  1. Something like this: ;)
  2. Your suggestion is my command. I'll sort out a new screenshots thread assuming one of the other mods hasn't done it already. :)
  3. I'm running a GTX 480 and I must say that it is noticeably quiter and cooler (everything being stock) than my previous card, the 9800 GX2. Plus it's in an Antec 900 case, so the case fans are a lot louder than the gfx card. Just don't touch the heatsink on the card when or just after gaming, that part gets quite hot, but the actual GPU temps are lower than the 9800 GX2. Who's going to hear it when you're gaming anyway? You guys use speakers, right?
  4. Maybe something similar to Factory Driver in NFS Porsche
  5. I once setup an event in TDU which was similar but more of a hunt. We all grabbed Ford Mustangs (Group F) and went into the city on the east coast (near Lanikai, near the Saleen dealer). The idea was that we setup a boundary around that city that we had to remain in, and we would all turn off our HUD and GPS. One person would start off as the hunter, the rest of us would get a head start and would have to drive around like traffic cars, trying to avoid him. If the hunter spots one of the other players, he beeps and gives chase. If caught, the person joins him as a hunter, and they both try to get the remaining drivers, until the last one is captured. It sounds simple, but it does get your heart rate up a little bit when you don't know if the Mustang in the distance is a hunter or not, and you have no idea who you might see when you get to the next intersection. Unfortunately (for me) we had connection issues at the time, so I couldn't even see what the other guys were typing to each other. I managed to be the last one caught though, so that was alright. In any game mode where we do chases in TDU1, we always use the 'NFS Host Pursuit III' rules of whether you are deemed 'caught' or not. If you are doing <120kph for more than 2 seconds with a police right near you, or you hit the reset button in the presence of the chaser, you are deemed to be caught. The chaser will honk their horn to tell you that you are busted. In TDU2, the event hoster could draw the boundary on the map (similar to how you create checkpoints on the map in the Editor). All cars would be the same, but the hunters would have a police car livery. You could force drivers to use the cockpit view for added realism, and you could force the HUD off. You could also restrict who can type message to who in the game, and there could be an option to get notified when someone is caught (or you could leave it off for added suspense). As an added bonus, you could watch a replay of the highlights once the round is over so that you could upload it to YouTube. I've hosted more 'event' cruises than normal ones, so I'll post more things later on. Feel free to add to the discussion.
  6. What game modes would you like to see added to TDU2 either on release or as DLC? i.e. things like Cops v Robbers, etc. Feel free to invent your own game mode and give a description of how it works, but try to stay on topic.
  7. I was 'this' close to buying an iRacing license, but I couldn't use PayPal due to some glitch there and so I decided against it. Either I buy a subscription and have access to everything, or I buy the software once and then buy the DLCs. Their current method doesn't sit well with me. I've got GT Legends, GTR2, Race 07, GTR Evo, STCC, and Race On, so I'm fairly well covered for sims at this point. I might get rFactor since they've got a good modding community as well, and rFactor 2 could take a while to come out. btw, I turned the graphics all the way up in Race 07, and did a race at Brands Hatch in heavy rain, and the graphics looked pretty sweet (not like DiRT 2 or anything, but a lot better than it used to look on my old PC). I keep forgetting that Race 07 is a WTCC game and not BTCC. Hopefully Jason Plato can increase his championship lead again.
  8. If we can't have BMWs due to licensing, can we at least have Alpina's or the other RUF equivalents?
  9. Looks like everyone's going to own supercomputers by September
  10. If it's cheap on Steam, I might get F1 (DiRT2 was good on PC). I won't play it that much though. I was struggling enough with Formula Masters last night at Singapore in Race On. :) @twm - can you fix your post above to remove the *'s. I don't think it's swearing given the context.
  11. It's up to Mike if he decides to omit the pics that obviously are not burnouts, since technically they're not following the rules. I doubt they'd gather many votes in any case. If you're not sure, feel free to change your pic. Mine is borderline, but I never win these competitions anyway, so I'm not too fussed. ;)
  12. Maybe this will help: :) Hopefully TDU2 allows us to pull off more spectacular burnouts
  13. If you own something and want to let the rest of us know if it's any good or not, post a mini review of the product or game (include platform) here. Include a couple of pros/cons and a score out of 100%. If possible, try to mention things you've learnt from your own experience of the product instead of repeating the main points of larger reviews. If a mini review catches our attention, we can research it more. Example: Test Drive Unlimited (PC Game) + Open world (cruising) + Lots of cars + Cockpit view with 2DOF TrackIR support - Online server not always available, hard to connect with friends - Car sounds are innacurate - Car brakes are badly implemented in both physic modes Score - 78% Nokia N96 (Mobile [smart]Phone) + 16GB memory built in plus mini-SD slot for high capacity cards + Great hardware (GPS, TV Tuner/PVR, 5MP camera, lots of buttons quick access to functions) + Nokia Maps software - Doesn't qualify for Nokia's 'Free Forever' navigation service (yet?) A License in Australia costs $15/year) - Phone occasionally develops a freezing problem (every few months) and you'll have to perform a Factory Reset - No touchscreen. Graphical User Interface isn't brilliant. Score - 74% (I didn't spend much time thinking about the TDU Mini Review (it's an example), so don't all go screaming that the score should be higher or lower) :) If you own Blur or Split Second or have recently gone to see Eden Games in France, please post below ;)
  14. Nice. Can you borrow James May's tie-camera. Lee won't be reading this post, will he?
  15. Yes, but only Unranked races can be stringed together, which does nothing to improve your achievements unfortunately. Ranked matches kick you back out of the lobby one the race is finished, and the few times you get a race going with a friend, some n00b turns up in a S7 or something and isn't using Hardcore mode. :( I've hosted MP race tournaments via the forums in the past, I may do so again before TDU2 comes out.
  16. Since there is no moon gravity in TDU2, will the fences have open gates for us to drive into all areas that would otherwise be inaccesible? What objects in the islands are destructable? (e.g. Sign posts, lamp poles, fences, small trees, etc) In what ways can you search for and join a friend besides the map? What filters will we have on the map screen? Has the auto-reset been disabled when you flip (I think answer here is yes) OR if you are submerged in water (pond/river/ocean)? I would rather choose when to reset myself via the button method. Will music played via the radio station sound different depending on what vehicle you're in (i.e. tinny in a classic car, much nicer in a modern car). Will you be able to upgrade your car audio system? Is there a 'Be The Cop' mode? Will police chases occur online? Is there an instant replay feature in case you just miss a photo or [Fraps] filming opportunity?
  17. The Beta program would provide little value to the devs if the participants were chosen randomly, otherwise they wouldn't ask us to fill in a form. They might even check the email address we used to sign up to the TDU2 website to check out our TDU1 account (assuming the same address was used) for further insight, but I'm not sure about that.
  18. I guess I won't be filming any videos at 1080p & 40FPS. Maybe if I go SLI.... ;)
  19. Nice pic, but keep in mind that VIR don't like hotlinking, Leadfoot (at least I can never get your links to work) http://www.virtualr.net/test-drive-unlimited-2-release-date-beta-signup-open/
  20. I thought we were helping someone else, basically. My bad. :) You can ignore my post on Pgae 1 if you like, not sure how relevant the info is in the US.
  21. Have you installed the 1.66a patch? A quick Google search will find it for you
