Help with custom taillights

I am trying to create custom taillights for the CLK DTM but the lights become that turd brown color when I try to import them. I edited the lights with Photoshop CS4 and they won't show up on the car.

You have to save it in a specific format of DDS

 

From what I can remember is 8bit with alpha
