  1. I think I was googling for how to get my Logitech G25 racing wheel to work with GTA4 when I first came here.
  2. People don't see modded cars online, unless they are using the same mod. Car mod basically replaces an existing car model with another car model, so if you have replaced a car in the game with Ford Focus, everyone else will see you driving the original car which the Focus replaced. The change is only local for you (and for others who are using the same mod). So, basically, there's no point selling a mod, people can download it.
  3. I agree with some of the bugs, but I don't have the others: I haven't experienced any problems with the gearbox. Works fine with my manual clutch and H-gear shifter in Logitech G25. This can be adjusted from the options. Try by clickling left mouse and move mouse. It's very fast then. I agree. All On-screen signs and in-world signs are unrealistic and ruin the realistic atmosphere. This happens when you use mouse to look around. You can center again by pressing the look left, look right, look up or look down keys. Hardcore mode makes the game actually less sim/realistic, because the grip is like you'd be driving on a snow even though it's asphalt road, and the gravity is no longer realistic (huge unrealistic jumps).
  4. Wall of text :) Trying to read that hurt my eyes, so I copy-pasted it into notepad and created paragraphs out of it, and I think I found one of the longest sentences I've ever seen ;): After reading through it, I agree. I don't know why they want to alienate gamers by restricting modding etc. Some of the most popular games out there that are still played after a lot of years are mainly alive because there's the modding community that improves them and creates new content. This also makes people to buy the games years later.
  5. Are you sure it's not just the rev limiter kicking in? :)
  6. Voted.. Is it too late to enter? If not, I want to enter with this one: http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/8713/20090923000952.jpg
  7. It's not an opinion, it is a fact. When Bohemia Interactive and Codemasters split up, the right to develop a sequel remained with Bohemia Interactive, while the right to use the the two words "Operation Flashpoint" went with Codemasters. Bohemia Interactive has the exclusive right to develop sequels to the original OFP game, just not use the name. I'm sure they made a decent job with the game, and I might had even got the game if they hadn't used the words "Operation Flashpoint" in the name, as if it would have something to do with the game developed by Bohemia Interactive. Now the name just raises expectations of a different type of game, I think it's a very cheap tactic and will result in a lot of disappointed buyers. Sure they'll earn a lot of money as people remember the original Operation Flashpoint and are fooled to think that this is a sequel to it, but once they find out the truth (i.e. the game is not sequel to OFP and has been developed by completely different team with different goals), and see that it's not a military simulation as the Bohemia Interactive games are, it's not good for Codemasters reputation either. They should have just named the game into something completely different, and then people would not be expecting Operation Flashpoint military simulation experience, but would be expecting just a general large scale war game as it is. Bohemia Interactive in fact has already made 2 sequels for OFP, they just had to rename them because due to legal issues, the right to use name OFP was kept by Codemasters. They simply decided to call the sequel ArmA instead (and the latest sequel ArmA 2).
  8. I really hope they would include car damage and dump the Ferrari if Ferrari doesn't want their cars to be damaged in games. I don't understand why Ferrari wants to ruin the realism in games which have Ferrari included.
  9. This game has nothing to do with the original Operation Flashpoint, apart from the name. Operation Flahspoint developers (Bohemia Interactive) lost the name to Codemasters when they split up and have since released two sequels for the game with name ArmA: Armed Assault / Combat Operations and ArmA 2. Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis ArmA: Armed Assault / Combat Operations ArmA 2 I'm sure it's a great game, but they made a big mistake using Operation Flashpoint name in it, as a lot of fans of the original Operation Flashpoint will be disappointed if they expect the game to be as good as the original Operation Flashpoint was. I guess it'll still bring a lot of money in, using the name of a great game.
  10. I don't know if this is possible to do, but it would be great to have a mod that would remove the huge signs that you see when you approach a challenge, shop, home, etc. They could still show on the map and GPS, but just be removed from the 3D world. Another thing that could be removed are the huge arrows which show the turn direction in the middle of screen when GPS is enabled and you are going to a destination. It would feel much more realistic if these arrows would be shown in the GPS instead. They could still be quite big (so that they can be seen), for example taking whole space of the GPS screen. This would increase the atmosphere and make the game feel more realistic.
  11. If you are talking about IL-2 Sturmovik (latest version is the 1946 pack) for PC, it is the best WW2 combat flight simulator game ever made. If you mean IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, a game recently released to consoles, I don't know. It's made by the same developers, so it probably has a lot of simulation elements in it, but since it's made for consoles, it must be a version that's more arcade in style.
  12. I think it's really good the way it is now. For the cars that have paddle shifters, such as Lamborghini Murciélago, you can use the paddle shifters (H-shifter does not work, but clutch does btw) but for cars that have H-shifter, you use H-shifter. It's realism. In real life most cars that use semi-automatic transmission with paddle shifters don't require you to press down clutch when you shift, but the clutch is automatic (as it is in TDU for cars with semi-automatic transmission). Clutch can still be used for starting, etc, and it works fine, just like in real life.

    Arma II

I play ArmA II almost daily. If you like realism and simulation, you should definitely get ArmA II. Online play with a good co-operative group can be really amazing experience with ArmA II. If you prefer arcade run & gun, get Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (which by the way has nothing to do with original OFP, apart from the name).
  14. Warning: If you are planning to use this 1.67D Community Patch online, it will screw up the traffic. Most people who play online don't see the new cars that the patch creates (because they don't have the patch) and just plow through them like they were trains, and this can cause accidents to patch-players and generally awkward moments. In my opinion this is a big problem if the traffic is no longer synchronized. If you saved your DataBase folder before installing 1.67D Community Patch, you can revert back to original just by copying the original DataBase folder back. After you do that, you can still keep the changed clothes, but the traffic is no longer screwed up. DataBase folder: C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\DataBase
  15. Thanks! We are quite far into autumn here already and, although this weekend we are having a little "indian summer" with unusually warm for this time of year (nearly summer temperatures, 18°C, 65°F), next week it'll change and we might already get some snow..
  16. The pictures in the first post don't work. Anyone got screenshots of these?
  17. I like the new changes in this patch, such as being possible to use all clothes with motorbike. However, as many others have mentioned, the additions in the new traffic are not synchronized/visible with non-patched players. For me this is the biggest problem, most people who play online don't see the new cars (because they don't have the patch) and just plow through them like they were trains, and this can cause accidents to patch-players and generally awkward moments. Since there'll be always people who are not using the patch, it would be good to have a "mini"-version of the patch where traffic is left untouched but all other changes have been made. Another solution would be if you could tell us a way to restore traffic back to original but keep all the other changes. Anyways, thanks very much for the work you've done to make this patch!
  18. Can someone who's using this mod take some high quality pictures to show the new road / tree textures? The pictures on the first post are not showing.
  19. Thanks for the warm welcome!
  20. Nice one. The first Test Drives were awesome back then. I played the first 3 games. I was disappointed with TD4 so I skipped the next ones until TDU. One game with similar atmosphere was the original Need for Speed (the first one that came in 1995 for PC). In that you could go and cruise in traffic just like the original TDs and TDU.
  21. Ferrari won't allow it's cars to be used in a game that has realistic damage? If this is true, it's very disappointing info. I'd really love to see damage in TDU2..
