The Mighty G25 Shifter Issue

So erm yeah, my shifter got broken today(AGAIN!) and I thought this might be a common problem , I have solved it and I'm just telling you because you don't have to turn it back to logitech service and wait for years to return it's actually very easy to fix.

The problem is when you try to move the shifter to reverse gear position it doesn't recognize it and thinks of it as the 6th gear. There are 2 possible factors here.

1-Mechanical

There are 2 slots on each side of the shifter, when you push the gear knob down it moves into that slot very simple progress, however if the shifter is damaged the slots could prolapse . Although you should be able to notice this while changing gears, I don't know how you can fix this at home :(

2-Wiring

This is very likely to be your problem .

Now this is what it's like under your gear unit. The PCB unit (Green) is moving according to your gear changes and it's connected to wires. The reverse gear wire is the orange one and it is more likely to come off. Now there are many break away points on PCB unit so you have to use logic and think where the wire was connected before it came off. Or more importantly if it's connected and still not working you have to bypass it. Find a similar sized PCB wire , between poles there are 2 metal bits, connect the one on below to the metal bit on the right side (square), If the yellow wire doesn't work , that means none of your gears are working do exactly the opposite thing , connect the one in above to circle one . BTW ignore the picture that's my first try so :P you should do that if the yellow wire comes off

Job done :p .I hope this will be helpful
