  1. Am I right in saying that Madden has to aquire its rights and is licenced by the NFL thats why it only has NFL teams and none from the CFL. Back on topic if you want it for around that price nige get a PS3 and import it then you'll have a blu ray player and then you can get GT5 when it comes out and drive Kimi's car.
  2. not sure they are wireless (iirc) so if there batteries are the same and the wireless tech on the US consoles is the same as here then i would think so. but then if they are wired then it would only be powered off of usb. (btw i used the term console as this is out on PS3 and 360 and Wii is coming soon). Just done a quick search on the official forum but as it hasn't got a search filter (disabled until you become a member) I sort of give up after the 4th page. found this on gamefaqs board but not sure how true it is: The XBox 360 version won't work because it's region coded. The reason that the PS3 version will work is because Blu Ray (the games at least, I think movies as well) aren't region coded. The controllers will work but not the game. The original poster/topic creator asked as there are loads of PS3 version availible on ebay that work over here but no 360 versions.
  3. Well you do only need one guitar if you plan to play by yourself or over XBL as the guitar can be used for either rythem, lead or base, but if you want friends round you can either use a GH controller (if you or a mate owns one) but wont be able to use all the functions on RB or buy another one. Anyways with the price all they have done is change the $ sign to a £ our euro sign which is quite common when they release stuff over here. Its happened with several games a products.
  4. The Sun chief motors bloke Ken Gibson (iirc) drove it in Miami to and had a police escort apparently as the car is worth millions. They reckopn the production will still be diesel but be a smaller block under the bonnet and they are contemplating having valves in the exhuast to make the desired not as it doesn't sound very lairy atm.
  5. Thats was fun last night, really enjoyed it. It was a sharp learning curve having the assists and braking line off but it was fun. Should be on later tonight. Look forward to seeing the pics.
  6. Well I've just been on the official Rock Band Forum and its full of patition threads and threads with people moaning about the price
  7. To my joy EA have announced Rock Band for europe but the downside is the mark up on it, £180 thats £95 quid more than the USA who get it at around £85. I know that when ever something comes to the UK they swap the $ to a £ sign and not use the exchange rate but its even more annoying when EA is doing it. Also ALL DLC will be availible from day one thats about 70 tracks. It wont stop me buying the full bundle tho. 'Rock Band' bundle to cost £95 more in UK Tuesday, April 8 2008, 15:03 BST By David Gibbon, Gaming Reporter Following the announcement that Rock Band will be released on May 23 for Xbox 360, a report claims the full package will cost UK buyers around £95 more than the equivalent bundle in the US. While US gamers can buy Rock Band, complete with bundled instruments, for $169 (around £85), in the UK, EA has decided to split up the US bundle and sell it all separately. According to Eurogamer, EA plans to charge around £180 for the Rock Band bundle, offering the standalone game for £49.99 and an instrument package for £129.99. This gives a total cost of £179.98 - almost £95 more than the same package in the US. EA also plans to sell separate wireless guitars for £59.99 and a drum kit for £69.99. Responding to the news, one gamer said: "Once again we get stiffed in Europe on pricing. It disgusts me. There doesn't appear to be the mention of buying the microphone on its own so people like myself who have two Guitar Hero guitars can't simply buy the solus game, a drum kit and a separate mic". Linkage: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a93335/rock-band-bundle-to-cost-gbp95-more-in-uk.html Originally found out through Major Nelson: http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/04/08/rock-band-coming-to-europe.aspx Edit: Better Review Rock Band gets official Euro date News by Rob Purchese Today 08:00 Electronic Arts will be releasing the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band in Europe on 23rd May. It will be a timed exclusive for Microsoft, with PS3, PS2 and Wii offerings to appear "later this summer". (Update: EA has now clarified pricing details, too, having left them out of its original announcement. The instruments will be GBP 129.99 / EUR 169.99 with the game sold separately.) Euro Rock Band will feature a selection of exclusive songs, as was rumoured in March. These include tracks from Oasis and Blur plus adopted German favourite Die Toten Hosen, which might mean "the trouser hose". But also might not. We will get the full compliment of existing downloadable tracks on 27th May, too. This adds up to a meaty 70 songs, which you can get a load of over on the official site. Going forwards, both European and American versions will be given fresh tracks at the same time each week. The full list of Euro-exclusive songs can be found below. English "Beetlebum" by Blur "Rock 'n' Roll Star" by Oasis "Monsoon" by Tokio Hotel "Hysteria" by Muse German "Hier Kommt Alex" by Die Toten Hosen "Perfekte Welle" by Juli "Countdown to Insanity" by H-Block X French "Manu Chao" by Les Wampas "New Wave" by Playmo EA is hosting an event today to showcase the game to the European press, so hopefully we'll have more on the announcement soon. Meanwhile, pop over to our Rock Band import review to find out more.
  8. and the VW Beetle.... you could say the Lambo Muira but it isn't in production as far as I know
  9. What your forgeting Mb is that 2 outings of GT was out on the PS1 which was how long ago?? GT5P is the first outing on a next gen console, and what the dev probably ment by it being a demo is that its probably a test bed for the proper GT5.
  10. I agree with Hybrid. Sky broadband comes with Netgear routers and when ever I play round the gf (she has sky) I get no problems at all and the wireless is very good aswell. I have the BT home hub, its ok but it throws tantrums and randomly decides that I can't connect to people, it normally rotates between MCW, Dodgem and Nige
  11. There are a few more eligable entries from others about. On topic nearly time for the race
  12. I've woke up to some white stuff this morning aswell. I can't believe it really as it was quite warm towards the end of the week (shorts and t-shirt weather), plus the fact I never really believe weather presenters as even when its ment to be sunny they always say theres a chance of rain to cover themselves.
  13. I didn't really read the review just the differences between the machines. so the question is, do I buy it again when I get a PS3????????? I'm swaying towards yes
  14. I'm getting mine as soon as Sony gets the 80gb SKU out. Also this update will co incide with the Getaways estimated release of september. Also if you read the last line of the of the interview, the creator only sees prologue as a demo atm.
  15. As I said in a thread the other week GT is to get damage GT5 Prologue to get downloadable damage this fall Posted Apr 4th 2008 11:31AM by John Neff Filed under: Toys Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be dropping April 17th in the U.S., both as a downloadable game from the Playstation Store and on actual Blu-ray disc. We reported last week that damage modeling, long missing from the Gran Turismo series despite being featured in many of its competitors, was for the first time being considered, and today we have word from Gran Turismo head Kazunori Yamauchi that it could come as a downloadable feature for the game as early as this fall. Gran Turismo games have always set the standard for racing sims, but the lack of physical damage to the cars when buddy bumping on a back straight or flying grille first into a barrier have held them back. In fact, smart players can use the lack of damage to their advantage by heading into turns without breaking and bouncing off the wall. Hardly the perfect line, but it gets the job done on those particularly difficult courses. Thanks for the tip, Brad! Source:Auto Blog http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/04/gt5-prologue-to-get-downloadable-damage-this-fall/ More: GT5 Prologue: "Major update" this year Thursday 3-Apr-2008 1:03 PM Vehicle damage, community building features coming later this year, Yamauchi reveals to CVG Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that a "major update" is coming for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue later this year, which will add among other things long-awaited vehicle damage. In an interview with CVG this afternoon, Yamauchi said that the update will also have a big focus on enhancing Prologue's online modes, starting with the addition of various "community building features." The last bit will come as particularly excellent news to PS3 owners, as the GT5 preview is currently lacking somewhat in the online department. You can expect the full interview with Mr. Gran Turismo very shortly. Who says it's 'just a demo' now, eh? Andy Robinson Linkage: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=186046
  16. I know this is just a design by a guy from coventry but it looks really good, I would definately get one, I like the old rally cars. Ford Escort MK1 Concept One of the most well loved performance cars in Europe, the Ford Escort never caught on stateside. Now, an Automotive Design graduate from Coventry University is trying to change that. Rajesh Kutty's Ford Escort MK1 concept brings modern retro design to the classic coke-bottle shape. The 1967 original featured downsized design cues from American muscle cars, throwing a few original ideas into the mix. The Mk1's dog bone grill is carried over, but hides behind driving lights inspired by the Escort's rally success. The concept's shape and headlights in particular remind us of the Connaught Type-D, could the original Escort have been an influence on that car's design? One more picture after the jump. 17. There is a section in the Highway code for cyclists and you do a cyling proficiancy test at school (or ment to). but something needs to be done about them. But then I am not against the cyclist (i used to be one) Back to the Porsche thing, I think the CC has changed from a Congestion tax to a green tax, its just another stealth tax at the end of the day. and Mr ken spends it on his trips away.
  18. I hope Boris Gets in. On the bicycle thing something needs to be done about them in London (or anywhere for that matter) as the do not obey traffic rules or regs or anythign for that matter.
  19. Quote: Porsche takes CC fight to next level 3 April 2008 Porsche has officially applied for a judicial review challenging the Mayor’s £25 charge congestion charge by issuing its case in the High Court of Justice. Porsche believes that the increase of the congestion charge from £8 a day to £25 is "unfair and disproportionate" and could result in an 11% drop in sales in the UK. Andy Goss, managing director of Porsche Cars GB, said: "Not only is this new tax on motorists unfair, it is also a disproportionate and illegal use of power by the mayor. "The Porsche case is about protecting London and Londoners from a new tax that will not only fail to reduce CO2 emissions in central London, but also increase congestion and damage air quality." Pendragon Premium, which has three dealerships in central London, has filed a seperate claim, stating that it could face up to £180,000 in higher congestion charge costs. Porsche started its campaign against the changes to the congestion charge in February. The Friends of the Earth has hit out against Porsche’s challenge over the new CC rules, saying the luxury car marque "has a vested interest in keeping polluting vehicles on the road". Porsche filed its challenge in the High Court of Justice Queen’s Bench Division Administrative Court seeking to "quash the mayor’s new charge on the grounds that it is both a disproportionate and illegal action by the Mayor". 21. Tata eyes research unit in Coventry Apr 1 2008 By John Duckers, Business Editor Indian group Tata – fresh from acquiring Jaguar and Land Rover – is now expected to press ahead with a major new multi-million pound research and development unit in Coventry. The company’s European Technology Centre has long been earmarked for part of the Ansty site alongside Swedish group Ericsson – its R&D complex is currently under construction. A full launch of the ETC had been due by now but the Jaguar Land Rover deal saw it put on hold and Tata is now thought to be re-thinking elements of its strategy. Sources still expect the base to come to the Midlands, albeit some believe it might end up not at Ansty at all but nearer the current Jaguar technical centre at Whitley. "We are still working with them to make it a reality," said John Edwards, departing chief executive of regional development agency Advantage West Midlands. It is thought that various Government and AWM incentives adding up to £40 million worth of public money could be available to lure Tata in. Architects and a project team have already been appointed. Quite when a go-ahead will be announced is not clear, but it is suggested that if Tata does agree to choose Ansty then detailed planning consent could be granted by around September. "We would expect to see the building operational by the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010 at the latest," said Mr Edwards. It would see the current more limited research operation based at Warwick Manufacturing Group, where Tata employs 150 people, switch to the new complex. Over three to five years that would then build up to around 1,000 staff. It would effectively give Tata three R&D centres in the Midlands – the Gaydon and Whitley operations serving Jaguar and Land Rover have been purchased as part of the takeover from Ford. Tata is said to be comfortable with all three, albeit one theory is that Gaydon may end up as the R&D centre for all of JLR, with Whitley becoming more of an administrative unit. The ETC would have a wider role for the global Tata group. It will work for both Tata Motors and Tata Consultancy Services, the computer services arm which is the fifth biggest in the world, challenging the likes of Oracle and IBM. Mr Edwards said: "The ETC will take European design, innovation and engineering and apply it to cars Tata produces in India." In line with running Jaguar and Land Rover separately from Tata’s Indian-based lower segment models, like the Indicar and Nano, the R&D would be kept apart too. Whether closer R&D integration will be possible in the future is an open question, but that is thought to be at least ten to 15 years off. And the ETC will also cater for a third subsidiary, Tata Technology & Services, which provides engineering and advice to other group companies and outside firms. Warwick Manufacturing Group, under Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya, who has worked with Tata for some 15 years, would continue to be a major provider of cutting edge R&D and innovation to the company. "They will remain a key player with Tata," said Mr Edwards. He believes that what will emerge overall will be what he calls a "proper partnership" where Tata nurtures Jaguar Land Rover and Midlands engineering skills bolster the group’s operations worldwide. And Mr Edwards is insistent that this can work for the region on a very much wider scale. He points out that the West Midlands has massive expertise in areas such as automotive, computer and computer games technology, and alternative power systems such as wind energy and hydrogen vehicles. There is the engineering expertise in areas like gearing and control systems, strong links with universities and backing all this up is a top quality legal, accountancy, banking and professional sector. "We can sell our technologies," he said. "We have to get the ideas into production." As for the future of Jaguar Land Rover, Mr Edwards says the Tata deal has removed the uncertainty affecting both. Tata was in for the long term and was sensitive to the culture of the two companies. Mr Edwards predicts a new XJ saloon car for next year and confirms a two-seater sports model is a possibility, maybe as a derivative of the new XF. For Land Rover, expect upgrades for the Range Rover Sport and the Discovery, and a new Freelander concept. "They have got the products that will take them forward," said Mr Edwards "Tata is very profitable – it generates cash. It has enough money to make this work." But Ford poured money in and never got the returns it sought. Mr Edwards said: "Tata will benefit from all the work that Ford has done. Land Rover is profitable and Jaguar will be profitable. "It is a great accident of timing. The investment is about to deliver." Which sees the brands set fair on model development for three to four years. And, with all the pressure on emissions from the green lobby, he sees a future opportunity for Jaguar Land Rover’s diesel expertise – to take it into hybrid technology. "We are talking about developing the technologies for the future." That would require all the various parties – AWM, WMG, the universities and suppliers – working together. "It is about moving to the next level," said Mr Edwards. "Tata will make the commitment but we have to show we can work with them." http://www.birminghampost.net/birmingham-business/birmingham-business-news/automotive-business/2008/04/01/tata-eyes-research-unit-in-coventry-65233-20702601/

An Official Announcement By Sony Regarding The PlayStation Store 31 Mar PLAYSTATION®Store to undergo April revamp Customer feedback drives new design, interface and navigation Updates on hold for two weeks; new-look Store launches mid-April This April, PLAYSTATION®Store, the online content store on PLAYSTATION®Network, is getting a whole new look and feel – and it’s in response to feedback from the millions of PSN registrants in the PAL region. The revamp comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PLAYSTATION Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation. The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface. Content will be suspended for two weeks while the improvements are carried out but users can look forward to a special update in mid-April. There will be no weekly content updates between now and the re-launch, although users can still download content from the back catalogue, such as Warhawk™ and Gran Turismo™ 5 Prologue. The PLAYSTATION Store revamp will not affect PLAYSTATION Network accounts or the virtual wallet system. Source Three Speech PS3 "semi official" Blog
