  1. Nobody really cares. If you NEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!! cam hack so badly and want to know why he abandoned the project. Why not either go post in the CAM HACK THREAD (i know , thats a silly idea isnt it) or go find the camhack website and contact the guy and go pester him ,rather than filling car mod threads with your moans about something other than the car mod in question..
  2. oooh very nice looking car, that back end looks quite aggressive. Is the UV layout of the car body done ok for skinning ?
  3. Yes, i know IF its possible or not. It's not.. But there are plenty of other games with excellent models of the KTM-Xbow such as Assetto Corsa. Which we CAN extract models from. In fact i already have extracted all the models from that game (including the MP4-12C GT3 which came out yesterday) i use the AC models for my cg renders.
  4. If it was somehting to do with UP don't you think it would have been noticed by everyone else when V0.3 came out ?? Valid Session problems are ALLWAYS server issues. what would make you think UP would affect servers or more specific Casino servers. the UP has NOTHING to do with the casino. Nothing in the UP affects servers or connections at all. All the patch does is add/fix cars, thats it.
  5. Once we get past V1.0 we can have ANY car or track we like. They will be giving us the tools to make our own content. The whole sim is designed to be "user content" friendly, they want us to make stuff for it. There is no reason we couldnt have porsche. If i remember correctly, the previous licensing agreement with i think it was EA (or whoever it was) expired. Games are allowed to go after porsche licenses again..
  6. As i said, companies are not cool over it. just most dont bother/ cannot be bothered to deal with all the legal issues involved in getting an entire community to stop. Some might. But just because they don't do anything doesn't mean they are ok about it. That previous post wasnt so much about the legality of it, it was more in response to the " well explain why turn 10 havent done anything yet" Its not really a grey area though at all. The short and simple answer is.. Anyone making a tdu mod using models obtained from a different game IS breaking a copyright law, which makes it illegal. The grey area only comes into play when things like "fair use" or " non profit" are used. but a copyright law was still broken none the less. Its the "owners" of the original models that consider how grey the grey area is by choosing whether to take legal action or not. And a company could let it ride for 2 years and then decide " ok this has gone way too far now" and scrap the fair rights idea. If they chose to, turn 10 could at any time turn around and slap this site with a cease and desist notice and we would have to abide by it. Which brings me full circle back to the original point of... Charging ( in any way) for mods.. Many users consider charging for mods is illegal yet free mods are perfectly fine.. which has no basis of fact other than their own opinion. Its the internet everybody expects to get everything for free and when they suddenly find there is something they really want but cant get it unless they either do the hard work themselves or put their hand in their pocket, they get all bent out of shape about it. As i said above ALL mods (made with ripped off models) are illegal due to the copyright laws, paying mods only seem worse coz you have to put your hand in your pocket for it.. Regardless if its free or a paid for mod, its still illegal { I actually encountered a guy in my chat room once that truly honestly believed that because he paid his £12.99 a month for his 1mb internet, that it granted him access to anything and everything for free "because i have already paid my money" He actually said that because he paid his money for the internet he was allowed to download any movie, music or game he liked. So i asked him " well if you are allowed to download everything for free and you paid £12.99 what do i get for my £60 a month?" the question confused him obviously :) } In regards to what is more likely to attract attention, then yes of course charging money for mods is gonna bring more attention than free mods, but as i said in another post there are "loop holes" with that . Don't charge "Per mod" if you have a price tag next to each mod then yeah, clearly you are selling mods.. But if you have say... a VIP area where you keep the best mods and you charge a monthly/yearly fee to access that, then that is different. the mods are still free, but the area they are kept in is restricted and the only way to get that access is a fee. Thats pretty common for a lot of sites that have downloadable content. you have the free section and you have a "special area" for people who are "willing" (its a choice) to pay for that..
  7. Just because a company doesnt do anything about it, doesnt mean they do not care. They may (and probably do) hate the very idea of their stuff getting ripped off after they had to pay thousands to get those cars.Bbut know from legal standpoint there is not much they could do. its just not worth going after every single person involved. But dont make the mistake in thinking companies are " just cool about it" simply because they havent taken anyone to court over it. there are a myriad of different reasons why a company may choose not to seek legal action against thousands of non entities, on some little car site.
  8. You forgot to address the part where you was being hypocritical. complaining AT ALL about the fact that you think some mods are illegal, when in fact 99% of all tdu mods are illegal ( because they are stolen models from another game ) but yet you still take part in downloading them and are quite emphatic about wanting certain mods. Make up your mind son, you cannot have it both ways. Either you don't download ANY mods coz they are all illegal and there for BAD, or you accept that some practices go on that you may not agree with, or down right despise, but you are in that circle of illegality anyway, so you let it slide...
  9. Or you can use the old loop hole that has been used for years... its the same one people used when charging for pirate cd's and dvd's. You are not paying for the item, you are paying for the time and effort that goes into making them, the item is free, but you charge for the "labour". Or like in the case of a premium subscription /vip status. You are neither paying for the mod or for the labour. you are simply paying to get access to a section of a website where all the best free mods are kept. And the property law doesnt come down so much to paying for the mod, it comes down to the fact someone removed it from a game, thats the original theft. Most EULA's state you are not allowed to reverse engineer/ disassemble the software. which is what we do when ripping the models. That has broke the property law. you have obtained the models they paid licenses for by reverse engineering the software. Dont get me wrong you can get busted for charging for stolen stuff. But the above loop holes are often used in those cases. But yes flat out charging for a mod, like putting an individual price on each mod.. " this one is $2.99.. this one is only $1.99" that is illegal. But even downloading a completely free car mod is as well, if the model came from another game. You are receiving stolen goods. So anyone who frequents a site such as this and downloads car mods, then goes on to say how some other mods are illegal is being rather hypocritical. What the modders are doing.. all of them.. by getting models from other games, is illegal, what uses do, by downloading said mods is illegal. People really have no place complaining about the legality of one set of mods when all of them break a very basic copywrite theft law.
  10. i try to cover all the bases :D While i have looked a little into how car mods are done, i dont know if i will actually get into car modding. i might do a few tracks and i will probably do a few different races.. i may be releasing tonight or tomorrow a new Special event race "The oldies" probably an 8 or 10 car race. Lotus type 49 on Monza 1966 But yeah i probably wont get that into modding for the same reasons i didnt get into modding on TDU. i could do it no problem, id only need to be shown everything once. But i mess about with cg stuff already, i run a small time cg company in my spare time, doing little jobs for companies (thats how i know id be able to do car mods for TDU or AC, most of the standard 3d principles carry over to the modding) but as i mess about with cg in pretty much all of my spare time and still never have enough time to finish it all. i really cannot dedicate any more time to some other cg related projects. id just have no time for my regular cg stuff. So i may have a crack at doing cars or tracks for AC but i doubt im gonna do many of them.. Special event races are easy, its just a text file. takes about 10 mins to knock up a special event race .. BTW if anyone wants to unlock standard "quickrace" so you can pick any car, any track and however many opponents you want, it can be done very easily.. Just go to AssettoCorsa/Launcher/Themes/Default/Modules/EarlyAccess/ in there you will find a file called earlyaccess.js (the icon looks like a little scroll of paper) just open that in notepad++ and look for the section that says..... var todisable = [ "#menu li[data-panel=career]", "#drive .tabs li[data-mode=raceweekend]", "#drive .tabs li[data-mode=quickrace]", "#drive .tabs div[data-mode=online]", "#drive .gridtabs .single", "#drive .gridtabs .random", ]; All you have to do is delete the line in orange.. resave the file and when you start up, you can go to the Race menu and choose a car a track and some opponents.. If you want to unlock (delete) the other lines you can as well, i deleted all 6 lines. Most of it isnt even in the game yet, but as soon as they give us access to it (like they have now given us small access to quickrace) it means it has to be in the game so those things will then be available to you outside of special events.. Remember to make a copy of the original file as a backup ( you can leave it in the same folder i called mine BACKUP-earlyaccess.js) Also its worth looking around some of the other folders at the various files. Some of the css, ini files and config files can unlock some funky stuff.. turn on Ghost car laps, Turn off camera shake, change the colour of the ire smoke... its all very easy to gain access to. you just need notepad++ lol
  11. Lots of Stuff about AC Sorry, rather a large write up.. When i start rambling i just keep on going :D While yes there WILL be paid for DLC, that is for BIG ticket items only. You wont EVER have to pay for updates or career mode or things like that.. all that stuff IS free. In fact more cars and a few tracks are still to be added before V1.0 is out. But one of the first sets of DLC (due out AFTER V1.0) is the dream pack, which will contain some cars and at least 1 track which will be Nurburgring Nordschleife (The big track..) And it will be Laser scanned for ultimate accuracy (users voted on which track they wanted in the DLC and nurburgring came first). But the emphasis is not going to be on DLC because most of the content will be coming from users. they made the game deliberately with modding in mind, thats why all the game files and things are easy to get at which will get you some cool things if you poke around. Your apps that you have down the side of the screen, there are like 5 or 6 that are hidden, you can only access them if you alter one of the config files and unlock "Dev apps" And while they have now introduced AI its actually been available for a while. i was racing against AI drivers 2 updates ago.. ( by altering a differnt file and turning on Race mode) The quality of the mods being made so far are amazing.. The car mods ( that cannot be put in the game just yet) are all really high quality, all made by already established modders from other games, such as Rfactor, along with several CG guys (like me) who have experience in splitting models into parts. The new car skins/paint setups are nice and sharp, with Many different ones already available ( like 10 pages of them) Heres an example of how moddable they wanted the game. There is a folder inside the Root AC folder called "DEV" in it they give you a skin template for every car in the game. And im not just talking a wire mesh of the car body or a black n white shape of a car. they give you a multi layered PSD file. you have your basic "paint layer" but then they also have all the layers for bump, shadows, ambient occlusions, reflection stuff like that. So you only need to paint the main car layer, then unhide and flatten the entire PDS and you automatically have all the shading around vents and under body panels, stuff like that, already set for you. Its like every layer you need to make a fully shaded, highlighted paint scheme they have included for you. All the cars and tracks will derive from FBX objects, which you will make in whatever 3d modelling app you wish, then import it into the Dev tool to set everything up. In the case of a car, all the things like names for the different parts, the various settings files for the physics of the car.. In the case of a track, where the start is, the pit lane, setting the driving line that sort of thing. But the dev (mod) tools wont be out until at least V1.0 Regarding tracks... While it will NOT be possible to do stuff like free roam driving ( as the game is really a circuit based racer) it is NOT required to have a looped circuit.. We have a drag strip track, thats not a loop, its more like a Sprint/ point to point track. So open ended tracks will be possible. And if any of you have seen that RBR track that SOME HOW someone figured how to make it work in Assetto Corsa, that was one loooong sprint track. Regarding cars.. If like me you have unpacked/imported AC cars into a 3d modelling app, you will easily see how they make the cars.. Its actually quite similar to TDU carmods, in respects to dummies and the like. Like TDU when you make a car, you have say... the car body a wheel and a dummy in between, to designate the rotational point, or you have a dummy on the door where the hinge would be to set that as the rotational point. AC cars are setup the same way. But i suspect those dummies will need to be added with the devtools. As they say you can make a car in any 3d app you like. But dummies ( also called Null objects) are handled differently in different apps. Some apps see dummies as a nothingness no physical geometry, just a name and a position in XYZ space. in other apps a dummy/null is handled as a singular point in space. So i suspect you will just make the model and split it into its parts in the 3d app then import that as an FBX into the devtools and add the dummies to it.. then compile the mod and all its associated files into a single KN5 file We even know how to make brand new (not replacement) "special events" If you want a "beat the lap time" we can make one of those, if you want to drag race the Tatuus F abarth we can make that.. We can even make extra AI race special events. They gave us 4 race events as a "taste" of whats to come (mainly because the AI is only complete on half the cars) but they wanted us to be able to play with it so they released it, Well a few of us started poking around the files and we figured A LOT of stuff out about the special events.. So last week I (yes me :hiya:) released a brand new AI race special event.. 10 KTM X-bow's (you and 9 AI) on the magione track over 5 laps.. Not only that but a few days ago i also cracked something else. While all those AI races are just "quickrace" mode, there is also a "race weekend" mode, which consists of a practice session, a qualifying session and then the race. Its not built into the game properly yet (qualifying is setup ready to be added, but its currently not finished) i did find out how to make "special event race weekends" Just they cannot be used yet as its not in the game. In fact i can make ANY kind of special event (7 to choose from) practise, qualifying, quickrace, hotlap, time attack, drift and drag, you can also mix n match several types into one event. so you could have a practice session then jump into a race, or do a hotlap session then jump into a time attack, The race weekend is actually made up of 3 types in one event, type 1 practice, then type 2 qualify, then type 3 quickrace. You can do the same thing but with any type... Quickrace, then drift ?? lol Then of course you also have python scripting. which allows you to make any "apps" for the sidebar. You dont need to make mods that alter how the base game engine works, all that can be accessed already, most files are .cfg or .ini or .js files which can all be opened in Notepad++ and altered to whatever you want, thats how some of us already had access to race mode before the race special events were even added with an update. Its only really ADDONS like a lap counter, or an onboard tire temp indicator stuff like that , that require python scripting.. And people have already made a few new apps for the game They even had telemetry saving since the start of early access. you can push telemetry files into something like MOTEC's I2pro telem software and see everything the car did during the race.. This is gonna be simply amazing.... Modding thats as easy and friendly, if not easier than making stuff for Rfactor. And car physics that piss over ANY console race game (and most PC race SIMS as well) As D Ream once sang " thiiiiiiiings can only get better"
  12. i dont think i can. this is the only game it does it on and it doesnt do it 100% of the time, just 95%. but nearly every time i alt tab out and back i lose FF. sometimes if if alt tab AGAIN it will come back. but it seems it is only this game that is doing it. im using a G25 wheel, it might be something to do with letting the game alter the settings in the profiler for the wheel.. i dunno.
  13. is that the Aventador, Reventon ? im comparing the nose cone and lights to the render i have of the aventador and they look Very similar. but all that carbon fibre, makes it look slightly different, so i had to ask.
  14. ive heard of this before. a few people have said " Alt tab out and back to the game and it fixes it " unfortunately if i alt tab out of TDU and back i loose all force feedback in my wheel. the wheel still works i have full control, but i have no feedback what so ever. I can understand why this works the way it does.. Its a gfx driver issue of some sort within the game. When you alt tab out you are forcing the computer to essentially reset the viewing mode ( when you alt tab and you get a black screen for a split second) so when you switch back to TDU it reinitialises the DX and it works then. Its something to do with the way TDU initialises DX on startup, i bet..
  15. i did actually fix that lambo aventadore roadster model. i transplanted the interior from the regular aventador (forza model) and put it in the roadster body. Came out quite nice actually... Good old forza 4 thanks for letting me steal your models :p -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) --
  16. The guy who wrote forza studio (the extractor/converter) hasnt done ANYTHING towards forza 5, and at last time of speaking he didnt have any plans to do it, until XBOne unpacking is properly understood As soon as Assetto releases their Laferrari i can rip it. it takes all of about 30 seconds. And to " ForAllMankind" Really dude give up on thinking about buying a model exclusively to be used on a car mod, thats just silly and wasteful. Nobody in their right mind will shell out $75, $100, $150 JUST for a car mod. there is NO WAY to get your money back.. Besides, you have no idea how good the model actually is until you get it.. A good example of this is the Aventador roadster. There is a SQUIRE model of the Av Roadster out there for about $100, when you look at the rendered pictures it looks amazing, but when you examine the model, you find out there is almost no interior at all. So the model looks great, but it is useless to us for TDU convertion. That is a problem for a lot of car models, and unless you can see detailed breakdown shots of every part of the car, you will never know if its a good model or not until you have already spent your money.. The only reason i gave out the model of the laferrari after i bought it, was because id already been paid. I got the model because i needed it on a CG project for a client. I paid for the model, but then the client paid me after i finished the job, so the model didnt really cost me anything, if it didnt cost anything, then it doesnt matter if you give it away to someone But really DON'T go buying a model just for a car mod, you will not get much thanks for it, the guy who makes the mod will. You dont hear many people thanking forza for their great cars, you just thank the guy who released the mod.. He is the one that does all the hard work after all. So you will spend money and get very little thanks in return. its REALLY not worth it dude
  17. can't say ive ever had the need to buy more than one of a car. If i want a different colour, i just go and paint it..
  18. There is a VERY easy way to get to repeat ALL races as many times as you want (including all gold bomb challenges) Just swap your exe for an older exe (like build 6) start the game. then close the game and switch back to the your build16 exe and start the game again. all challenges will be back and you can redo them and collect the money from them.
  19. HAHAH not the Cobra R!!!! that is just awesome, i loved that car when i was younger.. I did a render using the Forza 4 cobra R, im using it in an animation im working on.. God i funking love this patch. Xarlith and the modders involved are gods! Keep on rockin'
  20. i can bring an end to the Laferrari dispute quite easy. It ISNT going to be released for a very long time if ever. Might as well stop asking coz nobody can or will give a release date on it. I was the one who supplied Reventon with the High end laferrari model, he said thanks then shortly after mentioned there was a big problem with the interior, he didnt say exactly what, but did say it was enough to stop the project.. So unless someone is willing to stump up another $150 for a different laferrari model ( remember if its the same one from a different site its still gonna have the same interior problem) Nobody is gonna have laferrari mod until a different game has the model and we can rip it. Im sorry choc but you do need to calm your lalalala down a bit. you are getting almost as whiny as BMFC1 got when he was begging for people to give him models. Ive seen you refer to Reventon at least twice in the last week as a " f aggot" and say how he is a bad modder, but then still expect to see the Laferrari mod from him. Im sorry but if anyone spoke to me that way while still expecting something form me, the first thing id do is ensure you would never get your hands on the mod.. so you might as well stop asking about it. Hes the only one in this group of people that has that high quality model and he isnt releasing it any time soon, so we aint gonna get it until its fixed, its that simple. So you might as well stop harping on about it ( for like the 20th time this week)
  21. possibly the aventador, ive been working on an aventador roadster model all day so ive seen that shape a lot :)
