Next year's combined 3rd/4th volume of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that a television

anime adaptation of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's Toriko manga has been green-lit. In the story, the title character Toriko is a "Bishokuya" (gourmet food provider) who travels the world to hunt down the animals and plants needed for the finest cuisine dishes. The anime series will premiere next April at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays on Fuji TV and other stations.

The manga has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2008, and the 12th compiled book volume is shipping this month. The magazine had already announced in September that a 3D film version of Toriko (and One Piece) will open in Japan on March 19, 2011. There were also two Toriko anime specials produced for this year's and last year's Jump Super Anime Tour events. Viz Media will publish the fourth volume of the manga in North America next March.

Fuji TV's 9:00 a.m. timeslot on Sundays is currently held by Dragon Ball Kai. The Toriko television anime will run before the One Piece television anime series, which currently runs at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays on Fuji TV.
