the crew Discussion thread for The Crew Beta players
MadManCK replied to Ryzza5's topic in Driving & Racing Games
We had a blast today on the beach, when Ryzza and I teamed up to take out a bogey. That was fun. I recorded it. But NDA prevents me from uploading. :susp:  -
the crew The Crew: Car List - [UP29: Mar 1st 2016]
MadManCK replied to CarMadMike's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Only thing i really do not like is 0-Day DLC. That always feels like a rip-off. For the rest is DLC a good way to get more content, gameplay, missions, locations even. Can be cool. I know that for The Crew the extended developing time has been used, not only to polish the game, but also to get more licenses (Ferrari is one of them) and prepare some DLC as well. It is a good way to get things going after the game has been released. The Crew is also unique in the way the game world can be updated from the studio. Some patches and updates can be applied directly at the studio. Another point of concern has been the introduction of micro transactions. Something you usually see with free-to-play games. You will have to buy the better gear or car to be able to win. In The Crew there is no pay-to-win. You can unlock more cars at your own level faster. I see these Micro transactions as a kind of cheatcodes. But this time they are provided by the developers. For a price. For the impatient or players with little time. A project like this, that will be 7 years under way at the time of release, is expensive. And IMO it is not a game you play for just a few weeks. If they continue to upgrade the game, release cool new DLC, i think it is a good thing. It will keep the game in top condition and the players happy for a long time. So DLC can be a good thing for The Crew  -

Yes. And with the help of UbiSoft they have teamed up with Reflections and a couple of other developers to finish the game for release. Ubi has a bigger role than just as publisher. -

There is a buggy in the game, yes And not all cars can be tuned in every spec. Part of the reason why there are not more cars in the game so far, is that they have to be modeled for each spec as well. Including all tuning parts and customizing options. And with factory approval for each step. As each car takes about 6 months average to complete, you can imagine why it is more about quality than quantity. And this is also typically a part of the game that can be extended with future DLC. -
They have been replaced and re-arranged to make way for the TDU2-UP addon cars. Some dealerships had dupes. Not any more. :D

Haha, nope it would be A1 for sure ;) When it comes to new cars for the V05 B1: Audi Sport Quattro S1 Lancia Delta S4 C1: Jaguar XJ220 Mercedes CLK-GTR McLaren F1 (can be A1 as well) like this one from StarGT i found :D And maybe some new, more recent cars, like the BMW i8, Koenigsegg Agera R or LaFerrari. For a bike i would really like a Chopper, but i don't know if there are any models available for that. Plenty of choices, so little time.:cheeky:

Haha, it takes rocket science to explain that HC mode, lol  Hardcore in The Crew is completely different from TDU1 HC mode. It is more the real drivers setup for The Crew. With a refined handling model that will be a lot better than TDU1. Including advanced tire models and various working differentials, based on specs.
-
I really like StarGT work and Mods, especially on the TDU2-UP, but the hassle to get a download going on those "Russian" sites is really annoying sometimes. I also ended up one time with a "browser lock" that could only be "removed" if i would pay a certain police force, with links to a Russian site. Not to mention the countless virus alerts and ads, sigh... Fortunately for me StarGT was kind enough to provide me with direct links a few times, but it would be a lot better if the files become available in a more accessible manner. So thanks to StarGT for making the files available in a different way. Appreciated.

Haha:D He has a G27 there. Even a Fanatec Club Sport Wheel was there during my visit at the studio. Knowing that wheel fanatic Sebastien is working on the setup will make wheel users want this game even more  PS He also takes care of other devices, like TrackIR.

Lol:D To start with, i use 8x AF, 8x CSAA and FXAA, everything on max quality, and adaptive Vsync. It will run at 60fps steady anyway here (GTX660ti). I prefer a constant fps as that gives the best driving performance and predictable gameplay. You can also use FXAA as that will give little performance drop (if there is any).
-
Lol, maybe a bit more info would be helpful. (+1 on franks comment) But to start, you can go offline and see if your FPS is also only 20. It probably is not. So you can do a few things that can improve your fps while playing online. 1. Turn off Voip. 2. Make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed 3. Don't use max terrain setting but one lower. 4. If you have an Nvidia card, you can make a custom profile in the settings that will make your game look twice as good without performance loss. 5. Check you firewall setting. 6. Check your controller/wheel drivers. reinstall if needed. And basically any driver or windows update since you played last time can be of influence on the performance of the game. Including new programs. PS I don't use crystal balls anymore. I switched back to ancient oil lamps.

Raid Spec is seriously hard to drive. They spin out very quickly, where Dirt spec gives you a lot more control. I prefer street spec as those give the sharpest response to steering input. But for all-round fun the Dirt Spec is probably the best. Circuit spec is insane on the normal roads. You really need a flat surface for those. Perf spec is really good for High Way runs And if you want to climb a mountain, grab Raid, as that gives most freedom to go where you want. You can change specs on the fly with the mobile phone app. -
Absolutely stunning difference. We need a real time light room in TDU2, lol  Nice job:D

the crew Route 909 - Live Stream Videos | Races / Finals / Free roam
MadManCK replied to Ryzza5's topic in Driving & Racing Games
The number of modifications shown during the Route909 were limited as the game level cap was set to 10. So for cars, parts and customizing not everything was available. Still some cool designs. And a nice competition it was. Probably one of the best ways to show a game to a wide audience IMO. With some very good Crew battles and a lot of extra info from the devs and not to forget the Ivory Tower free roaming team. -
the crew The Crew OFFICIAL TDUCk Club Sign-Up Thread Thing
MadManCK replied to Paladin Skylark's topic in Driving & Racing Games
And than there are the different factions as well. Good part about just 4 people is that is is easy to form a Crew. But for cruises and other events it would be nice to extend the number of players to 12 for example. I don't know if it is possible to "lock" 8 players for example. But with P2P connections.... You can invite random crew members as well BTW. Tried that. -
You can make the Police (force) appear at the UCD OAHU by buying all A4 cars that Jude (guy with the brace) has to offer. In the end the Police will show. Only cars you do not already have are shown at the UCD. When you own all cars it will cycle normally again. Happy Hunting :D

the crew June 10, 11: Route 909 Semi Finals and BETA Key Giveaways
MadManCK replied to Ryzza5's topic in Driving & Racing Games
I think you guys at DSRack will get keys for the full game. Beta keys for contenders will probably be handed out. But that is up to Ivory Tower. It makes sense to me if they do :D As the prizes will be distributed to the gaming centers, it is up to the owners how to proceed. After all they facilitated The Crew Battles and the Rest of The Route909 event. Brings some nice exposure as well. Nicklas told that you have 120 gaming stations over there. That is huge. Also that he is basically running the show over there. Maybe he should be the mediator for the prize distribution. Anyway big congrats on your victory. And i'm looking forward cruising with you guys again. -

Charlie was very informative, but also highly skilled in dodging bullets. I think they modeled the pedestrian escape moves from watching him :D -
the crew June 10, 11: Route 909 Semi Finals and BETA Key Giveaways
MadManCK replied to Ryzza5's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Nicklas has shown that true RPG tactics can be very useful in The Crew. Very smart organizer as well. There were some angry twitter complainers about him being too biased, but what would you expect, hahaha xD I really hope the owner of DSrack will give the prizes to those who deserve them. The Gamescon tickets will be auto for the players (if i understood correctly). So maybe a little in-house crew battle has to be done, lol -
the crew The Crew: Car List - [UP29: Mar 1st 2016]
MadManCK replied to CarMadMike's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Hahaha. Working with Alain was actually big fun. And he has been a real mechanic BTW. Explaining technical stuff in English with heavy French accent was epic. And he really drives like an idiot through Paris in his slightly dented Peugeot 205.  -
the crew The Crew - Remember these pics?
MadManCK replied to Ryzza5's topic in Driving & Racing Games
Maybe one of the reasons part of the original TDU Crew went their own way. Fergus told in an interview that he already had the vision for The Crew when they were still working on TDU1. Anyway, The Crew will deliver. Mark my words. I had the chance to drive some more in preparation to the Route909 finals at the UbiHQ in Paris. Beta will start soon® (23rd) That will probably be a gathering of old and new friends. Looking forward to it. :D -
the crew The Crew - Influencers meeting the team
MadManCK replied to Eudemon's topic in Driving & Racing Games
He did mention that indeed. Also one of the few devs who has worked on TDU1, TDU2 and The Crew. The speed at which he scrolls through the thousands of files on his work station and immediately finds what he was looking for is beyond belief. The devs refusing to speak English is nothing new, but i missed the subtitles. EDIT: Subs are available now. Nice video of the event. They filmed for 2 days with 2 cameras, even at lunch and finally managed to cut that into 7:24 minutes, lol  But it gives a good representation of the visit to the Studio and the event.:D
