Fuel: anybody with insite or opinions?
madpioneer replied to madpioneer's topic in Gaming Discussion
Yes thats true but then you limit yourself in a great selection of controllers and steering wheels that are PC & game compatible. Not to mention the different types of feedbacks from those wheels. Then theres the graphics that can sometimes rival consoles. With PC you have the choice to upgrade but not with consoles. The ability to explore and mod the files in PC games. For example Richard Burns Rally, I have done the H-shifter plug in along with analog gauges on screen, particle & engine sound upgrades, all virtually impossible with a console version. The downside-many games that are on console are never available for PC, then again some of those games you would never want on PC anyway, but some you really wish they were.:crying: I was a console gamer for many years but a friend of mine showing COD4 on his PC really got me hooked. Then I landed a good deal on a descent PC and have never looked back. I do plan to get a 360 for my son when he visits but for me PC is where its at until it just gets abandoned, which I don't think will happen just yet. Pro & con for both console & PC. Being a late comer to the PC side I am really enjoying my new/old discovery! -

I read already that the frame rate chugs when in a big event from the demos played at shows. So not sure my system will handle it either. I hope Dirt2 will run for me as Dirt did not. Games are getting so system demanding all the time, I am going to have to seriously look into getting a newer updated PC. -

Thanx SLRRR! Looks interesting, but at the moment I think Dirt2 maybe better overall. Fuel kinda looks like Flatout Ultimate Carnage offroading style? Of course we won't really know until they are released or possibly demo versions. -
Just recently saw the blogs, news of Fuel the game coming soon middle of this year from Codemaster. Might be old news to you but this one slipped under the radar for me. 5,000 miles of road and area to drive, race. I have seen the screen shots and all the little known details anyone here with some inside info or thoughts?

Thanx for the welcomes and the heads up on the PC specs SLRRR

Yep, Thanx Badned and everyone else involved in these leaks/updates! Going to be interesting to see the final outcome. Don't mind the buggies so much as I hope they don't stray to far from the formula that is the game today. Like Burnout where they took out the crash segment in part of the series. The crashing is what the game was all about in the beginning. So I am just hoping that Atari can add elements but don't take away what made the game awesome to begin with. Maybe Dirt2 is going to have to tie me over unless TDU2 is released around the sametime? I too see the Far Cry scenary resemblance also in those rendered images.

I have been around a little over a month here but never did a formal introduction, so here it goes. 45 years old and plays video games like no ones business. I have always been behind the times as far as electronics, computers, gaming. I tend to wait a few years and get things when prices are cheaper. About two years ago got a smokin' deal on an older PC. Got into PC games and TDU was the first on that new 2 me PC. The PS2 version of TDU was/is pathetic and I saw a video of someone driving a GT500 on YouTube. I could not believe the graphic quality so I got myself a PC copy of the game. My PC was able to run it almost full blown. Since then I have upgraded the PC with a GTX 280 graphics card, 3.6Ghz CPU, 1TB HDD, 24" LG LCD 2ms monitor, Pioneer mini sound system with a Yamaha subwoofer, Logitech G25 wheel, and a Wingman Extreme flight stick. Games I currently have loaded and some I play more than others: Test Drive Unlimited NFS-UG2 NFS-Most Wanted-Black Edition NFS-Pro-Street NFS-Carbon-Special Collectors Edition NFS-Undercover GT-Legends GT2 Race 07 GTR-Evolution Richard Burns Rally Toca-3 Xpand Rally Xtreme Rally Flatout Flatout-Ultimate Carnage Burnout Paradise GRID Crysis Crysis-Warhead COD4-Modern Warfare COD5-World at War Medal Of Honor-Airborne Splinter Cell-Choas Theory Far Cry Far Cry2 Mercenaries2 T34-Tank game Anxiously awaiting TDU2 and the new Dirt2! I have been a musician, guitar-bass player and singer since I was 13. Done the usual cover bands in the 80's and have recorded my own original material since day one. Although I have not recorded new material in many years. I also collect older Hi-Fi stereo gear from the 70's & 80's. I have amassed a huge PIONEER collection with three complete systems at the moment. I am single and have my own home and can play games and jam my music loud without complaints from others. I owned a 1985 L98 Corvette for 13 years, and before that had owned several Z28 Camaros including a 79', 81' and 84'. I have always been into cars, sport & exotic alike. My favorite car of all time is the Lamborghini Countach, just about any model but I prefer the 80's style. Doubt I will have alot in common with the younger crowd here, but I really appreciate the hard work done here by modders trying to improve the game. It has defintely help elevate my game play and interst in TDU. So there you have it in a nutshell, hope I am not known as the 'Old Guy' round these parts!

This is really going to help. I just bought the Coupe already had the SR10. Added another recent sound mod thats alright but still lacks some volume and punch. I'll give this one a go tonight as I have never driven the SR10 more than 20 miles due to the poor sound.

*UPDATED* Muscle V8 Sound Pack (GT500 fixed)
madpioneer replied to Hari Vatanan's topic in Car Customization Mods
Sendspace does some strange things to the sound samples mostly at the startup and off idle then it tends to smoothout somewhat after that. The only real way to test these sounds are in the game. So thats what I will be doing tonight! -
I tryed this mod out last night and although its good I felt the high end revs were not quite there. So I replaced firebird onhigh.wav with the same from another TRANS AM recent sound mod and it seems to get the higher rev sounds it deserves. Even tho the Firebird tops out at 4500/5000 rpm's. The downside with my replacing the wav is the slight loss of the bass when the car hits the high end revs, but not unlike the radical mod I have on my Mustang GTR Concept. It too is bass heavy and loses some of it on the high end, but not unlike a real car. So it fits better now IMO. If interested I used version 2. Don't take this as critisism or complaint, I really appreciate your work on these sound mods and keep it up. I am just happy to customize it to my liking. Its because of your efforts I can customize like this. I have dome a similar trade out on the sound mods for my GTO & Z06 sounds by changing the idle.wav's with a old school muscle car sound. Game is starting to sound really good now!
-
Great! at this rate I have installed mods on over 3/4 of the cars in the game. Its finally starting to come together, thanx to modders! If this keeps up it might be possible to have the entire car sounds re-mapped within a month or two. Will try these out tonight, from what I heard I am leanin toward #2. Keep em comin'! V12's? 512,575,612 maybe.....:D

Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box (for PC)
madpioneer replied to CobraDBlade's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Forgot to add, the graphics are really incredible on PC. I am able to run it full blown and it looks fantastic. I hope the game play is just as good once you advance to better & faster rides. Great draw distance unlike the PS2 previous series which was hard to see oncoming cars in the distance. Not sure how nice the demo looked? Like I said I really need some more game time on this one if I can just pry myself away from swapping mod sounds on TDU... -
Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box (for PC)
madpioneer replied to CobraDBlade's topic in Driving & Racing Games
I just got it. Only had time to setup controls and run one takedown event. Controls can be re-mapped. Got things sorted out for my G25 wheel & pedals. Game recognized keyboard and G25 but there are limitations to mapping the G25. I am sure it would see a controller if you use one, but not sure. Some of the problems and dissapoinments are as follows. Unable to run pedals as reported individual axis, so you have to hold space bar on keyboard and hold down gas pedal to spin wheels to enter a race. No way to go with manual shifting? Only automatic. Only two views I have discovered thus far behind car and bumper...:sulk: thats it so far, need some more game time. -
Might be worthy will try it tonight! Now if we just had some like this for the 69 & 71 Vettes..woohooo!

I have been avoiding these requests for awhile as I see you modders are usually bombarded already but I broke down and here they are. I have tryed myself but not having any good sound software I have failed miserably. Looking for slightly or even massive over the top American V8 sounds for Chevy Corvettes in the game both older classics and the C6 coupe and Z06. Also a good one for the Saleen conversion Mustang GT's too, loud raunchy is the name of the game here folks. Wanting sounds that represent possibly after market headers and exhaust. Loud raspy, grunty, loud with bass on the bonnet and cabin views. Not looking for total realism here more over the top type sounds. Like the current 'Loud Pipes' mod or the new one for 'Eleanor'. 'Eleanor' sound mod is currently on my Saleen conversion Mustang GT's cuz not satisfied with other Ford V8 mods yet. And somebody please at least make the current Saleen S7TT mod louder! Z06 has a mod sound but is still not quit there, and moved my original Z06 sound over to the C6 coupe and conv. respectively due to my dissapointments. I took the recent over the top GTO sound and applied it to the Mustang GTR concept as it seem to fit better seeing as it represents a full on track racer. The over blown slightly distorted grunty sound makes it sound like it looks, so that is used up. I have collected all the V8 mod sounds I can find here and throughout the web, but there all used up at the moment and the current 69 and 71 Vette sounds are not very loud or what I am really looking for. And last but not least a nice more realistic but louder V12 sound for the Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR, the 612 and the 575. Thanx in advance! If no one has time and does not want to undertake these no problem but they would really be appreciated! the MADMAN

Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is better than a G25 !
madpioneer replied to alastair78's topic in Driving & Racing Games
The fact that TDU supports the H-shifter is amazing. I was playing the game with auto transmission before with my Ferrari wheel, but getting a G25 was the best investment I have made so far. Running sequential mode shifting in TDU, GRID and Richard Burns Rally slowed me down. After getting the H-shifter plug-in for Richard Burns and using H-shifting in TDU, GRID I have improved my times and driving ten fold. In sequential mode it takes to long to downshift to just the right gear depending on your driving and if your wheels are spinning. The fact that you can engage the exact gear you need and the working clutch in most games are the selling points for me with the G25 and I strongly considered the GT because of the price difference. But in the end the G25 won out. Even Need For Speed Most Wanted along with Carbon and Undercover support the H-shifter with the G25 makes immersion in these games better even though some might say those games suck alltogether. I read many websites, reviews before I decided on a G25. Too each his own, this is not to say I am right and your not, just some of my personal opinion on the G25. I cannot really comment on the GT as I have never owned one. I am glad you are happy with the GT. Thats what it really comes down to. How you personally like things the way you want to enjoy games, regardless of what others say or feel. Now go play! -
I plugged this mod in last night and I like it very much! Although the cops are never around when you need them, right? I was able to get up close to a couple of cops that collided :confused:at an intersection, so I slowly crept up to them as they just sat there motionless only lights flashing on one car and was able to hear the sirens go thru thier entire cycle. Another touch that makes this game still worthy of repeat playback.:excited: Thanx + rep Very well done indeed!
-
Sounds like it may be a winner. Will try it tonight. THANX! MADMARK
-
and I thought I was the only one doing that! My coworkers keep asking me what I am watching-listening too....
-
You may not like the R8 but as for myself I plan on applying that sound to a V8 car in the game. Experimenting to see where it fits best as it is a good muscle sound that could fit either a modern 8 or old school as well. Just my $.02 cents.

The screenshot is not GRID IMO, it looks legit possibly. Still don't own undercover after reading some dissapointing reviews about it. I do have Most Wanted black edition,Carbon, Pro Street, & UG2 all for PC. MW is the favored one. Not sure I'll get Undercover, maybe used? GRID weighs in as my favorite over any NFS game right now. The fact that Dirt2 is also coming out in the autumn is going to give them som comp. Dirt2 promises to outdo GRID? So its a wait and see game right now. Doubt NFS will ever reign as it once did but I could be wrong!

YES! Me wants them....
