  1. DiRT2 still looked awesome on my DX10 card, I won't mind if TDU2 is either DX10 or 11 at this stage.
  2. Since when does TopGear stage anything?
  3. Welcome I think you'll like TDUCks Chatbox feature :) Also check out the FAQ by clicking the button near USER CP and MEMBERS (up top). You don't need to use the quote function if the post you're replying to is directly above it ;)
  4. Uhh where did you get it from? You can also try creating a new temp Windows account, log into it, close all running processes (as many as possible), and then start the game. You'll have to start a new profile (don't copy the other one accross). See if that runs ok. If you recently installed some mods, try removing them.
  5. I think the motherboard will be fine (as long as it supports PCI 2.0 - use a program like Everest (demo) to get that info). You will probably, however, need a new Power Supply Unit (PSU). The graphics card needs direct input from the PSU from a 6-pin and 4-pin cable. Even my 9800 GX2 needed both of these connections, so make sure you've got a 800w (or higher) PSU with these connections. You can get cheap adapters to convert the normal 4-pin molex (the power connectors that go in your HD and DVD drives) to the plugs that the card takes, but this isn't recommended (especially for such a high end card). Since you're in Melbourne, feel free to send me a message when you are closer to upgrading, and I can show you the best/cheapest places to go shopping.
  6. Currently got a '92 Toyota Corolla Hatchback I've got a Mk 6 Golf 118 TSI on order (equates to the 165BHP petrol one if you're not in Australia). Should be a good upgrade :)
  7. You couldn't choose a custom paint job in certain cars in TDU1, maybe vinyls will only be allowed on certain (tuner) cars???
  8. The Megapack is a combination of all the XBOX 360 DLCs except for the last DLC (most of of those in the last one are available as mods anyway). Adds 45 vehicles from memory.
  9. Every time I've gone into EB (Australia) I've seen the game on shelf for no more than $20. If you have PayPal (linked to Bank Account) you could use an online store or Ebay. If you have a friend or relative you trust you could give them the money and get them to buy it online with a credit card (I had to do that with the mega pack).
  10. Welcome to the forums. Congratulations on being the 1161st person to post an intro in here. :)
  11. Well, I don't play it that much (only I need to film a few scenes in it for an upcoming movie). It is a good game if you have a good setup. It would've been a lot better if there were more DLC's, especially more tracks (wish someone would add Bathurst).
  12. There is a track called Riviera in Supercar Challenge for PS3 (made a little bit after Ferrari Challenge, but with more cars and tracks, get it if you see it cheap). It is very similar to Monaco. :) I'm really annoyed with EA for not giving this pack to PC fans. Shift is supposed to be more of a Sim Racer compared to previous NFS games... correct? ~90% of simulation games are on PC only... correct? PC allows you to add custom hardware (wheels, TrackIR (there is a TrackIR mod for Shift), etc) and is capable of playing Shift with much better graphics, accross 3 monitors, and in 3D. So why wouldn't PC users get some special treatment for this type of game... why? I guess EA's bottom line is more important than their fans (the ones that specifically asked for proper physics and a cockpit view after Undercover came out anyway). The fact that lots of people don't buy PC games probably doesn't help either. Let's see if Criterion Games look after us better with their upcoming NFS release.... I'm still waiting for the island and Cops'n'Robbers DLC to come to PC for Burnout Paradise... so it's not looking good. :(
  13. Trackmania had a similar system...
  14. Does the game stutter in an offline profile. If not, the problem is likely related to your router or Port Forwarding settings (or ISP).
  15. If that's the case I would get a nVidia 400 series card. The new series means it'll last longer. If you're not in a rush to get one, then wait for a month or two for the prices to drop (once supply meets/exceeds demand). If you end up getting a 200 series card, I'd probably wait again as those prices will quite likely drop when the 400 series is more readily available. Bottlenecks won't be a massive issue with a Core2Duo CPU, but I would recommend upgrading your RAM to 4GB if possible (even if you run 32bit Windows). If you've got access to it, Windows 7 64-bit is great.
  16. I like the idea of this (I reckon we could have a few times and places (for other timezones) when TDU2 comes out). When I get a new gfx card I'll try and turn up to some of these.
  17. Are you? I thought it was the Australians were doing that... :( Welcome to the forums ;)
  18. Nice Suby pics, Dan :)
  19. Even if I could see the pedestrians I'd still think that you were
  20. Try closing any antivirus/firewall/internet security suite software. Also work out which process is running at a high CPU load.. post it here. I had a 9800 GX2 so this probably isn't very useful, but I was running version 195.something before.
  21. Exactly. I'd rather play a good game offline with a good wheel than a good game online with a gamepad. Who here still plays Fuel, for example (ok there are other issues threre). I have about 80 games (not all installed). 90% are racers, 1 is FSX, 1 is FIFA, the rest are old small games or Nintendo/PSX emulators. I'm not a fantastic racer (no better than above-average anyway) especially in in sims like GTR Evo, and that's the great thing about TDU: it's a driving game more than a racing game. I think I will wait at least until after GT5 and TDU2 come out before worrying about Forza. Maybe it will be cheaper when Natal comes out. Then I could keep the PS3 in my room where I can connect it with the PS3 and use the 360 in the lounge room, since it has a proper Windows Media Centre extender. We'll wait and see. I still have to put my money towards a new (8-month old, second hand) Golf 6 hopefully in a few months.
  22. Oh, I don't seem to get alerted to Visitor Messages. I better go check my options... Thanks for the insight so far.

  24. Hi Guys A number of stores in Australia are offering a XBOX 360 Elite with 5 free games (I'd be trading in at least 2 of them straight away) for about $388 AU. Forza 3 is included as one of the games. My main question is if Forza 3 is so good to the extent that I should buy a whole console and Gold subscription to play it? Please use the poll options above. PC is my platform of choice, when I do have a choice. My computer is (or was, or will be) faster than both the 360 and PS3 (my graphics card went bust a month ago and I've preordered a nVidia 480 GTX). Playing on the PC allows me in most cases to use ButtKicker, TrackIR, and the Logitech G25 for a great immersive experience. I can also film videos using Fraps on PC, I can easy chat to others using a keyboard (not a fan of voice chat). The PC lets you upgrade whatever you want, and prices are competitive between stores. I also own a PS3. I purchased it mainly for its media centre capabilities (was cheaper, better looking, smaller, quiter than building a HTPC) for the living room. I can stream my collection of TopGear videos stored on my HDD across the inbuilt WiFi and watch them via HDMI on my 42" TV. Since most Sony brand BluRay players almost cost as much as the PS3 (or they did when I bought it), it was a no-brainer. While waiting for the GTX 480, I've moved the PS3 into my room, connected it via HDMI to my 24" monitor, connected the G25, and have been playing Midnight Club LA, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and Super and Ferrari Challenge by System 3. The G25 works superbly with these games, making them a lot easier than when I first attempted them with the PS3 controller (which I don't like). I already have a XBOX 360 Wired controller for the PC, which is nice. I've used it for games that don't support the G25 too well, like FUEL and Flat Out: Ultimate Carnage. I couldn't stand using it for games like NFS Shift or GTR Evolution, however. The G25 will never work on the XBOX 360, the XBOX 360 wheel is rubbish compared to the G25, and the Fanatec wheels are either expensive or not faantastically reliable from external forum posts that I have read. I know Forza 3 is very good. Had it been released on the PS3 or PC I would have bought it close to launch day. Is it worth $500 though (I'll need a WiFi adapter and a LIVE subscription)? Do not attempt to start a flame war comparing the PS3 to the XBOX, or Forza 3 to Gran Turismo 5. I am well informed about both items. Inappropriate comments will be removed if necessary. Thanks :)
  25. At least TDU isn't as bad as NFS Shift. I can turn on my PC and load Windows quicker than that game with all its screens and unnecessary menus.
