

Edit: If you can lower the turning speed or cornering speed (if they are the same thing) a bit the AI will be more consistent. I notice that sometimes they take corners a little too fast and as a result run off the road or lose speed, this happens mostly in Class B-G, it happens in Class A too but not as much. Sometimes the ai don't brake at all and that results in their demise. I would fix it myself but the aiconfig is super unreadable. If the turning speed or cornering speed can be lowered a bit the AI would be faster and harder to beat. I am at 2.50 difficulty and it's frustrating when a car is giving you a challenge but then loses speed because it's taking the corners too fast.

If you can still beat the AI, especially in corner, then the AI may not be optimal enough. use the original exe file if you use difficulty above 2. 

my aiconfig also only for difficulty 1.75.  will work incorrectly with difficulty that high.

 

it is rare for a car able to lap correctly with difficulty 2.5. 2.2 is already fast enough if all variable is correct. 6:02 never ending loop with fully upgraded senna

keep in mind that ai top speed has cap. 360 km/h and stock car top speed

 

I think I will release the faster AI version for specific class.

 

I think the best way is to replace car that go offroad with the one can be normal.  it is in bots in TDUF.

we can also change aiconfig, increase braking_dist_c1 for car that go too fast before corner, reduce turning_speed_c1 for car that go too fast in long corner. The problem is, the entry is limited. TDU will ignore the setting if too many car listed. maybe arounc 300. 

you have to use tdudec to decode the file to change it, and encode to use it. There are many thing that can make TDU ignore the file. one of them is end of file must be ended with 00 hex.

to check if the file properly loaded, check 01440A10 when the game loaded to hardcore selection menu, which should be the car id of the first car in the list.
