  1. So we're back to the concepts having the island enlarged (either in scale or just bits added to the north coast perhaps), or having multiple islands, be it O'ahu, or the nearby Spanish islands, or both. You can't go too hard on 360 owners. On April 6 MS is letting them use USB flash or hard drives up to 16GB each to store stuff. I was reading the comments posted at the bottom of the article, laughing at how they defended their choice of console, yet 50% of them didn't know what the announcement meant for them. :D
  2. It starts off ok, but when you're cruising, people don't see the H next to your name either (quite humiliating), but you can prove that you're in H mode still by flying over a jump. The only problem is, you eventually notice that the physics change to n00b mode as well. The steering, braking and gravity changes back to normal as well.
  3. Hmm, the Atari Europe TDU forums are down again, maybe that means they're updating the TDU2 website again :p
  4. I'm wondering if the likes of Tool and Djey will play TDU2 online more than they have TDU1 :D
  5. When I read the bit the wheel motion blur in photo mode, the first thing that popped into my mind was... 'What if they just photoshopped it like a lot of TDUC members do for their pics...?' Hopefully they didn't, though :)
  6. Where are you getting all these pics from Bobby? :) Maybe they can release new islands as DLCs for the game (along with cars, game modes, etc) every year or two.
  7. They specifically said 8 player races. There wasn't any word on the cruising limits. I hope it's more - even 12 would be better if not 16.
  8. The "instances" part is great - organised cruises should actually work well now :) Shame about the 8 player limit though. As long as they don't behave like EA did (with NFS Shift) and limit DLCs to the consoles again, I'll be happy. (Fancy releasing new cars and tracks for PS3 and 360 and telling their PC fans (where most of the sim racing fans come from) to get stuffed). :(
  9. Yeah I know. The only way would be to ban everyone in advance for 24h :) That's a joke, btw.
  10. I remember reading somewhere that Speshul members gets a bigger image allowance, does anyone remember the specifics?
  11. I've often thought that the time forum moderators spend (esp with menial tasks) on their forums often goes unnoticed (maybe not so much on these forums, but you get the idea). I was looking on this list of international observance days and saw that 1) International Talk Like a Pirate day is included, and 2) July has hardly any observance days. I read the article for Pirate day to see how it took off and was added to the list, and was basically by word of mouth. If you like this idea, simply mention it on another forum that you belong to, until a large number of forums are aware of it. Then, on July 17 of every year, we can, um, (haven't thought this far yet...) sing the praises of these selfless people and promise not to post bad stuff (that needs moderating) for 24 hours. (Other suggestions would be appreciated). Feel free to post below and let me know what you think.
  12. I didn't mean for TDU to be only on Steam (like Race 07), more like NFS Shift or DiRT 2. +1 for the dedicated servers (just not the same ones TDU1 ran on) :)
  13. Let's see, recent game purchases... DiRT2 - $46 AU NFS Shift - $51 AU FIFA 2010 - $60 AU If you shop at EB Games you are getting ripped off. Head over to Ebay or Steam.
  14. If TDU2 turns out to be as awesome as it sounds, I wouldn't think twice about spending $100 on it, but that would stop a lot of my mates from getting it, so I guess it'll be released at around the same price as most new games. I would like to see TDU2 on Steam this time as well.
  15. I know what you mean. I don't want to 'have' to spend too much time there completing stuff, esp near the start of the game. But if they do improve things (i.e. sealed tarmac runways at the airport, as one example), I would still hang around O'ahu to make movies, etc. It's a bit like those older Tony Hawk skateboarding games, that kept putting in the Warehouse level from the first game, or NFS 4 including the tracks from NFS3.
  16. The game starts on Ibiza. I doubt they completed the whole game and got up to the bit where you unlock O'ahu. I could be wrong - we'll just have to wait and see.
  17. Uhh, I mean "O'ahu will be back in TDU2"... :) It's one times PLUS one times (approx) PLUS half times (approx) EQUALS two and a half times. (1x1x0.5 = 0.5) :) It's probably more fair to say that the new roads in O'ahu would be closer to 0.8 times, and Ibiza 0.7. (1 + 0.7 + 0.8 = 2.5)
  18. As far as the 'size' of the environment goes (be it stretch of road or area), can we clear things up and post the most likely situation somewhere prominent? Wikipedia tells us that Ibiza is 220km sq, and O'ahu is 596km sq. Ibiza in TDU2 will have more roads than O'ahu in TDU1. O'ahu will be back in TDU2, but with more roads (offroad tracks, etc) than what was in TDU1 (according to the report in 2007 by that Intern dude) (possibly no longer the case, but we'll see). Hypothesis for explaining why TDU2 will be 2.5x bigger than the original game: O'ahu in TDU2 will have all of the roads from TDU1 (1x) PLUS a whole lot of new roads, since half the island had no roads before (~1x), plus there is a new, smaller island called Ibiza in the game (~0.5x). 1x + 1x + 0.5x = 2.5x
  19. +1 on the poll idea. Give options to choose how many months (1 to 24) should go past before we let mods in. Even if the feature isn't implemented, it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks. Maybe if Tool converts some TDU cars into the NFS Shift format they won't be as concerned... and that's a lame joke.
  20. Yeah - I saw that thread on the American forums too :) How about this for an idea: When you install TDU2 to E:\Games\TDU2, you have the following folder structure: TDU2\Mods\ TDU2\Mods\Vehicules\ TDU2\Mods\Environment\ TDU2\Mods\Sounds\ You then place your cars, textures, engine sounds, etc, in this subfolder. When you start the game, you have your Continue Game option, as well as Hardcore Mode, Simulation mode, and... Mod Mode. Only when you select mod mode do your mods load, but the game restricts certain online actions. You can still cruise with friends, but that's about it.
  21. If it were up to me, games would come with a 1-2 year mod-proof lock. Those that still play after that time period can then start making mods. TDU1 was great, there was plenty of time to enjoy the game as it was, before people started to work out how to mod stuff besides the weather. I must admit that I am a little concerned that our modders will find TDU2 too easy to mod, I just hope they refrain for a while. Hopefully, the now 'community-friendly' devs at Eden wil be able to fulfill our requests anyway.
  22. Cheaters v Cheat Protection systems are a little bit like Pirates v Piracy protection systems, it's always a game of leapfrog where one is always finding new ways to outdo the other. Sure, I expect better protection this time around as well, but I don't want such to block our modding community (at least the ability to change car bodies and environment textures), and If I somehow managed to beat everyone else in the TDUC club at a Diner challenge, I'd be able to post something along the lines of 'In your face' on the forums (j/k), rather than just having the hollow victory of beating complete strangers. :)
  23. The Diner in TDU1 was a good concept, foiled by countless cheaters. Here's my proposal to fix that up in TDU2: Have your public Diner that everyone can access, but also have private ones that you access from your clubhouse. Only club-house members can create and compete in these events. If anyone cheated in your clubhouse dnier, you would simply banish them from your clubhouse. Some clubs are very small, so it would be ideal to let players join more than one club simultaneously (perhaps up to 5). This way a player could have a small club with their close friends, and also join a large club (such as a TDUC club). You could also join car-owners-clubs, ie a Ferrari Owners Club, which would be full of people you don't necessarily know, but they would all be massive Ferrari fans (with Ferrari T-shirts) and you would go on Ferrari cruises and track days. This post assumes that: 1. Clubs will be in TDU2 2. Clubs will work properly on PC this time.
  24. I guess no-one is going to release any more mods now until April since the Offroad pack is a clear favourite. :) The 2010 Shelby GT5000 gets my vote
