Hitachi has already made a 100Gb 4-layered BD that they have tested and believe could simply be used by all current players with a simple firmware upgrade. MGS4 uses a 50Gb Dual-layer BD at the moment. As for amount of content it depends on the resolution and quality of the models, I mean think about us now at 1080, Japan is already playing with 2160P and there is an even higher standard coming out very very shortly again! [e:] It's called Super Hi-Vision and has a resolution of 7680x4320!! :eek:

There's Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) but it's not really been heard of since first prototypes were shown about 2-3 years ago. Plus remember that BD (Blu-ray) is already upto 200Gb and predictions are already on about quad-layered or even octo-layered I think.

In fact if they are looking to release in that time then they have to go with Blu-ray will they not?

Now here's an interesting thing, if Xbox 720 does come out it's going to be a lot more than the PS3 and developers are going to keep to the larger install base plus the next gen will have a new type of GPU meaning that it will more than likely be "develop for one or the other".

Everyone knows that to make a good handling car in all situations, a few dozen hard laps round the Nurburgring will show where you need to improve on. BMW and Porsche have known this for years and why do you think they are regarded as the best handling in their class usually.

The original MR2's are cheap but hell of a lot of fun nowadays. Always loved that TR7 shape crossed with Japanese madness.

It runs Sunday - Saturday and the result should be announced on the Sunday after but sometimes it's done on Monday due to cantbearsedness. :D

Week #29. RH12234(2) :: A very very closely fought week this one but for sheer "uhh wth?" it has to goto RH12234. You see contradiction can be a very hard thing not to do to yourself, as you can sometimes never remember what you might have said a few weeks, months or even years ago but in RH12234's case all it took was 23 minutes. Yep that's right, have some McDonald's in the morning for your breakfast, then a few hours later post in the forum that you had done exactly this, then 23 minutes later forget about it and mention that you haven't had a McD's in 4 months! Uhh yeah....

Because it's not about the handling, it's about the way it looks, the way you feel when you hear it or see it even if you're not driving it, if you are lucky enough to drive it then it's the feeling when you turn the key, it's the high maintenance that doesn't matter to you, it's the way others move out your way or drive up to you and talk to you because of what you're in. I see a tuned car I think that's nice, I see a supercar and it's like wow, speechless and so is everyone else around. You hear people who don't know about cars getting the name wrong like "is that a Ferrari" when it's a Lamborghini and such. The Countach was a supercar but you know what it was a terrible car but to the many rich and famous who bought it that didn't matter as it looked like it should have missles firing out the front, wings out the side and a jet engine from the back, it looked crazy and mental at the same time, it made people expel expletives when it drove by them and stopped people and traffic when it drove by. In fact to be honest a supercar is hardly ever a good car! :D

Haha no, a Lambo, Ferrari or Pagani might be beaten in speed, acceleration and track time by another car but that doesn't make that car a supercar. And sorry but no Japanese car except perhaps the NSX is seen as a supercar, even the new GT-R is being seen as a "supercar killer" but not a supercar. And yes NFS and F&F is changing the label and making more people not so much you, but there are definitely plenty of kids who will rate a car better just because it is faster when in fact that is not what being a supercar is all about. It's nothing to with snobbery or any of that crap either, supercar's are special and have a certain formula that can't really be explained. And who cares about how many cars you've been in, that's irrelevant and again it sounds like you think anything that is as fast or is faster than a supercar is itself a supercar which sorry to say is the F&F way of thinking. F355 vs Supra in F&F, just because the Supra beat the F355 does not mean the Supra is the better car.

Why was the old Porsche Turbo, the one with the whaletail dubbed a supercar when in fact it was more than likely to kill the driver due to it's terrible handling? Many yuppies ended up in ditches and fields due to that beast. Supercar's are not meant to handle well, that is not there main priority or draw so to speak.

A car can be a coupe as the definition of the word is usually used with the term "2-door coupe", never seen a 4-door coupe or anything then again I always associated 'coupe' with 2-doors and sleek. Interestingly though some people are calling the CLS exactly that though the word actually means 'to cut'.

The list wasn't complete so yeah the 288GTO would be there as would probably the Testarossa for it's day as I think it was out the same time as the Countach.

There's a debate going on about what a supercar actually is and what cars are deserving of this what is to be honest prestige label. Since the phrase was first coined almost 50 years ago it seems like it's being watered down in my and others' opinions to include cars that in the original sense of the word don't deserve it. Supercar was meant to describe a car that was a dream, it was only available to the wealthy few who could afford it even if it wasn't a limited production, if you couldn't afford 2 of them then you sure as hell couldn't buy 1 due to the servicing and maintenance costs. So rather than keep the same argument going on in the thread that has spawned this, let's get the views and opinions of our members and let's see if a certain group are the only ones who seem to keep agreeing on what they all keep saying.

Been in an R33 and an R34 as well as a 600bhp Evo VI and the evo was probably faster than most supercars in getting to 150mph but that doesn't mean it's a supercar. Personally I wouldn't ask myself what a supercar is but infact ask others and I don't mean people like you I mean those who like all types of cars
