1. React's current market lead comes from being out earlier then its competitors, and support for native, but with release of flutter and vue native etc, things will change, Angular and vue use typescript which is supported by Microsoft, which is now becoming more main stream, the future of web application is moving to PWA, which is introduced by Google, I believe angular will be first to support it, Facebook's properties are very much connected, say your personal account gets banned you lose access to your page, your business IG, your API etc, I am an investor, facebook, the company behind react, its revenue consist of 99% ad, with push of privacy law and ad block and the company struggle to diversify out of APPs, the level of support for the project might get affected, i know it is open source project but still...
2.
tduck banners or game banners? What size (resolution)? Current assets include contributions from @Milli
both, whichever looks cool, it will be random rotating, I don't have any size specification tho, I can always photoshop it later @Milli so I can come to you for new graphic asset? I suck at design
3. Asking you guys cuz you know more about what people in this community like than I do, I need some game graphic / banner images for the header of new forum design (which is rectangular shape) you can post it here
4. Might not even be practical, each member and posts etc are stored in database with an incremental ID, when you try to merge two of them, symlink between one set of ID might be broken to another set of ID, but still I'd like to be transparent about everything and keep you guys updated so there is no surprise might still use the tduck facebook since some people follow it, first I need to find writers for the blog, will see
5. user accounts (tho no-one is active anymore), blog post, forum posts, pictures everything here will stay the same, only difference is you got few old posts and I am not sure how much hassle needs to be done for merger to happen I still have access to tduck facebook page tho, the page got disabled is my Anime fan page
6. I post pretty regularly and stay updated with friends for both my personal account and page that has 35k followers, Both got permanent ban due to copy right infringement on something I posted to the page many months or year ago. Sent repeal request but never heard back. This has dramatically shift my strategy, I plan to drop Facebook for both personal things and sites, and I am thinking about abandoning my other main website project because I already spent so much resources in building user base (perhaps a merge to here?), on the other end, I plan to not use Facebook API unless necessary, drop React JS and native in favor of Angular / Vue JS. Despite this drama all the sudden, I was surprisingly calm, this again tells you what you post on Facebook does not belong to you. What do you guys think.
7. you might ask: but I don't see anything different? This phrase is geared toward Server, DNS, SSL changes that's right, this site is now running on my own built private server, you should see speed improvements and please don't forget to report any bug you might encounter Phrase two would be converting forum system and bridging blog, that's why some downtime are expected (and I will try to keep it minimal), the maintenance is currently scheduled for sometime between Sometime in August (subject to change) this is a quick update, this post is subject to change, please come back and check updates side note: this site's database is humongous
8. thanks for the kind word @Tadpole new server is rebuilt, currently making sure few things work for those of you want to know the technical details, they were SSL, php config, multiple fpm pools, SMTP, apache to nginx, wordpress and forum system compatibility etc
9. Played previous battlefields games before, probably will play the new one
10. Maybe I should use weekend to actually take a break, been working on so many side projects outside of my job and just now one command line from unfamiliar software wiped out my entire server that I have been building in the past few weekends (and yes we will move there as well) and I was dumb enough and too tired to forget backup
11. me still (barely)alive, I want to work on the websites but can't find time
12. full time job + operate three websites + fan pages + part time web development for clients = i think im gonna die

13. but but Riza is suppose to be a helpful assistant :woot:
14. happy 3k post! I am a pay to win player so I start with 20k+ post :poto:
15. we can potentially build a game together (I am a programmer)
16. correct, and my plan list will slowly be implemented, because I have a full-time job and other websites to take care, but after the transition to new system I want to take in new global moderators to help out some of new stuff (you're invited *wink *wink)
17.
Hey all, I have been taking time out to explore new avenues and also enjoying the recent bout of decent weather that's been here the last few days. And I, like many of you, was surprised to hear that the :duck: again has a new owner. However, I don't think it has been in better hands! From what @Diablo has told me and the direct approach to the members of the community itself through this topic, I feel like, even though it's cliché to say, that the duck can really fly under their direction. Hearing that they themselves have a community that has been going on a while and also that they have proper development credentials really does bode well in many areas. As let's face it, that was an area I always scraped by in. The site and forum did use to play nice together, with a working SSO between the previous board software and WordPress but again it was my lack of writing worth that made that start to fall by the wayside. We did have good people who contributed a piece here and there but again the drive in them was lost and was left to me, and I hate that I couldn't do it, in fact, I found it a real struggle. And it was this that led me to upgrading to Xenforo as the benefits to the community of that outweighed the negatives for me. Even though I had to mad scientist together something that made WordPress recognise the visitor as a member and at what level. I really live by trial and error! A chatbox is a cool thing to have on a community but when people start to take it for granted and use it in ways it isn't meant to be then it becomes troublesome. Part of the reason for passing on turboduck for me was for someone to come in with no sense of loyalty or emotional attachment, and turn things around in this area. I really like the changes and improvements that are planned and hope that I can, in time, get involved more too.
I am interested to hear what made you switch to xenforo, vs others like IPB that you have probably came across when doing research. overall, I think you did a very good job of keeping the community alive in the age of dying forums (in my opinion they will still live, just in a different form now), so you should be proud of yourself.
18. By mod pool you mean allow others to upload lost mod and credit them in the download section? I too think download session should open other game mods as well. but I am not sure which one works best so I would like everyone's opinion, I think option 2 is the way to go. 1) option 1 Download (this would be issue for lesser known games, and maintenance problem for future games) --game1 ----mod type1 ----mod type2 ----mod type3 --game2 ----mod type1 ----mod type2 ----mod type3 --game3 ----mod type1 ----mod type2 ----mod type3 or 2) option 2 Download (where each game will differentiate by download title and tags) --mod type1 --mod type2 --mod type3
19. :hmmm: if you really want a group live chat thing I can put one up
20. ;) the real answer here is this place won't die
21. At core, the news and forum are two pieces of different software, which they don't talk to each other, I am not surprised if many of you already acknowledge these issues but lack the development skill or time to bring it to reality, which is what I can bring to the table.
22. discord as well but I'd say real killer is social media, forum (or bulletin board) exist since the beginning of internet, in order for us to survive, I think we need to evolve and adapt to new technology.
